Lemon Balm
Posted by Meg (Grafton, WI) on 01/24/2009
★★★★★
Grow some lemon balm (melissa officianalis) in your garden. It is easy and prolific in a sunny spot. Just before it flowers, cut down about 1/3 of the plant and hang it upside down in a dry, out-of-the-sun place. When it is really dry (crumbles in you hand), crumble the leaves into a bag or dish. Discard the stems (makes good compost.)
Further chop/mince the lemon balm using a food chopper to as small as you can... this should be the consistency of ground spices or as small as you can go. If you can find gelatin capsules, get some and stuff the ground lemon balm into the capsules. You will get 1/2 to 1 teaspoon into a capsule. If you can't find capsules, take a teaspoon in some yogurt - let it soften a bit first.
At the first sign of a herpes outbreak, take one or two capsules 2 or 3 times during the day for a day or two. It will avoid or greatly minimize the outbreak. For an extra boost, take 3 to 4 garlic tablets at the same time. Both lemon balm and garlic seem to stop herpes in its tracks. Lemon balm is most effective. It helps to become attuned to your body so you can detect the subtle signs before they become a problem.

Hello David,
Since L-lysine 2 grams with 2 grams Vitamin C 4 times per day (suggest mealtime & bedtime) works to rid one of HSV-l, it should work on HSV-2 also. That is what I would be trying first off for any viral infection because I know it works on chicken pox (therefore should work for shingles or Herpes Zoster), mononucleosis (kissing fever) and several other viruses as well.

I've just started taking Monolaurin for an HSV-2 OB. Haven't had one in over three years. Not sure if I'm using the right amount, but it doesn't seem to be slowing or curing the sores. Has anyone else had experience using Monolaurin?

I have suffered with GH for close to 30yrs. One of the things that has helped stop an outbreak is to soak in a hot bath with epsom salts or other mineral salts. When I feel an outbreak coming I soak in the saltbath and the blisters either do not come out or go directly into the scab phase leaving out the painful part in the middle. I will try cutting out the sugar in my diet.

Just had an GH outbreak after going 9 years without one! It was a small cluster on the outside labia (not on the mucous membrane) I was devastated and didnt want to have to go through weeks of pain. I was willing to try anything, and i did! I tried the acetone remover trick and IT WORKED. I pressed a q tip to the small cluster of sores that had not broken open yet, about 10 times yesterday and kept the area VERY DRY with cornstarch all day and night. Today, they are healing over and almost gone! they didnt break open, they didnt scab over, they didnt get any bigger...they are healing and almost gone. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Do you have any idea why anything with a current would put me in even more extreme pain for a week or more.... Not being able to get up off the floor? That includes accupuncture, tens machine, electronic regenesis machine, accupuncture with a current. I think the zapper would do similar things to me. If you believe in hemaview - my blood showed no healthy cells, flooded with viruses, could only find 1 bit of candida. The naturopath suggested I had a immune system that wasnt working. But a zapper would be useful for killing some of these virus. Ive tried everything else suggested on here for virals. The earthing matt I use a grounding rod. The slight tingling I felt the first 2 nights I do not now.

Robyn, reading your post I can't help but comment anything that could possibly help you as you seem in a special needs group where there is little resolve. As for "wheatgrass", a wholesome "green" drink of many health-conscious folks. But I believe there is a common oversight concerning the wheatgrass. As far as benefits, the mature wheatgrass is way less than its younger stage as "wheat-sprouts". The sprouts are loaded w/ naturally occurring antioxidant enzymes that really supercharge the life of our cells. Have you tried the sprouts??? They would surely help your seeming free radical condition.
L-Lysine

For over twenty years I've witnessed L-Lysine work for family, friends, neighbors, and recently nurses at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Nurses claim they noticed it stunted the growth overnight. People with reoccurring fever blisters, cold sores, canker sores and I suppose herpes, too, may find relief. My mother, Nancy, had suffered with fever blisters in her youth. She felt they were triggered by stressful events in her life. And by paying attention to her own symptoms (nerve twitch in the area the blister intends to form) and taking L-Lysine she could keep the blisters from ever forming. Within an hour of feeling the twitch she would take no less than 3000mgs - 6000mg of L-Lysine and repeat treatment every two to three hours until bedtime. Upon rising she continued her assault until she had no symptoms (twitching nerve/nerves) for one complete day. Then she felt she had enough amino acids to squash its desire to produce. If she felt it again or felt one in another area she would slam another 3000-6000mgs to squash its desire as well. Everyone will find their own dosage through trial and error, too little and you'll blister, but keep taking the L-Lysine and you'll heal faster. Almost enough, a bump may form but not into an open sore. Always check dates for freshness because it has to be potent. The day before her mothers funeral she had 5 blisters, until then I never saw more than one. We eventually traced it back to her using an old bottle that had little or no potency. Some may require less and some seem unable to be honestly consistent with their dosages to squash the sore. Pound it down, we say, 1000mg tablets, yes they are big. If you prefer there are also 500mg tablets, available. It works!

