Eating Dinner Earlier

Hi, I've suffered from HS for 15 years. I have tried turmeric and that has worked for me to a certain extent. But I wanted to share something that has worked for me and has transformed my life. If I ate my last meal of the day after 8pm you can guarantee that the next day I would have a flare up. And the later I ate the worse the flare up would be. Eating dinner/last meal of the day between 7-8pm has changed my life. Now for the last 3 years I have been ok, only having occasional flare ups when my body is extremely tired from overwork or I eat late when I don't have a choice. I hope this helps someone else too. Give it a try for a week and see if it helps. Good luck, I wish you well.

You can cure Hidradenitis Suppurativa, I did this :)

All you need to do is to apply apple vinegar using cotton to your affected area. Leave it there all night long . Do this for 1 week and you will start to see the results.

It is so simple but really effective.

Top Remedies Summary
Posted by Yasmin (London, Uk) on 09/06/2010

Hi - I have been a mis-dagnosed Hidradenitis Suppurativa sufferer for over 10 yrs old and I am now 33 yrs old. I am so grateful that I found this site - I had almost given up and thought I will just stay single, as I can't imagine getting undressed in front of someone new... But now I have some hope, and that's what makes the world go round! I cannot offer any more tips, but I consolidated all / most of the ideas I saw on the forum for my own benefit, and have posted it below as I thought it might help someone else... Note these are not my suggestions but just a single posting with all of the suggestions with the most positive feedback.....

Things to consider eliminating from your diet:
Wheat / flour / gluten / dairy / caffeine / cigarettes

Daily:

3 times a day:
Turmeric mixture (the fat is important for absorpotion, as it water temperature)
1 tsp of turmeric; 1/16 of a tsp of black pepper; 1/2 to 1 tsp of coconut oil in 8 oz hot soup; broth or water (when an infection is severe it must be taken 4 times a day and it does miracles in two to three days)

Also:
Apple Cider vinegar - 2 tea-spoon full in glass of water (sip slowly throughout the day - also good for weight loss)

Omega Oils - Follow dose

Burdock Root (tablets) - Follow dose

Once a day
Bring 1 tsp of black onion seeds to a boil in one glass of water keep it boiling until the white part of the seed shows, let cool off and drink it

Topical: Tea tree oil, Epsom bath salts, Witch Hazel, Iodine, antibacterial soap (bar not liquid)

Less common Suggestions:
- Bacitracin Ointment to be taken up / in the nose twice a day
- Bee Propolis (a wood supplement)

Note: Make sure you get a bacterial swab to ensure it is HS and not MRSA as there are similar symptoms

Antibiotic Ointment in the Nose
Posted by Rob (Palm Desert, Ca) on 09/13/2015

Hi, I wanted to tell you my remedy for HS. I did use the bacitracin up my nose, still do every evening, sometimes during the day just to keep it moist. I noticed prior to my first ever HS (June 2015) this year (I'm 55) that I had a pimple like sensitivity in the tip of my nose; inside; I thought I had a pimple. I got this sensitivity twice, prior to my eruption under my right arm pit. Since I read the post about it being a strep, which makes so much sense, I stopped shaving at all, (I was afraid it could come from the metal of the razor).

I started taking Turmeric 450 mg 3x a day (Costco brand with olive leaf) I also DO NOT use deodorant anymore. What I do is have a bowl of Baking Soda and pat it under my arm, let the excess fall into the sink, and Voila, no odor ever! I also cut out night shades (peppers, mushrooms, eggplant), I was eating a red, or yellow, pepper almost every other night in a salad. I stopped. No tomato sauce, or spices like paprika, or Spike, or even seasoned foods like Orange Chicken.

I had cut out milk products 3 months earlier only because I didn't want to have the fat hormones that accompany milk products. No cheese. You must be vigilant. We must first look at our diets.

The first HS I had, the doctor cut and packed it - never again. I screamed so bad he lost 5 patients that day. That one healed, still red though and I shaved to test it, and 3 more erupted. Back to doctor for antibiotics 2nd time in 2 months. (I hadn't taken antibiotics for over 20 years). These I did not have the doctor touch. But he said I may have to have that surgery. In my mind I said NO WAY. The surgeries have not stopped HS from what I read. I followed my routine above and have not had another. It has made me look at food, my shower, razors, my gut, my stress. Hey any of you have mold in your shower? Strep is all around us, however when your immune system is compromised, or taxed we can't fight this off. I hope this information helps someone!

A year ago I was so exhausted from the pain of an HS wound. I prayed to God to please heal my body. I have had this condition for over 30 years. When I woke up the next day after saying my prayers I found this post. So I tried it. I put organic first harvest olive oil in my groin area morning and night like stated in the post. My groin has not look this good for a long long time. It works!!! Glory be to God!!!

