I have been suffering from recurrent BV for almost 3 years now, I am 23 years old now so I started getting it at the age of 20, I've visited many doctors, gynecologist, urogynocologist and they have all tried to help w medications but my body is so sick of it that I just get BV the moment I'm off the medication. I've had the most 3 miserable years of my life, suffering, crying about it, asking God for help, seeking natural treatments, changing lifestyle.. Done it all, I've changed the soap (I use organic baby soap), tooken probiotics (50mil), I've done it all, and I decided to try what I always feared, garlic up my vagina.. Yup! So recently I was diagnosed w BV, took the meds blah blah, I got the symptoms again along w yeast, because my situation now seemed to have worsened from just BV to now BV and yeast.. Anywho, I decided to start using garlic cloves into my Vagina before bed and it's been 5 days and I only had discharge once (I'm sure cleansing it up) but aside from that, I've been feeling much better.. Still too soon to speak but I have faith that it will work.. It sucks there isn't a cure for this tragic life ruining condition..I hope garlic does the trick! Pray for me, I'll be back in the future and give more information about my journey beating BV's behind..

Ladies, if you are like me you have tried everything under the sun to find a solution to this very uncomfortable problem that interferes with your life beyond sex and including sex. I was beyond annoyed. I have found the solution for ME, and I think it is something you may want to try as well because once I realized my problem I felt really, well....dumb. So my problem has been persistent for over 6 months. I tried probiotics (didn't notice any benefits) ate yogurt which I HATE (no change), cut out sugar, took yeast infection tablets (this did work, but it was only temporary....took away odor and discharge but you must be diligent AND the box tell you it's not a cure) did hydrogen peroxide douches (once again temporary solution, in combination with the yeast infection tablets, I did find relief about 3 to 4 days at a time). Just as I was about to try and eat some bentonite clay (I was losing my mind by this point) my cycle started. I decided to stop the tablets and take IRON pills. Yes ladies IRON!!!!

I'm anemic and have always been, but never followed doctors orders to take the supplements because the prescribed dosage always made me sick. It wasn't until several friends had blood transfusions that I got scared and got serious about taking care of my body. As a result, after my 5 day cycle I noticed that I didn't have any discharge, or smell. It has been 8 days and I'm still feeling like a lady. LOL.

Now before I realized that iron was MY solution, I did a ton of research online, went to the doctor and was never pointed in the direction that my anemia could be the cause of the discharge. However after I suspected the iron was the reason it went away, I searched anemia and vaginal discharge. Low and behold it's all over the place that this could be the cause. How ironic....I could have saved hundreds of dollars, months of discomfort, and a lot of time because while I was looking for a miracle drug, the whole time I had bottles of iron in my medicine cabinet.

I take one 45mg tablet per day and so far this has been working. Not only has it gotten rid of the problem, but I'm also gaining the other health benefits that I always needed. I would definitely look into this if you are anemic. I'm happy to report this news as I promised myself I would report if anything truly worked and if I run into any bumps in the road with the iron I will report back, but so far.....8 days has been the longest I've been pantyliner, discharge, and odor free in months.

I struggle with bacterial vaginosis and have it for months and years at a time. I finally found my cure with cloves of garlic. I unpeel a garlic clove, put a few stab holes in it to release the healing juices and insert it in my vagina. After a day or two or three it naturally comes out. I finally cured myself and have been B.V. Free for several weeks now thank god!!!! I did a maintenance type of program with many things that kept the odor at a minimum and the white sticky discharge a little less in thickness with all of the following.

I have tried hydrogen peroxide douches with a few drops of tea tree oil (this kills the bad bacteria that is overgrowing and causing the problem), rePHresh vaginal inserts (these really help with the odor), eating probiotics daily (the refrigerated kind you find at Whole Foods) and elimination of sugar and coffee from my diet (hard to do but actually good for health and diet). Anyways, I just wanted to share this with everyone because I know the stress and aggravation this causes and I really think the cloves of garlic is what really worked this time. It lessened the white discharge within a few days, and it also created a more clear and slippery lubricant in my vagina and that was a relief. I also decided to stop obsessing over it and just tried to maintain it and I think this psychological shift really played a part as well. Best of luck to all women who face this problem. I hope this helps!

Yogurt

Okay, today I went to the doctor for my follow up appointment to check to see if I had BV because I had it June 7,2015 and they prescribed me Metronidazole pills which did hep until the 2nd to the last day, the BV came back.