Hey everybody! I learned of a very strange but very effective treatment for outbreaks at a Herpes Awareness Seminar in Illinois last year. It hasn't gotten much attention as it has only come to being in the last year or so. Anyway, all you have to do is soak a little bit of BBQ sauce on the area of the outbreak. The acids from the sauce seep into your skin and neutralize the problems. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and you will feel a slight 'tingle' effect. After that, clean the area off with water and then witch hazel. This really works and came as a huge relief to me! (Just one more thing, this only works when there is an outbreak present.) Glad to help!

Latex and oils shouldn't be used together. The oil will break down the latex. My understanding is that non latex male condoms are not as effective. Female condoms are not latex and have a higher success rate so might be a good choice to use with coconut oil. Drawback is that they are more expensive.

L-Lysine, Red Marine Algae, H2O2, Dietary Suggestions

I am commenting on the discussion about herpes and artificial sweeteners from the following link:
https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/herpes.html
I noticed I was getting more herpes outbreaks, and I suspected it was due to having slim fast shakes for breakfast. Just out of curiosity, I typed in "Slim Fast Herpes Outbreak" into Google and came across this discussion, where someone else mentioned they had a Slim Fast diet bar and immediately had an outbreak. I'm assuming the two are somehow related.
From the research I have done, the best herbal treatments for Genital Herpes is L-Lysine and Red Marine Algae. I also spray my groin area with Hydrogen Peroxide each night before I go to bed, and again in the morning when I wake up (about 20 mins or so before taking a shower). My doctor wants me on suppressive therapy (i.e., 500MG Valtrex per day), but I don't like the way it makes me feel, so I only take the Valtrex during outbreaks (2grams initially, and then 500MG twice daily until symptoms are gone) along with putting extra-strength Gold Bond Medicated Powder (Green Bottle) and Zovarax cream on the area during outbreaks, while spraying with hydrogen peroxide twice daily.
I've heard the following is also good for Herpes outbreaks: CoQ10, Echinachea, Pau D'Arco/Taheebo, Omega 3, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium, Zinc, Garlic, Cat's Claw, Lecithin, Organic Geranium, Lipoic Acid, Lemonbalm/Melissa Leaves, Tea Tree Oil, Multivitamins, and Orange Juice, but I can't verify any of that.
Do *NOT* use petroleum jelly, cortisone creams, or antibiotic ointments as they will make the outbreak worse or last longer.
***AVOID*** eating Gelatin, Chocolate, Carob, Oats, Whole Wheat, White Flour, Soubeans, and Wheat Germ.
Stress is the number one predictor of an outbreak, so get plenty of rest and exercise to minimize outbreaks.

Eat flounder. Here is how: Prepare without seasonings, after it is cooked, then u can season if u wish. I just squeeze fresh lemon or lime and eat weekly. It worked for this man and it is working for me. Change your diet and u will never have OB again. It stops it in its track Avoid chicken soups. I no longer live in fear. In the meantime I am working on curing it by using other things. Read my post. If u can't afford flounder. Use cod, tilapia or catfish. I try to use flounder since this is what worked for this man.

It definitely works but apply it as early as possible, then there is a chance the blisters will be avoided at all.. When you are late and the blisters are already there, try to rub the oil as deep as possible, even try some slight scratching, so oil enters deeper - I let it burn a bit down, then you get the best results..

Both lemon and ACV are acidic in nature but have an alkalizing effect when absorbed into the body. I eat lemon all the time (and take it w/ baking soda) and ALWAYS my pH level increases right after.

re: Genital Herpes on Face. Greetings! I have had'only a couple of outbreaks in the last 25 years but right now I have a very painful one on my lip as bad as my first one! Daily, I take two doses of lysine (2 500 mg. capsules each time). In the morning I take _____'s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, with lemon juice from our Meyer lemon tree and sweeten with 100% Pure Maple Syrup Grade B because germs and possibly viruses (?) do not live in pure maple syrup! I would not ever use baking soda in any form because it is harmful for the body and has something to do with aluminum. However, for the last few weeks I used a good form of honey because we were too busy to drive to where we purchase the maple syrup. (Trader Joe's) I also used to take a cool form of cayenne capsule that I will go back to doing. I really want to destroy this virus once and for all! However, maybe the only thing we can do is keep it at bay and I mainly have for the last quarter century. I hope that this helps!

