Chanca Piedra

A direct reason and cause for gallbladder attacks can be due to gallstones. And if you want to spend some money to confirm that, you can perhaps arrange a CT scan with your doc.

But if it were me and I was having painful gallbladder attacks, the first thing I would do would be to supplement Chanca piedra(Phyllanthus niruri) as capsules at 1000mgs after every meal until the gallbladder attacks stop. Or, if you prefer, you can get another CT scan to confirm that you no longer have gallstones.

I must also be totally honest with you and confess that I am completely biased wrt supplementing Chanca piedra because it is such a magnificently beneficial herb and that's why it is one of my all-time favourite herbs! Reasons? Because Chanca piedra is probably the best blood purifier out there; because it ALWAYS successfully dissolves and removes gallstones and kidney stones painlessly within a week or so; because it kills certain viruses -- like Hepatitis A, B & C, Herpes virus and HIV -- by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme that is so essential for viral replication; because it strongly protects both the liver and kidneys; because it safely lowers fats, calcium and sugar in the blood; because it reduces blood pressure and is good for the heart; because it's an alkaline-forming herb -- and alot more besides. You can read all the research evidence here:

Chanca piedra Usage and Research

For the last two months I've been experimenting with Chanca piedra(CP). I've been supplementing half a teaspoon of CP powder(approx 2 gms) as a tea or in my coffee twice a day. It's a bitter tasting herb but that doesn't really bother me when I think of all the benefits of CP. And from all the research and in case you are wondering -- Chanca piedra has no known upper dose limit.

I've been taking CP regularly for the last two months at the dosages and frequency stated above and this has successfully brought my blood pressure down from 80/180(with occasional dizzy spells) down to 70/123(no more dizzy spells) in just 2 months.

I intend to continue taking Chanca piedra daily for the long term because it's such a wonderful and safe blood purifier. I'm an old guy, so it makes complete sense for me to use a blood purifier like Chanca piedra as a preventative -- as I get older -- to help me avoid high blood pressure, high cholesterol while also helping to continually remove or prevent calcium-based "stones", which also includes preventing the formation of calcium-based blood clots. CP can also be used for dissolving uric acid crystals causing gout because it is alkaline-forming in the blood.

I'm surprised that I don't see Aloe Vera juice listed for relief of Gallbladder attack. It's the only thing I've found that helps me. When I feel pain in my gallbladder area I drink 4 oz of aloe vera juice. (It needs to be "inner leaf" to prevent laxative effect). Within just a few minutes I can actually feel my gallbladder emptying and the pain and nausea are relieved.

Ginger Tea

I've had 10+ gallbladder attacks of varying intensity over the last year and tried various things including ACV and lemon juice but nothing works as well for me as ginger tea. It has always helped and in many cases allayed an attack. Once I feel better and get hungry again then I eat some simple carbs, this seems to help as well.

First of all as soon as I realize I am having a gallbladder attack I stop eating. Probably not recommended for diabetic folks and others who need steady blood sugar but this is absolutely crucial for me.

I boil (or have someone boil) a handful of peeled chopped ginger for 10 minutes or so. The concentration doesn't matter as I just dilute it if it's too spicy. The boiling time doesn't seem to matter either and I often leave ginger pieces sitting in the water after turning off the burner.

I drink a little and then lay down, sipping more at intervals. It helps me to lay on my left side and periodically turn and stretch The change in positions seems to help the gallbladder release the bile but of course when it's really bad I don't try to move at all.

I've sometimes taken the ginger with lemon as well.

This has only worked on an empty stomach. After the first couple of attacks I clued in on this. I wait until I feel better, and also hungry, to eat. Best foods for me after an attack are simple carbs--boiled potatoes mashed with a fork and some salt, or rice crackers if I have them, etc.

I hope this helps someone.

Triggers

What seems to bring on my gall bladder attacks are: hot melted cheese, heavy creme, spicy mexican food, hot chocolate.

Best remedies: organic apple cider with apple cider vinegar, warmed up but not hot.

1 apple grated and mixed with 1-2 inch grated ginger root. (Both grated with a micro-plane grater)

20 drops of peppermint oil in warm peppermint tea.

Use one of these combinations but if you don't feel much better you can try any of the other remedies.

I recommend the grated apple-ginger in addition to any of these remedies.

Apple Cider Vinegar in Apple Juice

I have used apple cider vinegar for so many different purposes. Besides helping alkalize the body, I have found that it works great for people who are going through a full blown gallbladder attack.