Deodorant Connection

i used to get horrible boils (golf ball to baseball size) under my arm pits. i had a doctor suggest that i may have a condition known as (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hidradenitis-suppurativa/DS00818) Hidradenitis Suppurativa, he said this was incurable. i do not believe in incurable conditions. After lots of research and a trip to a local allergy specialist i found that was actually allergic to aluminum zirconium, a very common ingredient in antiperspirants (see http://health.howstuffworks.com/question627.htm for more information) i switched to an antiperspirant withouts actually allergic to aluminum zirconium and the boils stopped.
My allergy Dr. told me that alot of people actually get misdiagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa because of boils in the armpit when all that is wrong with them is their choice of antiperspirant. i also want to point out that i have seen this ingredient listed on several feminine hygiene products for moisture control.

Borax

I'll start by saying I was skeptical about taking Borax-but after reading many of the posts here & on other sites-I decided to go for it. I figured worse comes to worse, I'd have an excellent cleaner!

Anyway-I was looking for something to help w/Hidradenitis Suppurativa-which is basically cysts in your armpits, sometimes in groin & under breasts. It's horribly painful & can be embarrassing-especially when they burst. Doctors have no idea what causes it either & is treated w/tetracycline-a strong antibiotic or biologics &/or incisions & draining them.

That doesn't cure it-they come back. And no one should be on tetracycline or biologics all the time!

I started taking 1/8 of a teaspoon dissolved in a bit of warm water right after breakfast.

I started it on Monday-today is Saturday & the cysts are all gone! I'm shocked it worked so quickly!

I'm also an insomniac-I have been since I was a kid-& w/in a couple days I was falling asleep easier & staying asleep! I've been able to go off a couple of OTC meds I was using to fall asleep also in just a couple of days!

I also have fibromyalgia & usually have a flair up a couple times a week-but not this week! I'm knocking on wood that I don't have any more of them-but even if the flare-ups are just lessened it would be great news for me.

FYI-I didn't really have any herxing & I'm hoping I don't-but regardless, I'd continue taking this amazing mineral.

Thank you, Ted, for spreading the news of this natural medicine! You've literally changed my life!

B12

Just an update to my prior comment. The high dose B12 (2,000 mcg) was keeping me up at night so I stopped it. I then switched to a B complex that had more than the 100 mcg from the one I had been using (400 mcg) and thankfully it was enough to maintain the therapeutic effect. I can still eat nightshades and other trigger foods without causing a flare. So play around with the dosage and find the one that is right for you. 100 mcg daily was not enough but the 400 mcg in my new B Complex was enough to keep the flare ups at bay.

Avoid Acidic Food, Hyperthyroid Link

I want to keep this short.

I was suffering from Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) for almost 10 years. I started taking ACV when I was in the Middle East and the HS problem started. I was never able to link it to ACV. When returning back to my home country, I stopped taking ACV and the problem of HS was completely gone.

I recommend anyone suffering from HS to avoid acidic/high citrus foods such as lemon, ACV etc.

Last week I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and I read some papers that are linking HS with hyperthyroidism. Please do check with your doctor and do some research. I know how painful these skin problems are and just sharing my observation here.

Chlorophyll and Hydrogen Peroxide

Chlorophyll and Hydrogen Peroxide for Boils/Hidradenitis Suppurativa

I had trouble with genital boils for several years. It turns out they were caused by hidradenitis suppurativa. I also had a recent bout with cellulitis on my calf; that was fixed by green smoothies. Earth Clinic is my go-to for any health issue, so I've tried the turmeric, which worked the first few times but made my stink worse.

Because of the odor from boils, I used tea tree oil during showers and also applied it before dressing. It smelled great, but that didn't reduce or drain anything.

Chronic body odor and halitosis were the reason I started taking chlorophyll. They have somewhat improved since I replaced the liquid version with the gelcaps, surprisingly. Since chlorophyll fights staph, my new breakouts are small and painless even if I have starches or sweets. They also heal quickly. My memory and stamina are also improved.

I still had awful, dark scars from the cellulitis. I've had melasma on my chin for years, too. Someone here recommended hydrogen peroxide for acne scars, so I tried it. The cellulitis scar is fading, and it's only been about a week. I also use it on my elbows and knees. One elbow is showing marked improvement.

Here's the kicker. Earlier this week, I tried the peroxide on those chronic boils before bed because of intense itching. Yes, I worried that it would burn, but it didn't. They were greatly reduced in the morning. Generally, they would be painful to wash during bathing. Not anymore! Today is day four or five, and, as happened yesterday, I had a normal shower without pain. This time, I put some on the boils after the shower, and I expect they'll only improve. I'll continue putting peroxide on them at bedtime.

