Witch Hazel, Oregano Oil

I have mildly precautious gums, meaning I haven't been to the dentist in some time, and they do bleed when I brush my teeth, however I did find one thing that does clean your gums from the inside out by accident. First clean your feet with Witch Hazel using gauze, and at the corner of the gauze, put on 1 or a few drops of oregano oil, and within 15 seconds noticeable the first time, you will instantly notice the back of your gums being cleaned from the inside out - I've also heard that this cleans your blood system within 20 seconds, I definately felt circulation moving, and in the next day or two had some bruises, which is a definate sign of parasites being killed in your blood!
Raw Betel Nuts

All my gums have been receding and my teeth have been getting weak over a period of about 10 years, since a tooth cracked and I got a root canal. They are literally breaking up--I've had another root canal, and two-three more teeth will be cracking to the center within a short time.
One dentist said I brushed too often.
One dentist said I brushed too little.
One dentist said I brushed too hard.
One dentist said I brushed too soft...
None of them, or any others, had any clue what the disease/ condition is called, or what to do. (A few will, however, cut the roof off your mouth, then "paste" it around your teeth--putting you on the couch for a week and off of solids for three weeks--for a lot of money.)
I went to a doctor today, and he suggested I chew... BETEL NUTS. That's virgin betel nuts, before they've been doctored by the cute girls.
I'll see how that goes.
Too much milk is probably part of what made my teeth so bad. IIRC, exceeding two cups a day pulls calcium from the body.

You could also try rinsing your mouth w/ Oil of Oregano and water - 3 drops in 4-6 ounces. I cleared up or (kept at bay) a potential infection around the gum of a root canal cap/crown and after rinsing and also brushing my teeth with baking soda - the reddish appearance of the gum started to subside and now looks much healthier and cleaner. Believe it or not - oil pulling has also helped strengthen and (could it be true?) re-grow my receding gum line. Best of luck!

Hello Nina from Tallahassee -- thanks for responding. I went to New Leaf and special ordered the propolis, but haven't got it yet. I ordered the 30%. Hopefully it will help -- at least enough to keep me out of the periodontist's office! I've been oil pulling with Sesame Oil once in the mornings for 10-15 minutes -- have been doing this fairly consistently for about a month now and I've noticed my teeth are whiter and not so sensitive. I also take ACV morning & night - 2 Tbls - and chase it with Mona Vie acai berry juice - 2 oz - and WOW what a kick that is! I have a lot more energy and focus and just generally feel better. I will post again once I've given the propolis a go -- I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

For "gum" problems, make sure you are getting enough Vit C, Vit D, Magnesium, Calcium, Vit K2 and Iodine...and you may need more than you think. "Gum" disease is really bone disease. Instead of the gums pulling away and then the bone receding and teeth coming loose, it is the other way around...bone recedes first, then pockets form that fill with plaque and bacteria, causing the bone to recede further, and so on. All the dental work in the world cannot correct nutritional deficiencies.

I have great teeth apparently, but I'm having some issues with my gums right now, receding and all that, probably by not flossing, and brushing... but I want to know, has anyone ever tried mixing oil pulling with propolis? I get the sneaking feeling it would work VERY well.... but that's just me... I think I'm going to try it, unless someone shows me that it could kill me or something :P... but any feedback would be nice.

Gum Disease: Test Your Selenium
http://www.scienceblog.com/community/older/1999/D/199903194.html
"Results showed that selenium has the strongest association with gum disease, with low levels increasing the risk by 13 fold. "
*******
If 13 of 14 people with Gum Disease have low Selenium levels (93%), that looks like causation. Note: Selenium is an antifungal.
Chlorhexadine, a treatment for ringworm yeast, is the FDA approved treatment for Gum disease. It turns your teeth yellow, and is rarely prescribed.
Zinc has been proven clinically effective at reducing pockets.
Here is another treatment guide, notice the Metronidazole(antifungal used in rosacea treatment):
http://www.periodontaldiseasetreatmentguide.com/
It is a national tragedy and a huge detriment to oral health that fewer than 5% of general dentists in the U.S.A. and less than 25% of periodontists implement this periodontal disease treatment protocol. Variations of this protocol have been published for more than a decade.

