Lugol's Iodine

Asthma/Lugols:

OMG!!! 13 days now and I haven't used the asthma ventolin. After 62 years of trying to breath and all the usual nasty drugs, I have to remember to not try, just wait and it comes, just like you folk, without asthma, have been doing it forever, all the way down to my feet. Thanks to the lovely Lugol who made the iodine, which I began using about 6 months ago, starting at 3 – 4 drops in my morning juice or herb tea and after a few weeks raising it to 6 – 7 drops [approx.37mg] at the same time slowly withdrawing from the reliever. I have remained on the steroid evohaler puffer of just one puff only before bed and will start to withdraw from that, hmmm, maybe on new years day. Ha! For a start, will use it every second night and see how it goes. The other things that helped were, from 33 yrs. just after the first lung collapse, I began staying away from supermarkets and eating vegetables plus herb teas and occasional sushi and the last 20 years exercising am and pm. Tai Chi and walking.

Now I am just waiting for the sky to fall. What the nasty PTB's and their big Pharma, Codex Alimentarius, FDA and TGA will introduce next. Never mind, I am 82 and off the planet soon.

Thanks for that post Rachel. That is the first time I have read someone has reactions to the things I react to - sulfates, sulfites etc...and that vinegar makes me feel worse. Could you please let me know what literature you have found on this particular type of allergy so I might understand it better? I had no idea it was a cluster of things until I read your post. Again, thank you so much for your post.

Thank you for that recommendation. I am a 56 year old post menopausal woman with very similar symptoms. My heart was pounding, my breathing was constricted. I suspect I had silent reflux, because after dinner, especially late dinner, I would feel the need to cough out fluids from my lungs. Within literally four days, the constricted feeling went away, my heart is not pounding, my pulse is lowered, my mouth breathing at night stopped, I am sleeping much, much better, my am cotton mouth is gone, I feel rested when I wake up, I don't dread going to sleep, I am not waking up in the middle of the night for reasons I cannot fathom. Thank you Earthclinic and thank you for poster, for telling your story.

Nasal Saline Irrigation (Neti Pot) for Asthma:

A neti pot has CURED my asthma attacks. Make sure you know how to properly use the device or it won't be effective. I wasn't able to breathe out of my nose, I was a HEAVY mouth breather. After using this, immediately I could breathe better and now I'm breathing through my nose.

I also did a mouthwash with warm water and salt, there may be a link with oral hygeine and asthma. Using a peppermint toothpaste also helps open passages.

Vitamin C, Omega 3

I've been asthmatic since being pregnant at age 26. On medications including steroids and inhalers. Just to make a long story shorter, I began with Vitamin C with bioflavanoids and rosehips (ascorbic acid alone did not seem to help). Vit C 1000 worked many times if I caught an attack early enough, but, omega 3s helped even better so I added them. Another real difference I found was when I went organic. A lot of things improved for one, but, it seems also my asthma as well.

Haven't had a problem in years, eating all kinds of foods, but, organic, in particular organic dairy and grass fed meats. I do now have raw organic Apple Cider Vinegar most everyday as well. Just to add, since going organic, my son's allergies that he had for years since he was a teenager, now in his 30's, have subsided as well. I use all natural household cleaning products as well such as baking soda and vinegar. Kind of "detoxing" as much as I can. Hope that helps anyone.

Update: So here it is, my journey seems to be almost complete with my asthma. I use Bill Monroe's H202 Therapy as a go-to if I start wheezing, take 2 teaspoons of Black Seed Oil (Nigella Sativa) daily to reduce systemic inflammation AND keep my sinuses clear of mucous plus, take Dr. Carolyn Dean's Remag (picometer size liquid magnesium), 1/2 tsp 2X a day....and continue to practice buteynko method of breathing. BTW, my Magnesium RBC (red blood cell) test was 5.0 mg/dL and according to Dr. Dean, it needs to be between 6.0-6.5 mg/dL, not the 4.2-6.8 mg/dL as indicated on the test range. The fluoride in the Advair was leaching the magnesium from my system - hence, I was not getting the proper nutrition I needed to combat my asthma. My body was not getting properly fueled nutritionally because the magnesium was not allowed to drag into the cells the vitamins and nutrients it needed.

If you have an interest in getting to the root of some of your health issues, I suggest you read the follow excerpt from functional medicine university. This one page of information is an eye opener as it relates to magnesium deficiencies.