Well....I came to this site and Googled other home remedies for BV cures and I totally forgot that Plain Unpasterized Yogurt always did the trick for me. Well I wrote on here a few days ago about the Boric Acid capsules which always work. Well, when I get BV I seem to get back problems, lower back pain, pelvic pain, itching, buring urine, and the whole nine. Well I said enough is enough and I had hubby go to the grocery store and get plain yogurt Dannon because they didn't have unpasterized and I drenched the tampon in the yogurt and inserted it and removed the applicator and left in on me for about one hour and it started feeling better, I still had a little BV but then it was going away, then I looked online the best way to use the yogurt and I inserted the yogurt inside the plastic applicator and the second time an hour later I didn't use the actual tampon, I inserted the applicator filled with yogurt as if it was a Monistat applicator-filled with yogurt and I did this about 6 to 7 times a day and it did the trick, my peed burned a little but not as much. (Your going to have to change your underwear several times and wear sweats because the yogurt will soak your clothes and leak)

I even work out with yogurt tampons so my underwear don't get sweaty (because you can get bv from working out leaving wet under garments on. Anyways, I didn't leave a treatment in over night but you can. I noticed the next morning, I felt so much better. Then I didn't use the yogurt anymore and I noticed that my pee no longer burned and when I went in for my GYn appointment this morning, she checked me for BV, Yeast, and UTI and it was all gone. No more BV, thank GOD. So ladies, Yogurt does work, don't douche because it can mess you all the way up. I use to douche with hydrogen peroxide and apple cider vinegar but it didn't work for me but make me worse.

The doctor thought I had yeast but it was left over yogurt, LoL. Other than that no signs or symptoms of BV, YEAST, or anything. I feel so much better thanks to the Yogurt because the pills do not work at all.

Treatment-Plain Yogurt with live cultures and acidophilis-unpasterized or

Boric acide capsules,

Third make sure you take probiotics as well as Folic Acid 800mg, Vitamin E and D

Fourth Acidophillus capsules(it's like a probiotic

Hope this helped all BV sufferers. Also drink tons of water I drink at least 10 bottles or more a day, especially at night when I get dehydrated. Along with 100% Cranberry Juice Northland brand or Ocean Spray and stay away from sugar as much as you can.

Hi ladies! If you're on this site, you were like me, struggling to get rid of this stupid bv! I went to the gyn for a yeast infection and I found out I had bv as well! I took both the oral and vaginal medication for this! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't insert anything into the vagina including the peroxide! Your vagina is super sensitive.. I tried folic acid, probiotics, inserting vitamin c, I can't even remember all that I did! I got BV in December 2014 and it is now June 2015. but for 2 months all I've been doing is drinking lemon water! FRESH lemons. What I do is squeeze 1-2 fresh lemons into water from my tap and add a little sugar and it tastes like lemonade honestly! I do that everyday and my symptoms have gone away! Minimal discharge!!!!!!! I never experienced the fishy smell though. But PLEASE try this. I went online everyday for hours looking for a cure and I just thought that this would be something I would have to deal with forever. But I drink the lemon water, I don't use soap when I wash myself down there in the shower and I ALWAYS pee & shower after sex. PLEASE try these tips. I was just like you a couple months ago. good luck girls! I completely know what youre going through

I have been suffering from BV for almost 10 long years. Ladies I know what you have all been going through. It has completely ruined my personal Life!

I have tried everything under the sun including numerous antibiotics, that always seemed to make it work. With doctors lack of knowledge makes it that much harder. I have been a repeat BV forum hoping the next time I'm on someone will have found something new. Low and behold, I have combined a couple things, the only things I haven't tried just to overload it and wipe it out. I think I finally have!!

Ok... So Before I went to work I took a tampon saturated it about 20 drops of Tea Tree Oil. I did not use an oil base, just the tea tree. (has a cooling effect for a while, that is normal) I kept it in for about 4 hours and took it out. That night when I got home I inserted a 500mg Vitamin C before I went to bed. I woke up and douched with natural Apple Cider Vinegar.

It has been 3 days and absolutely nothing! No smell, no discharge, no gunk. I am so relieved, I will be using this method once a week just to maintain. I am deathly afraid of it coming back so I am taking no chances.

I know how frustrating and depressing this condition is. I really hope this works you ladies, again, I have been suffering from BV for about 10 years. This is truly a miracle!!!! Let me know how this works out for you, I hope to hear many success stories!