Hello Vicki from Tallahassee, I didn't know what stores to find bee propolis so I went online and got mine from Club Natural. I used 25% instead of 30% extract since I couldn't find 30% anywhere. I started using it on the 25th of March every night. Like, you I do have sensitive teeth from where my gum had recessed. And it seemed to me like when I put it on it stings a bit where I had bum recession. It seemed too early to see if there's any results.
It would be great if any one had tried it and if indeed, cured their gum disease (stopped bone loss, regrow gum, erase sensivity) and how long it took to show results.
thanks!

I would like to know if anyone that used Bee Propolis with success did Oil Pulling after their gum was healed? Did the Oil Pulling affect the healed gum? As I mentioned in a previous post unrelated to this one. I had "Guided Tissue Regeneration" surgery done in December 2004 above 2 teeth. I came across Earth Clinic in January 2008 and decided to gargle/pull with Hydrogen Peroxide a couple of times before I learned about Oil Pulling. I am not sure how long I was Oil Pulling before I discovered the area that had the surgery done was completely clean, not a good thing for me in this case as the procedure costs just over $2,000. I imagine the Hydrogen Peroxide cleaned my gum but the Oil Pulling might have done the same thing. The dentist was after me to consider having an "Osseous, Allograft" done which is now a type of bone graft. I do not want to get it done because I want to continue Oil Pulling and believe it will wipe the gum clean again. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

I was wondering if Nina from Tallahassee was able to find bee propolis? I too am anxious to try it for my gums -- my dentist has referred me to a periodontist, but I can't afford it and am looking for alternatives. The propolis seems to be something that could actually turn my gum disese around. I found some Royal Jelly at our local health food store which contains propolis. I'm using it, but don't know if it's doing any good. I've got several sensitive teeth and the Royal Jelly really hurts when it hits those sensitive spots! Any suggestions on where I might get pure bee propolis? I read the post where it was suggested to use a "30%" propolis -- can I order from the internet?
Thanks so much for this site -- I've turned my whole family on to it and all are reporting success with the remedies they've tried! It's my new "daily read.

The proper way to use this for treatment of gum disease and recession would be to brush with regular toothpaste, floss and mouthwash, THEN, apply the bee propolis at night and wash it off in the morning when you brush you teeth? I've heard so much great things about bee propolis and I an excited to try it...once I can find it at the store. Thank you for this great remedy!
Avoid Fluoride in Water and Toothpaste

As for the fluoride, apparently 30% of americans have some dental fluorosis. Gum disease is very common as well. I suspect Fluoride may not be so good for dental stem cells. Iodine displaces fluoride, and seems to be a nice treatment for gum disease.
Providone Iodine and baking soda seems like a nice treatment... the fda approved treatment is chlorhexadine, but this may stain teeth. Here are a couple of medical articles and a patent discussing this remedy.

I have read that MMS (Miracle Miracle Supplement, which is sodium chlorite activated to become chlorine dioxide) is very good for gum disease. Do a google search on MMS and Jim Humble. You can buy MMS from e-bay, where I purchased it, or other internet sources. It's less than $20 including shipping. They say to mix 6 drops in a glass with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, wait three minutes, and add 1/4 cup water. Use this solution to brush teeth. Use a new solution every morning. Do not leave this solution in the mouth for longer than 60 seconds. According to Jim Humble, in his book "Breakthrough The Miracle Mineral Supplement of the 21st Century, part 2", expect a completely healthy mouth in less than three weeks.

Some people do have insurance however dental is sometimes very poorly covered as in my case. I dont qualify to be "poor" but I certainly cant afford to pay a dentist almost full reimbursement! I have to pay like 80+ per cent of the cost. My issue is I have gum disease and I what really need is dentures, but I cant afford to pay out of pocket 5000-8000 for extraction and dentures. I have a job but I'm not rich by any means. I wish some one at the top would seriously look at these issues. Your health is severely affected by the condition of your teeth. So I am always trying something natural for the pain and for the infection. Thank you all for your hints.CJ