Buteyko Breathing Method
Posted by Sam (Miami, FL) on 01/02/2015

And that is absolute true! The cardinal mistake people make, they confuse Maximum pause with Control pause. The Buteyko method is not about forcefully pausing your breath, but about consciously reducing its depth, not forcefully. One should never interfere with body's natural breathing. You gradually reprogram your brain to underbreath, so to speak, that will increase level of co2 which in turn will break oxygen /hemoglobins bond and make oxygen available to the tissues.

H2O2 Inhalation Therapy

Update: I am still having great success with the h202 inhalation therapy - using 6 squirts of the 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide a day. However, I really wanted to get to the root of this mild cold induced asthma condition so, I investigated my background a bit. I was born with asthma many years ago and was given many medications. My mother had little knowledge of the condition and so, I was given the standard meds back in the late 60's. Anyhow, I seemed to have little problems with asthma for many years but in reappeared about 10 years ago. I started with medications like singulair, flovent, duo-nebs, etc.....it was awful stuff. After 10 years, I knew I had to figure out this issue.

Fast forward to today...I am using hydrogen peroxide but knew that I must find out, on a cellular level, what is making me asthmatic. I started reading nutritional journals on the science behind nutrition therapy so, my investigation led me to Dr. Carolyn Dean and magnesium deficiencies. I have taken magnesium before but the pill forms are not bioavailable and, according to my research, we only get about 4% of the magnesium needed by taking a pill.

I delved into Dr. Deans blog, read everything I could about our deficiencies here in the United States and decided to get my magnesium RBC's checked (red blood cells) ...according the Dr. Dean, It needs to be above 6.0 and I was at 5.0. (I can't remember the measurement). I ordered her magnesium because in all honesty, I do believe the magnesium she developed truly is absorbable so much more then what we get from the nutrition shops and doesn't give me "the runs."

I have absolutely no affiliation with Dr. Dean but I respect her work and research immensely - I say this because I am sitting here, day 3 taking her magnesium liquid.....and no need for Advair or H202 therapy. Have I been magnesium deficient for so many years because of all the fluoride in my daily life? I believe so....I am speechless. The fluoride molecules are in so many medications and they hang on to the magnesium we get from our food sources. The pharmaceutical companies add fluoride to the medicines so they are more powerful but, with a price. I know Advair has fluoride molecules, my toothpaste has fluoride molecules, my water source has fluoride molecules.....folks, if you or your child have been taking ANY medications for many, many years (like me), get your magnesium RBC's checked. Here is a site that indicates which meds have fluoride in them.

http://www.slweb.org/ftrcfluorinatedpharm_ster.html

I give this information to everyone because it has taken me at least two years of investigation to get to this point and I hope it can help others. When I have my magnesium RBC's checked again, I will give everyone an update.

I have had mild asthma for years but still had to take a corticosteroid (Advair) once a day. I've been determined to get off that stuff so I threw caution to the wind and used Bill Munroe's method but only inhaled 6 squirts once in the morning of the 3% solution hydrogen peroxide daily. This is day 5....no asthma symptoms. Do you all realize how empowering it is to be using a therapy that is $0.50 a month as opposed to $40 (with insurance)? Once I get my 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide, I'll dilute it further till I hit the maintenance dose - hopefully < o.5%. As a nurse, I find this therapy a whole lot less destructive then the steroids offered patients. Period!

Tried breathing exercise (buteyko method) where I gently breathe in and out, hold my nose, close my mouth, then walk around the house until I cant breathe any longer. Stand still and count to a minute, then do it again 6 more times. Within a day this has cut my cold/flu/asthma/allergies to 80%. I did it morning and night on an empty stomach. By the 3rd day I am 100% cured.

Bathini Mrugasira Fish Medicine

Bathini Mrugasira Fish Medicine for Asthma:

Let me start with the story.

160 years ago a Hindu Saint gave an Herbal Medicine Formula to Philanthropist in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India, with the promise that he can administer the medicine to others only at free of cost.

Since, then the Bathini Goud Family(the original philanthropist) administer the Bathini Mrugasira Fish medicine to the people of India and all over the world for free for nearly 160 years from the year 1845.

The uniqueness of this medicine is the herbal paste is kept in the mouth of the baby Murrel Fish and given to the patient. The patient has to swallow the whole medicine along with live tiny Fish.

Bathini Fish Medicine is served and administered on a specific day called "Mrigishira Karthi", which is fixed each year by astrologers and normally coincides with the arrival of monsoon rains, the first or second week of June. Bathini Fish Medicine is given on Mrigishira Karti Nakshatra. Three doses of the extra medicine is also provided to patients, which is to be taken on three successive kartis: Arudra Karthi, Punnavasu Karthi and Pushymi Karti, these days being spaced each fifteen days, making a total of 45 days. After taking Bathini Fish Medicine the patient has to be under strict diet control for 45 days.