I neglected to mention that the process via which it kills bad guys is oxidation and the byproduct of that oxidizing death of the bad guys is elemental oxygen. Hence, "stabilized oxygen". As stabilized oxygen, it is bound to the sodium from which it is released, upon the oxidation of the bad guy.

Bitter Melon

Bitter Melon for genital herpes. I used get the outbreaks every month for many years. One would finish and then a within a week it would be back. I went a few years like this. I then started working near a Chinese food court and quite often would eat bitter melon there. Thinking back that's about the same time my outbreaks started to decrease and came only 2 or 3 times a year. After getting on the net and doing some research about herpes I stumbled upon bitter melon as a weapon against herpes. Put 2 and 2 together. Must be something to it and I would say it's worth it to add it to your list of healthy "foods with benefits" list. Last but not least it's not called bitter melon for nothing. An acquired taste and can be bought in tea form too.

I took 3 tablespoons a day of coconut oil for over a month - since I hate coconut, I quit.
I saw great results when I applied coconut oil on the lesions - they would heal quickly, in less than 3 days. Sadly it didn't last long and by my third outbreak, the coconut oil had no effect on the lesions.

I eat coconut oil every day and gag each time I swallow it because it's hard to swallow oil but you can use it in your cooking, put it in a smoothy.... There are so many other ways to ingest it other than eating it straight from the spoon. Coconut oil has so many other healing properties.... Helps with metabolism, insulin, digestion... I use it on my skin and in my hair. You have to make sure you by the unrefined pure organic virgin coconut oil otherwise it won't work. :)

BHT

This worked the very first time out for me so maybe it will give someone else relief too. FYI....This will be a little long because genital herpes has ruled my life for so long so I've got a lot to tell. First I'll tell you what didn't work, Bach flower therapy, I tried it for six months, no, Choraphor was good when the lesions are active but for me, I experience a lot of discomfort before the actual outbreak so I hated waiting for a lesion to weep before doing anything about it. Then the pain applying to the lesion was too much in addtion to the price. Red Marine Algae, no, spirulina, no Lysine rich diet, no..monolaurin and lysine supplements, I think they are good in reducing the severity of colds and flu but not reducing the severity of genital herpes. I haven't had sugar in about a year, I don't wear binding clothes, I stopped chewing gum with aspartame....Everything I've used or tried, didn't seem to work. I was still getting outbreaks bi-monthly. (I'm not sure why, it may have to do with hormonal changes, I always get one right before my period and now I'm catching on, when I'm ovulating). As you can see, has been a quest. The only thing I didn't try was BHT. I had heard horror stories about it. However, I was so frustrated I finally purchased it and was only on my second day of taking it AND getting over a very bad outbreak of three lesions, when I felt another one was on its way. The pain in my leg was so great I knew it was going to be a doozy too. I immediately took 700 mgs of BHT as soon as I got home that day and took 700 mgs more in the morning and the evening for 2 days straight. Once I felt the lesion raising up, I also applied it topically. I broke open about 6 capsules of it and melted it in olive oil. I used a cotton ball to swab it on down there. What I liked about it was that it wasn't painful like Choraphor. I applied it topically for 2 days as well. After day 2 into day 3, all I had was the tiniest bump which I swabbed again. This is the fourth day, and while I still feel 'remnants' of the pain there are no active lesions at all. I know this doesn't mean I'm not contagious but at least I'm not suffering from the pain and discomfort. I'm going to buy the powdered version so that I won't have use my capsules again. Meanwhile, I read up on BHT and found that St. John's Wort can be used in conjunction with it to make it more effective. Since I've had outbreaks twice a month for almost 20 years I need all the help I can get. For now this is the regimin: 350 mg of BHT, one a day St John's Wort, and two to three shots of apple cider vinegar a day. I'm also taking Stress B Complex, Vitamin C, Multi-Vitamin and Calcium. I still have lysine and monolaurin left but I don't know if I'll continue taking it since it didn't help too much before. I just may take the minimum required of both lysine and monolaurin because as I said before it seemed to reduce the severity of colds and flu. For outbreaks, I'll up the dosage to 700 mg of BHT twice daily, and swabbed the infected areas with it melted in olive oil. Thanks to the anonymous person that posted it here, it really worked this time around, I'll keep you all posted. Maybe I'll have even more good news in a few months.

I have had herpes for several years and finally found an ointment that really helps with itching and heals lesions in a couple of days. It's call Lemon Balm for Wise Ways. I apply it with a q-tip to each lesion or with a cotton ball and the itching will automatically go away and stops the pain. I also use Olive Leaf Extract in capusle form and found this to work very well and L-lysine capsules as well. I am now going to try to use the APV directly and internally.
