Psyllium or Flax Seed for Gas

whipple operation for duodenal cancer, psyllium, and flax seed meal. After my cancer operation in 1991 I suffered terrible flatulence - gas in both directions. It was a difficult time for several years - my doctors prescribed pancreatic enzymes that were useless.

Eventually I realized because of the removal of my duodenum, digestion of oils and fats especially was impeded. I was better avoiding all oils and fats, but that was not a long term solution. My triglycerides were elevated and I was slowly depleting my essential oils and drying out based on my skin condition. Adding back essential oils (flax mixture) brought my tryglicerides back to normal in the first week but my original gaseous problems were still there.

Eventually, after 10 years or so, I discovered psyllium seed that cured the condition entirely when I added it mixed in water before major meals - or before oily or in some cases even when I indulged in pig-out foods. My movements still were not perfect and recently, only the last 5 months or so I discovered flax seed meal or powder is even better - not quite as course in elimination and adding substantially more vitamins and nutrients as I understand it.

Either of course would be a life saver for anyone else out there who's an outcast because of runaway flatulence.

To people who are troubled with flatulence (gas) you may find ginger easier to find than fenugreek seeds -just add 1/4 tsp. of ground ginger to your pot of beans, cabbage, etc. -changes taste little or none.

Did not want caffeine from tea so we made tea with peppermint and added a teaspoon of cumin. It relieved very bad gas within minutes.

Caraway Seed Tea

Can't wait to try the Activated Charcoal, but in the meantime I've discovered that putting 1/2 tsp. of Caraway Seeds in your Tea (I'am using Red Clover right now, but Anise Tea would be "far" better), AND the combination of taking 1 tsp. whole mustard seeds (doesn't matter the color, I'am taking yellow), with water 3 times a day, (don't bite the mustard seeds, swallow whole) I can actually FEEL the combination fighting the bad bacteria, and I'am releasing more gas, but need to start using allspice in everything too! It's anti-flatulance as well!

If you stomach is distended after foods, you probably suffer from flatulence, it means you have excessive of stomach gas. One of the causes of flatulence is because you eat too much foodstuffs that cause stomach gas.

Here are the list of foods that give flatulence:

  1. Bean
  2. fruits such as melon, honey dews, pear.
  3. Cabbage, brocolli, cauliflower
  4. Fatty food
  5. Gassy drink

Do any of these foods give you stomach gas and flatulence?

Hi, Try this I have used this method twice both times with good results, take an 8oz cup of hot water into which you put 1/2 tspn (teaspoon)of ( WHITE PEPPER) mix and drink slowly or sip, then perform the 2 following exercises: standup and stretch hands above your head, then bend at the waist and try and touch your toes bend as far as you can, come back up to a standing position and then rotate your hips first one way then the other (the same motion you would use if you had a hoolah hoop) try and repeat all of the above till the gas clears, god bless.... may you be well soon.

When my children were newborns and they had gas, we would put a little anise seed into some water in their bottles to settle their tummy and de-gas them. It worked every time.

Caraway Seed Tea

I've suffered from bad bloating and digestive problems my whole adult life. I was told by one specialist that I probably have IBS, but that I didn't need to bother with tests because there's not much to do about it besides learn which foods to avoid etc. Eliminating milk (besides buttermilk/kefir and butter) and cutting down on grains in recent months has helped a lot, but I saw another doctor who pointed out that IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and I may as well find out if there's more to it than irritable bowels. So I'm now being tested for allergies, intolerances and any diseases that might be lurking in the stomach-area. I am excited to hear about the results of the tests, of course, but I'm more excited about just having discovered the wonders of CARAWAY-TEA! A few days ago it hit me: carraway seeds boiled with cabbage completely eliminates the otherwise hellish bloating (in me, anyway). So why not carraway on it's own?