Indian herbal medicines (siddha, ayurvedha) is more potent on a particular date based on the planets, moons and stars. It is because of the Planets and stars centrepetal force, gravitiy that resonates the energies of the herb on that particular date providing maximum therapeutic value, which modern science has never even thought of.

This Fish Medicine camp is conducted only once a year. 24 hours non stop to serve nearly 50000 people. People from 6 months to 80 years are benefited from this medicine.

Now the Bathini family effort is registered as a Non-Profit Organization and providing the service.

The medicine and administration is totally free. You just have to buy the Fish, which is Rs. 10 (ten indian rupees) that is only 16 cents.

The Fish is provided by the Fisheries department of that State Andhra.

(Many of the Industries are run by the state/provincial govenments in India)

We used to say in India, only because of good people it is raining ( as rain is more important for drinking water and agriculture).

Now, I know one of the reason why it is raining in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Good Health.

Nettles

When one of my children was 11 or 12, he began to have trouble with asthma. It would flare up after a cold or due to seasonal allergies. It was bad enough that he needed steroid inhalers a couple of times. His doctor wanted him to take over the counter allergy medicine all the time. I did not want to go that route!

I started to give him nettle leaf powder in capsules. He took 4 nettle leaf capsules, twice a day. He also took 2 quercetin capsules twice a day. If he started sneezing from allergies during the day, he took another dose mid-day. He took these things for at least a year, maybe longer. Not only did this control his asthma, over time it seemed to completely heal it. Nettles is great for allergies and it also is a blood purifier. I wonder if it healed whatever was going on that was causing him to be asthmatic in the first place.

This did not work as well for my daughter. It took a lot more trial and error for her. Milk Kefir seems to be the cure for her.

Interestingly, the son who had asthma problems also had terrible, terrible reactions to poison ivy. We used to say he could just look at a picture of it and get it. He would get a little bit and it would spread terribly, it seemed to go systemic on him. Once he had it on his tongue. He took steroids for this a number of times. Anyway, he no longer gets severe poison ivy reactions. He gets a bit of poison ivy here and there but I know he is around it and "should" be getting it severely. It never even warrants treatment in his mind, and he used to be almost bedridden with it at times! (Recently, he was even with the brother who was weed wacking and got some poison ivy on his arms that I mention in another post! )

Nettles is so safe and gentle to use internally. I am amazed at how healing it can be!

Milk Kefir

Good morning! (Or maybe Good evening! :) )

I realized yesterday that my daughter, who has had trouble with asthma for the last few years, and was hospitalized for it in December, is doing great! I can't remember when I last heard her wheeze. We have used many different remedies over the last few years. Until December, we could get her symptoms under control with natural remedies.

Anyway, it took two days of breathing treatments at the hospital to get her oxygen levels normal. I wanted to avoid a repeat of that. I added milk kefir from raw local milk that I am blessed to be able to get to her diet, having read about its benefits her at EC and elsewhere. I make her a smoothie with it most days. She drinks maybe 1 cup to 1.5 cups per day. (She is 11 years old.) It also has organic banana, sucanat and raw cacao powder in it. I had her on several herbs as well. However, a couple of months ago I stopped all other supplements except 1 feverfew a day, which she takes to prevent migraines. (Works great, even though she forgets to take it sometimes.) I took her off of the supplements because she said they made her feel worse. I don't know if that is the case, but I know that what you think about your health affects you. She tends to be a little dramatic, so it isn't always easy to figure out what is really going on with her. I did have a very reasonable doctor for her follow up from the hospitalization. He took her off all meds (that the hospital doctor wanted her on for a year! ) He told me she is fine now and to treat her as such. He was also happy about the raw milk, so he is rather an unusual MD.

Anyway, she has not had any wheezing for months. And she has been quite healthy. She is one of the few that escaped a stomach bug that made the rounds at our house last month. In fact, this is the best her health has been in years, praise the Lord.

This is the same child whose pediatrician thought she had juvenile rhuematoid arthritis a few years ago. She has been symptom free of that for a long time, too. JRA is autoimmune and many consider asthma to be also. Milk Kefir appears to help some with autoimmune diseases, so that is why I tried it. What a blessing it appears to be for her. I know everyone is different, but perhaps this is something that would help someone else. It is a simple and safe thing to try at least.

Have a super day!

I hope my success with MSM may be able others asthma victims...