The recipe that I have used is adding one or two tablespoons in an 8 ounce glass of organic apple juice at least 3 times a day. This really works miracles. But it does not take care of the actual cause which are gallstones or congestion. Only works if you are going through some gallbladder symptoms or as a preventive measure.

I ended up in the hospital Friday night with the most unbearable pain imaginable, it took 3 shots of pain killers to dull the pain. I had and ultrasound and I have gallstones. Still in pain I've been looking up everything possible when I say this. My sister kindly went to the store and picked up ACV and apple juice (they didn't have organic). I just drank 8 oz of Apple juice with 3 table spoons of ACV and the pain is gone. Thank all of you sooooo much. That did in ten minutes what 3 shots of strong painkillers failed to do.

Thank you so much for this post! I suffered from a gallbladder attack and was in the ER for 2 days. They sent me on my way with a packet of pain killers and nothing else. I was feeling discouraged becasue I wanted a solution to the pain and discomfort rather than a band aid. I drank 1/4 cup of the apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of mango carrot juice (we were out of apple) and within an hour I felt much better! 24 hours later I am still without symptoms!

I had many attacks prior to finding the solution here with ACV. That helped immensely with immediate relief. The interesting thing to note for me was that I had an Ayurvedic doctor tell me to take, upon first rising, 2 tsp ACV 1 tsp lemon juice mixed in a glass of water. I had done this religiously for almost 11 months and have had awesome results with no attacks. The funny thing (or uber painful thing) is that I just woke to a major attack and am feeling that my 2 days of missed morning ritual has had an effect on my system! I see how the effects of NOT taking my morning "alkalizer" I call it, can wreak havoc on me. Here it is Christmas morning at 3:14am and just having my symptoms slowly subside. Hmm, maybe I'll run into Santa! I truly believe that this morning "alkalizer" balances my system.

The side effects have been that I lost weight on it too! I follow the ACV lemon juice (all organic) with a glass of "sole" (pronounced So-lay). The water/salt solution of Himalayan sea salts and water from a jar. 1 tsp of Sole with water before or after the ACV mixture. For 1 thing it prevents me from having coffee first thing in the morning and know that it helps to bring my PH balance into alignment.

If you don't know, the most important thing is to have the body in an alkaline state... For most diseases do not live in an alkaline body, only in an acid body. Research this yourself. This was shared with me by my holistic practitioner. All good information to share for better health! Our bodies know what is wanted. BTW I know that my niece of 6 years craves the vinegary taste and likes just 1tsp ACV with water now and again. (At times she craves pickle juice). Well, my symptoms have subsided and know that I will not overindulge even though it is Christmas. Off to bed before I run into Santa and surprise him!

Whenever I felt a gall bladder attack coming on, I would drink about a quarter cup of regular (not kosher) dill pickle juice or eat a lemon and I found that within minutes the pain and nausea were gone.

First of all I absolutely love this website! It is so helpful and... eye-openingly refreshing!

I am a vegetarian and know the importance of getting protein especially. Little did I know until later that I wasn't getting enough protein when I thought all along I had! Last year I went through a sleugh of tests to try and figure out why I was having this God-awful stabbing, jabbing pain directly below my right rib cage which to me, felt like a heart attack. It seemed to flair up an hour or two after a meal. I also suffer from Gerd so I would somehow associate it with that. But, I would have this uncomfortable pain consistantly every day -And it was more apparent at night or in the wee hours of the morn. My doc thought it might be gallbladder so I underwent tests for that. They came back Negative. During the many visits and not to mention the dollars spent trying to get to the bottom of what was causing that pain - I decided to get up on the internet to try and find the answer myself. Realizing that I am a vegetarian and have been for many years, I checked out everything food related and that I needed in the way of nutrtion, that was beneficial to my living this vegan lifestyle.

During the research I found that a lack of B12 could be the cause for this sharp, unexplained pain that I was having - and I had been having it for more than a year or so - Anyways. to make this long story short, I went back to the doc. Told her what I found that might be causing this pain - She ordered up a blood test and found out that I was deficient in B12! She didn't want to give me the shots so I was put on B12 supplements that she recommended from the health food store ( Must contain methylcollomin - check my spelling on that word though ok?) - Anyways, after taking the 1,000 mcg's of B12 - 2 a day at first - now down to one,the pain was gone almost immediately (with-in a week I'd say) and remains to be gone to this day!!!! Yeah.... The brand I take is B12 Infusion by Enzymatic, for those of you who might be interested. Thanks for letting me share my story.
