After grovers diagnosis, my dermatologist stated to only use cleanser on areas of the body that are prone to odor - just water rinse on everything else. I didn't understand at the time, but the skin has a mildly acidic normal pH of 4.7 to 5.7 to maintain the right microbial flora (lower pH favors good bacteria and diversity) and over the course of a lifetime of using cleansers, soaps, and moisturizers, many of which have chemicals and alkaline pH, it's easy to recognize this is constantly throwing off the normal pH that becomes detrimental to healthy microbial diversity to keep the skin healthy. I think this contributed in my case as well as possible altered GI flora after episodes of antibiotic use. I'm currently drinking fermented milk kefir at home as well as using it on my skin. It seems to be making a difference but I've only been using this for less than a week now. I'll definitely update as time passes. I'm allergic to just about everything and hopeful the kefir will help that as well. As it seems everyone has different experiences and triggers, adverse GI and skin microbial flora could be a common contributor. There are many scientific research studies on fermented milk kefir that are all positive (not the store bought kind! ).