Chlorophyll

I had been dealing with BV for 6 months. I did two rounds of Flagyl, which did nothing for the BV, and caused terrifying mental side effects (I thought I was crazy until I did some research - it can happen! Never again.). Peroxide douches didn't help for more than a few hours. The only thing that was working was boric acid suppositories, which I had to use at least every other night or else the BV came back with a vengeance.

Grasping at straws, I read about alkalizing. It made no sense to me, as I had understood that a TOO-alkaline vagina was the problem, and is common in menopause (my new phase of life). But I read about alkalizing working for some women, and thought what the heck, and tried liquid chlorophyll - as I'd read chlorophyll was alkalizing to the system.

I started taking two tablespoons in water in the morning, and one tablespoon at night. After the first day, I stopped the boric acid to see what would happen. That was three weeks ago, and the BV seems to have disappeared. As in - never saw it again after the first dose of chlorophyll! After 6 months of BV, it seems like it would be too much of a coincidence if it wasn't the chlorophyll that helped! I don't understand how it worked, but apparently, it did...

Aloe Vera

Hi!

I was recently diagnosed with BV & cervical polyps and legions on my cervix these are slow growing and can lead to cancer if you're not careful. As a side effect I began getting BV from the ph balance distress the lesions were causing. Then I got Trichomonas vaginalis from a sexual partner. My doctor said I had HSIL and a cone biopsy is my only option. I was able to heal my cervix and BV using home made vaginal suppositories made from pure Aloe Vera jelly. I want to have more children so I chose to try diet change, quitting smoking, juicing, herbal tonics & cleansing while I thought about surgery. I've had reoccurring bv for so many years, I really wanted to get rid of it. Well to ease my cervical lesions which were always spotting, I decided to try Aloe plant. I purchased the aloe plant stalks in the produce section of the market. To my surprise the bv was also cured after 3 days & my cervix feel less inflamed and no longer spotting. It feels so amazing! The odor stopped the second day of treatment.

Here's the remedy:

1. Brand new flexible ice tray (iKea has small rectangular ones that work great) - sterilize tray by boiling first

2. Use a small pearing knife to scrape the clear jelly from inside the aloe Vera stalk

3. Blend the jelly (only clear jelly) in a blender until the slippery mixture is fine and has no lumps . (Make sure you do not leave behind any of the green outside parts, as these can cause irritation to the outside areas of the vagina.

4. Pour mixture of pure blended aloe jelly into the ice tray and cover with parchment paper then seal in plasting zip loc. Freeze mixture.

5. Break frozen rectangles into half size manageable pieces. Insert small about (.5ml) frozen pieces into vagina at bed time and wear a thin pad.

6. use suppositories for 5-8 nights, preferably right after your menstrual cycle ends towards your next ovulation.

7. There can be slight irritation to the vulva & outside areas as the jelly first flushes out. This only last for a few minute when the suppository is first melting . That's why its good to be sleeping and lying down to skip this part ;)! Wipe clean and change pad for comfort.

8. Fishy odor caused by BV bacteria and Unbalanced PH will fade starting the second day. Enjoy! I'll be continuing to shrink down and soothe my cervix too!

Good luck!

For all the women out there looking for the most natural and least invasive way to cure and heal, I wanted to share this remedy I've found for bacterial vaginosis: The salt and baking soda packet mixtures commonly sold for sinus flushes. Use one packet of the sinus flush to 8oz of water then douche once in the morning and once at night for three days. Just like with a bacterial infection within the bladder, the salt acts as a sterilant. I've learned so much from this website, I wanted to give something back. Hopes this helps!

I have had BV for the last 40 years. The first 30 were misdiagnosed by several gynocologists. They all told me I had a yeast infection. About 10 years ago, my OB/GYN told me I had Bacterial Vaginosis and treated me with Flagyl. This got rid of my problem but only temporarily. BV plagued me 3-4 times a year. Each time I took Flagyl. Throughout the 40 years, I douched almost daily to control the smelly fishy odor. I knew douching so often was probably making the BV worse but I was desperate. Then, a few days ago I found your site and read the many positive comments about folic acid.I purchased a bottle and began taking 800 mcg twice a day. I also douched using 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. By Saturday, the odor and discharge were gone. I plan to continue taking 800 mcg 2 times per day for the next 2 weeks and maintain one 800 mcg per day thereafter. I can't believe this inexpensive supplement and apple cider vinegar got rid of my BV after 40 miserable years of Bacterial Vaginosis!!! A big mahalo (thank you) to Earth Clinic for making this valuable information available to women who suffer with BV and other health issues.