★☆☆☆☆WARNING!
I want to warn everyone against using hydrogen peroxide orally. I brushed my teeth more than 6 months with it and wound up with 11 deep cavities that nearly cost me several teeth - I don't believe in root canals for the health disadvantages. I went on line and was shocked to read of a study that suggested the h2o2 penetrated the tooth enamel. Wish I'd read the study earlier. Yes, the h2o2 kills germs, but apparently there's no end of germs available in the mouth and they apparently are transported into the teeth where they grow cavities.
My son who followed me in this misguided endeavor, whose gums are not receded as mine are, and who never gets cavities, had two cavities at this time as well. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Hi, Regarding your gluely molar crowns. I do know what you are talking about. I had the same thing happen to me When I had to have an absess molor done down south. We found out that the glue the dentist used was to old. for one thing, also the crown was not completely covered in the back and was actually ozzing glue when I ate or drank warm foods or liquids. It also got so bad I stated getting sick from it anf I was becoming actually allergic to the glue.
When we moved from Tampa to Paris, Tn this newer Dentist used much more modern technics and totaly removed the older crown and redid the whole thing withih a newer porcyline and glue setup. Here is another thing to think about if you have some silver fillings next to it. Your problem may not be the molar but it could be the older silver filling mix they used in the some older fillings that has caused problems for folks too. Hope this helps. My Doc.Cathy(Dentist) as I call him, he is right on with giving me the straight scope on dental issues and he really has helped me alot in fixing up all my teeth.
I hope this info will help you to at least ask your dentist these issues about it anyway. Good luck and hopefully to become painfree. Denise Riddle

I just tough it out and take it with water, it isn't really that bad after you get use to it, shoot with all the health benefits I think I can handle the taste. Anyway I am so glad I started drinking it, now my husband is drinking it to, he just started we shall see how he does with it, he has high blood pressure I am hoping it will help him with that. Anyway just wanted to put my two cents in about the amazing apple cider vinegar.

★★★☆☆WORKED TEMPORARILY
Hi All
Any feedback to this would be greatly appreciated.
Almost 2 years ago, I had a molar crowned due to the insistence of a dentist (porcelain crown, metal base). Too late to say that I wish I hadn't trusted him. Anyway, since then I have had a regular "gluey" feeling between that upper molar and my eye on the same side. It's not painful, as such, but I can always feel the it and the connection between the crown and the right side of my head and my right eye. I do not want to have any dentist fiddling around unnecessarily in my mouth again, and was wondering if anyone would know what this is about, and what I can do. Also, I don't mind dealing with this for the rest of my life as long as it does not worsen. The ideal would be to get rid of this feeling altogether.
I use castor oil, HP, clove oil etc (haven't tried garlic yet), and they all help, but once I stop the congested, uncomfortable, tight feeling comes back. If it's a nerve, I do not want it to worsen - it's already been almost 3 years of a static situation. (I also had to have the bite adjusted twice, but there's still a slight problem).
Thank you all
Tristan

use hyrodgen proxide as a mouth wash it will kill all the bacteria in your mouth. if you read the instruction on the bottle of hyrodgen proxide it will say oral rince it will start to foam in your mouth thats when you know it is killing the bacteria. i have used 3% hyrodgen peroxide for many years with no side affect. avoide prolonged use just until the infection is gone. they say to use 1% hyrodgen peroxide because they are afraid it will damage your gums. feel free to research this remedy for yourself as dentists dont usually approve of it. maybe its because they want to make more money when all your teeth fall out..

Bee Propolis can be used as a liquid bandaid on wounds, I have experienced propolis to help wounds heal faster and take the redness out and be very soothing on open wounds, burns etc.. I also apply tincture of propolis to my gums when they are irritated and plan on using it daily to prevent further infections, here is a website that explains more about propolis. http://www.draperbee.com/info/propolis.htmetc. The Properties of Propolis Propolis is another medicinal marvel from the beehive. Research shows it offers antiseptic, antibiotic, antibacterial, antifungal, and even antiviral properties. Propolis is Nature's premiere preventive. It is so powerful in action, it is often called Russian penicillin in acknowledgement of the extensive research the Russians have mounted on this wonder worker from the bees. Propolis demonstrates strong antimicrobial properties against various bacterial and fungal infestations. Even streptococcus bacteria have been shown sensitive to propolis.

I have periodontal disease and have found that brushing with oregano oil has really improved my gums and to stop tooth pain. I have stopped using toothpaste, now if I use it, I find it doesn't clean my teeth as well as the oil does and my mouth still feels "dirty". The taste does get some time to get used too. I started out by using only one drop, but now use 3 drops on my toothbrush. I bought a good quality oil, not the alcohol tincture. I first discovered brushing with oils when I researched the net and found a product that was quite expensive, I liked it, but didn't like the cost. I tried brushing with tea tree oil but found that to be very offensive, reminded me of brushing with pine sol. The oregano is quite strong, so try not to get it on the back of the throat, I'm so used to it now that I love brushing my teeth with it, then I rinse with an alcohol free mouthwash and that takes care of the oregano smell, my breath and mouth feel clean for hours, even through out the night, in the morning I awake with a clean feeling mouth.