After 50+years of great doctors & resp- therapists, and numerous asthma meds & devices daily (including but not limited to inhalers, nebulisers, discus, pods, antiboitoics, steroids, cortico-streoids, spirometers, chambers, etc.), and numerous hospitalizations every year since childhood, my lifelong asthma was remedied within 2 weeks after I began taking an arthritis supplement that contained a new ingredient MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane). Nowadays, I take MSM (1500 mg) about once a month, as soon as I sense a twinge of chest tightness; I've been virtuallly asthma free for almost 2 years now!

Yes (unbelievably) it was as simple, cheap, and easy as that!

Hi, I am a frequent visitor of this site and has learnt a lot from here. My son was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 5 and his case was so aggressive that his doctor gave him oral, nasal and as well liquid steroid, when I asked him what about my son's immune system after taking all these steroids he said forget about his immune system, he has to take steroids all his life.I prayed to Allah to help me in that situation, after prayers and trials and errors I came up with these things. In winters I keep Chanca Piedra and at the very first sign of asthma I give him that and he gets a good night sleep and most of the time it stops completely, I give for a week and then stop it, but if the attack is really bad I nebulize him with 3% H2O2 and rub clove oil with some olive oil on his chest. If he gets fever I take a towel and put a lot of 3% H2O2 on it and start rubbing on his body starting from his souls all the way up to his stomach and chest with all this he gets a good night sleep. Now it has been 4 years since he is off from steroids, antibiotics which he used to take every month and even from tylenol.

Now to get rid of it permanently I will use Iodine and turpentine oil. When I will do that I will post a second reply. Asthma is purely from fungus and mycotoxins. Thanks

Aloe Vera

Hello I would like to tell you how I use Aloe Vera to help keep my Asthma under control.

I am 66 YO and had child hood asthma which went away after I was 10.

However about 6 years ago I had a bad viral chest infection which took 6 weeks to clear up. I was left with asthma, although initially it was not very bad. I used a Symbicort inhaler and morning and evening puffs controlled it. Then in 2010 I moved from South Florida to Costa Rica. After a couple of months I was able to get rid of my inhaler. However, in early 2013 a Swiss company started demolishing a mountain so they could build a new resort less then a half mile away. Over a hundred large Mack trucks would drive by my home everyday carrying away the dirt and rocks. My asthma started back up with a vengeance. I ended up using Albuterol and Symbicort inhalers and taking Singulair (Montelukast) every day. (This was all prescribed by my Doctor in the USA.) I was using the Albuterol several times a day. Although they finished up in early December my symptoms continued.

I noted early on the the Singulair acted as anti-viagra. The Singulair made it difficult to impossible to have an erection. So I substituted Lobiella. I would take a capsule just before bedtime and it would help me a lot. It also did not have the side effects of the Singulair.

Recently I found out that Aloe Vera acts like a natural steroid and when I have it, my lungs clear just like the Albuterol. However, the aloe-vera gel is very bitter so I either mix it in juice or I get a bottle of Aloe Vera drink, which does not work as well. A number of roadside stands sell Aloe-vera drink that is not pasteurized and it works better although I do get some relief from the commercial drink.

When I drink several glasses a day it keeps my lungs clear. I had tried ACV but it did not work for me nearly as well.

I hope my experiences help.

Onion Poultice
Posted by Mama To Many (Tennessee, Usa) on 08/26/2013

Hi! My 9 year old had a terrible asthma attack last night. She coughed and wheezed all night. By morning, the coughing was non-stop. All night I tried remedy after remedy and nothing was working. (She had this trouble a year ago and we found a number of natural solutions for her. Then she only had a little trouble every so often, easily treatable with nettles and quercetin.) Anyway, I was reading through all the asthma stuff here on earth clinic and trying what I had on hand. ACV didn't work. Essential Oils didn't work. Lobelia tincture didn't work. And Epsom Salt bath didn't work. Green tea didn't work. Coffee didn't work. Herbal steam didn't work and nettles and quercetin didn't work. ) Previously, many of these things had worked for her, so I was really baffled.

Finally, I called a friend (when the hour was decent) to ask her about a remedy she had once used on her son who has bad asthma. It was an "Onion Poultice." I sauteed about 1/4 cup of onion in coconut oil until it was soft. I put it on a cloth. I added a lot of salt. (at least 1/4 cup. ) I wrapped it in the cloth and when it was no longer too hot (test on forearm) I put in on her chest (which had some oil as a barrier on it, so the onion wouldn't burn. ) In a few minutes she stopped coughing and slept with not a single cough for almost 2 hours. She was still wheezing but not coughing. When she woke up, I gave her 4 nettles capsules and 2 quercetin capsules. When I checked her breathing with a stethoscope 30 minutes later, her lungs sounded almost normal.