Coconut Oil

So I would like to share how I cured my BV after 6 years of having it. After many doctors Apt's, many prescribed and non prescribed medication did not work I continued my search on the internet and YouTube for ways to cure chronic yes “Chronic" BV; I came across a post that said to use unrefined coconut oil as a suppository. How I did that was melt the coconut oil in the microwave or let it melt at room temperature afterwards I would pour a little into a small ice tray and let freeze for a few hours or overnight. The reason for freezing coconut oil is because it is very messy and melts extremely fast once touching a warm surface. At night time after work I would come home take the coconut oil ice tray out of the freezer and get in the shower, I would wash my body up as usual and then slide TWO small coconut cubes way into my vagina. The coconut oil melts fast so stay in the shower until you have rinsed off the coconut oil that was dripped out. You will notice either later on that night or the next day that the smell, itching or whatever problem that you may have is GONE. I'm not saying that this remedy works for everyone but it WORKS for myself ...coming from a person that has tried EVERYTHING for over 6 years to get rid of the smell. I hope you ladies try this it is very cheap and would rather do this treatment than buying expensive pills on cream.

I have been dealing with BV for 9 years! A huge embarrassment at work....I had to change jobs several times because people can be cruel. Anyway...I have been using plain greek yogurt for 3 days. I bought a medicine dropper and insert yogurt 3-4 times a day. I researched that low lactobacillus is associated with BV and growth of pathogenic bacteria. The doctors are not helpful....what a waste of money. Flagyl and metrogel don't help at all. I used Greek Gods plain yogurt. I'm so damn happy!!!! :-)

For me what has worked is to take non filtered apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, and acidophilus orally on a daily bases. Each of these are best in its most natural form. Any organic non-filtered vinegar will work. Coconut oil, I order online from tropical traditions. But again, any organic virgin coconut oil will do. I'm not a big fan of yogurt, so acidophilus it is. I like natural factors brand that I get from whole foods.... Think vitamin shop sells it too. Also for the vinegar, if you can't stand the taste of it, you can do vinegar pills too. But the actual vinegar is best. 1/4 cup of vinegar, 2-4 acidophilus, and 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil. I do it first thing in the mornings to get it over with.

Unfortunately this is an on going remedy. BV will go away, but will return eventually, if you stop taking them. I did this consistently for about 6 months, however I noticed results within a week. I continued to do it inconsistently for the remaining year. Stopped taking it for a while. 2 years later, it has returned. So needless to say, I'm back on it. But the added plus about the above remedy, is that you will start to loose weight, and if you struggle with acne, like I use to, that will go away, my used to be painful sometimes irregular periods were now regular and pain free, in addition to being BV free. And they are all perfectly safe and nutritionally good for you. They each include daily things that your body is lacking from a standard American diet.

BV easily develops in people who often take antibiotics. Every time a round of antibiotics is taken, the body's immune system is weakened. So our body use to be able to naturally protect itself from this bacteria. But over the years, the American diet lacks in nutrition that supports the body to help fight off infections and diseases. In fact our diets and overuse of antibiotics may be contributing to making our body's worse at not being able to fight off these infections. The vinegar helps to naturally balance ph levels, and has good bacteria our bodies need... That's the cloudy brown stuff (mother) that settles at the bottom of the bottle. Be sure to shake it up to make sure you getting that in your body. The coconut oil is a natural anti fungal, anti viral, anti bacterial oil. Don't be concerned with it being fat. It's natural fat that the body needs that actually helps you to burn stored fat. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. Look it up, research them each, you'll be surprised at the wonderful things they can help with. Acidophilus of course has the good bacteria to help replenish the ones that we naturally have in the vagina in order to fight off BV. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if anyone has questions about the remedy. God Bless you all and I look forward to hearing more success stories!

Hello I had bv for over 5 years and didnt reach this site until sometime last year, so I tried everything that everyone listed but it kept coming back. I went to a church service and went up for prayer sometime last year and the woman just said God told me to tell you to drink water. Now I said ok and left it alone, recently it was really getting bad and I was praying and God brought that back to my mind. So I started drinking water and didnt do nothing else that everyone else told me to do.. ITS GONE! I know that it sounds weird and its again the norm that only water would cure it but you tried everything else why not just drink water, I stoped drinking everything else and drink water all through the day and after 5 years I am free. Just thought I would give you guys what God gave me..

Here is an easy and fast remedy for bacterial vaginosis, which is relatively harmless but very smelly 'down there'. Simply put some virgin coconut oil in and around the vagina. The smell will be gone within hours but keep it going for a few days to make sure the infection is gone.