Healthy Teeth & Gums & ACV: I take ACV occasionally and recently after a few mornings of 2 tbsp mixed with water I developed a shooting intermittent nerve pain from an exposed area above a tooth where the gum has receded. I can't get to the dentist for a few weeks so I searched on the web for some help & came across this tooth powder recipe. In addition to staying away from acid foods, it seems to be helping..after a few days I no longer have the pain. I also added Myrrh & Bentonite Clay to the recipe. The Prickly Ash Bark gives a wonderful tingly sensation. Be sure to use an alkaline base vit C/Calcium formula. I used Sodium Ascorbate & Hydrilla (Natural Alkaline, plant with high Calcium) I think Ted is right on about acid & teeth health...& finally research on your own, be creative & trust your intuition.
Tooth Powder
3 parts baking soda
1 part sea salt
3 parts calcium-magnesium-vit c powder
3 parts finely ground prickly ash bark
1 part echinacea powder
1/2 part goldenseal powder
Optional: peppermint essential oil to taste
Combine the ingredients and shake well. Use about 1/4 tsp on a wet toothbrush.

I have no insurance and can't afford a dentist, so had to find a way to deal with tooth problems naturally. I've lost several fillings that occassionally cause infections. First thing I do is oil pulling with grapeseed, coconut or olive oil. Within a very short time the pain is down a fair amount, but of course the abscess is still there, filled with pus. Until that is emptied, the infection will remain. I use a dental instrument with an extremely sharp end and pierce the infected spot, then squeeze out as much of the pus as I can. This immediately cuts the pain down a whole lot more... now its just leftover soreness. I then do oil pulling again, followed by a good rinse of hydrogen peroxide. This cure works for an abscess every time.
PREVENTION: I haven't been to a dentist in over 12 years, despite the fact that I have huge holes in a few back molars due to missing fillings, and the cavities have NOT gotten worse. In fact I have fewer dental problems now. I no longer use commercial toothpastes. Obviously it would be best to have the regular mercury fillings removed and replaced... since I can't afford that procedure ... This is what I do instead...
I brush my teeth with BAKING SODA, followed by a HYDROGEN PEROXIDE rinse. Sometimes I start this with an OIL PULLING first. I often work on my teeth with just a toothbrush kind of absent-mindedly as I'm studying something on the internet. This pretty well removes most food particle and plaque. I recently bought one of those electric rechargeable toothbrushes, which works really well with the baking soda.
As long as I do these things regularly, I don't get any abscesses, cavities have not gotten any worse and may have actually gotten better, my teeth are whiter and feel cleaner, my gums are much healthier and all "pockets" have disappeared. It also prevents bad breath, and my tongue and gums are pink and healthy.
This has worked better for me than any dentist recommended procedure. I just wish I had known about it years ago. I'm absolutely sure I would have never gotten a cavity in the first place. Get rid of your commercial toothpaste and try this... you'll be glad you did!!!

Turmeric

I began getting increased trouble with acne rosacea flares (this is quite a different condition from acne vulgaris/teenagers acne). The flares were happening despite my already taking fish oil and an antibiotic ointment from the dermatologist did not help much. Then, I read in the news that acne rosacea is caused by a build up of inflammatory by products in the skin.
At once, I thought of using turmeric. I mixed turmeric spice with water and dabbed it on my flare spots. I had to scrub hard to remove it next day as it stains the skin, but 3 days later, my flare spots were gone. I take 1 teaspoon of turmeric in water each day, internally.
Then, I had to have a dental procedure where they had to do a lot of digging around in the gum to install a temporary crown. I was told my gums would feel sore and to take some ibuprofen. Instead, I swirled turmeric in my mouth after brushing my teeth, letting it reach all my gums, then swallowed it. I did this every night for the next 3 weeks. I had no gum pain at all and when I returned to have the crown installed, the dentist was amazed at how healthy my gums were. I told him I'd used turmeric.
Warning---turmeric stains white cloth and clothing, and it will probably stain artificial dental implants and dentures. But if you have all your teeth and want something extra for healthy gums, turmeric is amazing stuff. Warning..it may constipate in considerable dosages so if you have to use a lot of it, increase both fluid and fiber intake.