By the way, if you have a stethoscope, here is a great website to know what you are hearing. I found it very helpful.

http://www.easyauscultation.com/lung-sounds.aspx

She may have a little cold that brought this one and perhaps ate something yesterday at a pot luck that didn't agree with her (she went to bed with a migraine.)

I was thinking we might end up in the ER and was so grateful that we didn't have to do that. Thank God for onion.

I hope that helps another mom one of these nights when you are searching and searching for what will help you child!

Vitamin D3
Posted by Wendy (Raymore, Missouri, United States) on 06/03/2013
★★★★★

I would like to propose a theory regarding asthma that is two-fold and possible remedies.

Both my daughter and I had a very bad chest cold in January 2007. At that time she was 5 years old. Then in March that year, she suddenly developed asthma and had to be on inhalers and nebulizer. Over the next two years I noticed that in the Summer, she did not need any of her meds but within a month of starting school, her symptoms came back. I started researching VitaminD3 and had both our levels checked when we went to the doctor in the Spring of 2009. Normal readings should be 40-70ng/ml and she was at 38 and I was at 37. So I purchased VitaminD3 liquid drops @ 400iu per drop and we started taking 2 drops per day (800iu) only during the Fall/Winter months of 2009 and had our levels check in the Spring of 2010. Her level was at 39 and mine was at 40-better but still low. We increased to 4000iu drops in the Fall/Winter only and get adequate sunshine during the Spring/Summer.

What I have found is that by taking the D3, her asthma has been kept under control and she rarely needs her inhaler and both of us have not had a bad cold/flu for the past 3 years.

The other theory I have come across in my research is clinical trials regarding people who have had bronchitis/chest cold that became asthmatic following the illness. Two different bacteria have been shown to be the culprits: mycoplasma pnuemonia and clamydia pnuemonia, causing approx. 50% of childhood asthma and 70% of adult-onset asthma. Researchers have done clinical trials using azithromycin for extended periods to kill the bacteria and have found that the asthma symptoms of the test subjects improve or are completely cured. I am not a big fan of antibiotics though and am not promoting it, however, if the research suggests bacterial infections are a cause of asthma perhaps using an antibacterial natural remedy would be helpful, i.e., collodial silver in a nebulizer. I have not tried this, just a thought.

I have also dabbled in Homeopathy but for now the VitaminD3 seems to be working well.

I hope this information is informative.

Thanks to EarthClinic for a wonderful source of alternative cures.

Best of Health! Wendy

Yea. Having suffered from bronchitis attacks for years and years, which brought out my asthma, I finally took the plunge and nebulised with colloidal silver. Here's what I did:

Day One - Five minutes of nebulising in the morning and fifteen minutes before bedtime. Day Two: Fifteen minutes in the morning, five minutes at noon and fifteen minutes before bedtime. Day Three: Fifteen minutes in the morning and ten minutes before bedtime

In three days it had all cleared up! That was last February, and I haven't had bronchitis since.

H2O2 Inhalation Therapy

Hi, I have not tried the h202 inhalation again since I wrote in. I drink it on occasion but would like to wait until I get it under control without any major hiccups before trying again. The last thing I want is to have to turn to a large dose of steroid again as I've read too often this is retroactive in the healing of the lungs and for asthma. It is like an ammonia smell but I have never had the colloidal silver. Thank you for the suggestion... I started drinking the asthma tea, a few brands make it. I stopped cold turkey: the fast acting, my daily steroid inhalent (which was perscribed 4x the normal dosage) and the nebulizer. I started eating lots of garlic, onions, baking soda, avc, kelp extract, fish oil, 3000 mg of vit c as antihistamine, and a sickening amount of other vitamins. I for the most part stay away from all sugars and carbs unless they are dark green veggies. The asthma has never been better. It is not perfect but this is my own fault as I am not consistent with taing the vitamins every night and I am not consistent with quitting smoking. Just read about this flax oil mucilage made at home that is supposed to be wonderful for mucous and lungs... But has a heavy detox effect as it supposedly rids the body of the viruses that hide in the spinal cord until the immune is supressed... it will be interesting if I get the same side effects.

I have used a mixture with lobelia seed to treat asthma attacks and it clears it within 5 minutes. It also is used to prevent attacks when taken in settings that may trigger them. Other ingredients were nettle, Pleurisy, Ginger, Mullein leaf, Comfrey root, Marshmallow root, Onion, Elecampane Root, Coltsfoot Leaf, Licorice Root, Kola Nut, Cherry Bark, Fennel Seed, Peppermint Leaf.