And sure enough, just a teaspoon or two per cup of water (I either let the seeds boil for a few seconds before steeping, or crush them in a mortar and pour boiled water over) has made me a new and happier person. For over a week now I have been moving around with ease, no gas-attacks lasting for days or even hours, I'm no longer distracted by pains in my stomach and stiffness because of cramps. The strange thing is, it hasn't helped my over-all digestion because my bowel-movements are still helter-skelter. But without a doubt it works directly and efficiently on the gas. Supposedly you can chew it raw before meals, if you're prone to indigestion. I tried that, too, but didn't notice a difference so I'll stick with the after-meal tea (better-tasting than raw and dry).

Baking Soda

The aluminum in baking soda might not be good for pain in your kidneys. Aluminum is in many gas medicines, but it can damage your kidneys in large amounts. Go to the doctor if you've taken a lot of it and your kidneys bother you.

EC: Baking soda does not contain aluminum. It is nothing more than NaHCO3

Fennel Seeds

I use Fennel Seed for gas. I'm lactose intolerant so after eating ice cream or the likes I pop a fennel seed capsule & it stops the gas. You can also purchase the seeds instead of the capsules. They taste like black licorice which isn't my favorite so I bought the capsules. Fennel seeds are commonly used in India to freshen breath & aid in digestion.

The best remedy I have found for indigestion, acid regurge, GERD, flatulence is elimination of all bleached flour products in the foods you eat - I find I can eat l00% whole grain bread without problems (usually cures most people's constipation problems also). I don't know what chemicals? are used in the bleaching process, but apparently that is where the problem comes from. However, you must really work at getting bleached flour out of your diet, as many pastas are made with bleached flour, many breads say whole wheat but read the ingredients and you'll find that most start off with bleached flour unless the label reads l00% whole grain. Most gravies, dips, sauces, etc. use the cheapest source of thickening agent - bleached flour. So try it and see if it works for you. It's nice having a "cast iron stomach" which has no problems with cayenne pepper, jalapeno peppers, and all that spicy stuff I used to blame my stomach problems on before I lucked up and stumbled upon the real cause of them.

It isn't the bleaching process that makes it toxic. It is the pesticides used 2X on cheap commercial wheat. There is a lawsuit going on because the people who spray the stuff are becoming sick & dying. Try organic white flour if you like white bread. I have even seen people who are supposedly 'gluten intolerant' be able to ingest organic wheat products without issues.

I have been taking ACV (2 teaspoons ACV and maple syrup) for almost a week. I have been having problems with gas--terrible gas. Everything that I ate gave me gas. I noticed in the very same day that I took the ACV my gas pains have disappeared. However, one of my tooth that has multiple fillings is hurting me. Now I understand why. I will just use a straw. I love my ACV. I am trying to loose weight also.

Ginger

The best remedy for gas is ginger root extract, although ginger tea or ginger powder is fine. This will remove those gases from the stomach. If that doesn't help, you may limit bacterial growth with mannito added to the ginger tea (without sugar) or ginger supplement as this will prevent bacteria from sticking to the intestinal wall so they don't ferment harmful chemicals. And you can add on top of that oat bran everyday. The best is actually prebiotic, not probiotic, which means adding leeks, garlic, onion to the diet to have a normal intestinal flora, and alkalized which means 30 minutes after a meal you take say 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda at dinner and lunch for example. I have taken an interest in ginger because they limit lipid peroxidation, which doesn't mean much to most people but it means a great deal to me as it prevents artheriosclerosis, liver toxicity from oxidative chemicals and restores normal intestinal flora, and perhaps sleep.

Rosemary Tea
Posted by Debbie (Melbourne, Australia) on 06/21/2011

clj5775, bloating and gas is usually a sign that you are not digesting food properly. It is fermenting in your stomach. Probiotics (acidophilus) and digestive enzymes would be better than rosemary as it will help stop the problem occurring in the first place.

Milk also causes bloating and gas because pasteurisation has removed the enzymes needed for digestion. The probiotics and digestive enzymes help with that as well.

Bloating and gas may also be a sign of candida.

I have found by experience that taking one Citracal tablet (Calcium Citrate) twice a day is a total cure for my chronic flatulance. Of course, the added benefit of Calcium Citrate is stronger bones. But that's not why I take it. I take it strictly for gas. If there's ever 2-3 days when I fail to take it, I can certainly tell...pew!