I also take ACV for hot flashes, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and Type 2 diabetes.

Thank you, Father! Thank you, Deirdre Layne! Thank you, Earth Clinic!

Hidradenitis - I drink 1 cup of Organic Spearmint tea, 1 teaspoon of Manuka Honey UMF 15+ and 800mg Tumeric by capsule each day. This has eliminated my HS outbreaks.

Applying the Manuka Honey directly to the HS outbreaks has eliminated the scarring and discoloration.

Prebiotics and Probiotics

I must tell you my findings for HS. I have been taking a pro-biotic and now a pre-biotic which helps good bacteria grow in your gut. HS is a manifestation of your gut being off. Its not about hygiene, hormones or whatever the doctors want you to believe. They don't know. I'm telling you get a good probiotic take it 3 times a day if you are having issues with this terrible HS. I've cured myself. I decided it had to be something we all do. Antibiotics, for kids the elderly who never had HS, women, Men doing surgery which didn't help! UGG. Please get a probiotic that will start righting the very low good bacteria you have in your gut. It helps and a prebiotic is even better it helps proliferate the good bacteria and as it grows you have less HS. Don't take my word for it just start ingesting a good one. I am cured, and I live in a hot desert where I sweat. Nothing to do with HS just an easy way for the strep to get out.

Physician heal thyself. Take a responsible step to your own health. God Bless

Weight Loss

Hi, all, I am 54 years old and was diagnosed with HS around 6 or 7 years ago. My case was basically contained in my armpits. My doctor drained and excised many boils (he referred to them as "carbuncles") and I have the scars to prove it! Never once, however, did he prescribe antibiotics. He told me to stop shaving and find another method of hair removal, try to find a deodorant alternative and, most importantly in his opinion, he told me to *lose weight*, saying that this condition is largely exacerbated by carrying around extra weight. Over a period of two years I lost 60 pounds and I have not been bothered with HS again, not in the least bit. I am convinced that there is a link. By all means, if turmeric works for your case and gives you relief, go for it! But if you're overweight, I highly encourage you to resolve to slim down (for multiple reasons! ). Even after losing 20 pounds I noticed a huge difference in how this disease presented itself.

Bandaids
Posted by Jaynee (Los Angeles) on 06/03/2016
★★★★★

So this may be archaic but I found bandaid Tough Strips (not the fabric ones) are a godsend for me. They are waterproof and stay on through showering and sex. I have HS in my groin area and it is triggered by stress and hormones. I can not wear underwear on a regular basis or the friction will cause an abscess. This poses a problem during my periods because I need to wear underwear on at least 2 of the days and hope I do not get one. What I do is put one of those bandages over an existing abscess or budding abscess. It creates a barrier between my groin and the side of my leg so that when I walk there is no friction and I can stop limping. It doesn't hurt and if I leave it on long enough my body will reabsorb what is inside the abscess and it will go away on its own. This has taken up to a couple of weeks before, but that was when I was super stressed so it was trying to get worse not better anyway. Usually less than a week. If the bandage comes off for some reason I just put on another one. It has just been so helpful so I wanted to share.

Multiple Remedies

I'm 47 years old, decided to clean up my act put myself on all organic, all natural diet, take supplements & yes, I needed to lose about 60 lbs. So, when I bought yet another deodorant, that claimed to be all natural, I actually thought I'm doing something good for my body. About 6 hrs after applying this deodorant, I felt a discomfort under my left armpit only, it also smelled sweaty; but because I started a new work out routine, I just attributed it to the muscle soreness. Same night increased soreness woke me up from sleep. I found raised red bumps under my left armpit, with what felt like swollen lymph nodes, pain radiated to left side of left breast. Naturally I freaked a bit, started searching & found many sites, but the:

https://doctorrennie.wordpress.com/category/diseasesconditions/dermatology/page/2/

confirmed that it is Hidradenitis Suppurativa. This was 4 days ago. My armpit is pain-free and clear now. This is what I did:

1. I drank 1 Tbs of organic turmeric powder in 16 oz warm, (not hot), filtered water flavored with 1 oz of ACV, & 1 Tbs of Manuka raw organic honey -- all of this 3 times per each day.

2. Twice a day I cleansed my armpit with sensitive liquid soap, (used Dove) with a tsp of tea tree oil mixed into it; gently rubbing it with cotton puff if preferred, or just use fingers, absolutely no need to scrub, run warm water over as much as you can stand. It felt ridiculously painful when it first appeared, I could barely stand rinsing it with water.

3. after cleansing & gently patting it dry with toilet paper, I applied a mix of 1 oz of organic turmeric with 1 Tbs of same Manuka honey, making rather thick paste & then spread it on my entire armpit, it will run a bit, so wear black, as turmeric stains everything permanent yellow, but make sure no cloth is touching your pit, (or you will waste the paste you just made by having your clothing absorb it, just clamp your arm down & ace wrap it if neccessary.

4. Started taking 1 gram of Vit C, 300 mg Vit E with 50 mg Zinc, all 3 x day. This is in addition to my other supplements that I had been taking prior to this.

The swelling, redness & pain went away within 2 hrs of 1st application of the turmeric/manuka paste! I cried with joy, because the pain & swelling relief was so apparent.

I do not shave, just occasionally trim my armpit hair & have never had this happen to my entire armpit. When I used to shave I remember that I had one "pimple" pop out, which I quickly stopped with epsom salt soak, but cotton ball quickly became rough & it was painful, so I stopped shaving, had no problem until this deodorant application, or at least I think this did it.

Also, online, there is a rising consensus & a possibility that HS is an autoimmune disease. Now I already have rheumatoid arthritis, and HS is listed on many sites, as a "side-effect" of autoimmune disease. As much as I love my tomatoes & potatoes, eliminating all nightshade family plants from my diet helped greatly in controlling RA.

Anne, I know its been over two years since you posted about your supposed HS, but I thought I'd comment anyway. I do not believe you had or have HS. HS is a chronic, debilitating skin disease that has no cure. You had a few cysts pop up overnight and suddenly with a cleansing and antiseptic regimen for a few days they were gone. HS is definitely not that simple. You have this for your entire life at this point due to no cure. I am 55 and have had HS for 35 years. It is carried through the blood and there is just recent research stating that HS is an auto immune disease. It is also genetic. My daughter has had it since she was 14 and she has it worse than I. I'm glad for you that your cyst cleared up, but know that HS would not appear and then clear up like that. Oh how I wish it did.

The idea is not original. I got it from the Internet and I forgot exactly where.

My son got his attack of Hidradenitis Supperativa on Friday. He took tumeric and zinc capsules/ pills, on Friday evening and on Saturday, morning & evening and Sunday, twice a day to the present. Saturday evening we used Ichthammol ointment on it (first with just tissue over it and the second time on Sunday, a bandage was used). On Sunday also a LED UV auto-leak-detection little 2 AAA battery flash light was place right on top of the boil for 5 minutes . This was done also for three minutes after the boil popped the next day (about 24 hours after the first flash light application.) We are continuing with the pills and are now using neosporin instead of Ichthammol ointment

I would like to get in touch with Hs/ai New Hampshire, 02/15/2014 to inform him of this.

I am 75 years old, no advertisement nor religious propaganda has been made and I just wish to thank everybody for their help.

Sexual Link
Posted by Ana (New York, NY) on 08/15/2014

I have been suffering from HS for the past 10 years. I have tried antibiotic, surgery, tea tree oil, antibacterial soap and it just keeps coming back worse and worse. I noticed that if I am sexually active and experience an orgasm, the very next day I will flear up. I wait few days until I feel better and again experience an orgasm and the lump comes up again the very next day. It never fails. It is very frustrating to know that I can be sexually active without having a break out. Is there any relationship between HS and sex? Any one has any information about this.

Omega 3 Oils
Posted by Donna (Pensacola, Fl, Usa) on 04/14/2013
★★★★★

When I was younger I started having a problem with boils in very uncomfortable places. They often had to be lanced. Both the problem and the cure were very painful! They began to occur with increasing frequency until I was getting them about every two weeks and missing a lot of work. I was at my wit's end. The gynecologist said it was clogged glands, the dermatologist said it could be hydradenitis suppurativa. I researched that and was horrified to think that was what I could be facing. It's not a pleasant problem.

While doing a little research on it, I came across a posting on an internet forum by a doctor advising people that hydradenitis suppurativa was caused by body oils that became thick and clogged pores which then became boils or carbuncles. (His explanation was better than mine as I am working from memory and it was 15-20 years ago.) He recommended taking Omega 3 oils. I immediately realized that I had been having a remission of the problem for awhile because I had been doing the Atkins diet and taking quite a lot of oil capsules on a daily basis for a year. It had been about 6 months since I stopped taking them because I stopped the diet and the boils had come back to my great dismay.

I immediately started taking them again and the problem was relieved. I have consistently taken oils since then (usually flax seed oils but sometimes fish oils or a combination) and find that as long as I get regular doses, I don't have boils but if I go for too long without it they come back. When I realize that I am starting to get one then I immediately start the oil regimen and they resolve.

I am also prone to Psoriasis or Eczema around my ears and on my scalp. I was not having much luck treating that either but it occurred to me that maybe I was low on oils again so I started taking them and it seemed to clear up. Maybe that was a coincidence but nothing else was working and it had spread all over my scalp and was itching like crazy.
