I've tried the Folic Acid 800 MCG, 3% Hydrogen Peroxide/water douche 50/50 mix, and Acidiphilus Probiotic (500 Million Organism/tablet) remedy for recurring BV. I'd suffered and suffered from BV. I didn't know the cause, my Doctor didn't know the cause. I felt like a broken record. I felt gross and dirty. I felt I was not treating this problem properly. I was going to keep shelling out money for products and medicines that were only temporary fixes. I'm DISGUSTED that our doctors don't take this BV problem more seriously. They should be recommending this natural remedy and stop filling us with antibiotics that are so harmful. THANK YOU SO MUCH(!!!) for helping not only me, but my fellow sisters in our fight against recurring BV

Well, i found this website last night while searching for a natural cure for BV, that would be safe during pregnancy. And all i can say is THANK YOU!! i immediatley ran out to Walgreens and got peroxide, folic acid, acidophilus, AND probiotic. i haven't used the probiotic, i got it becuase i read it on some of the comments. i did the peroxide/water douche last night... i didn't read but a few comments that said that it hurt or stung a little... but oh my GOD!! did it hurt! i think i must've been pretty raw, because, i was nearly crying at the pain of it. i was gasping for air it hurt so bad. But i did it a second time (i didn't douche all the liduid in the bottle and figured i might as well do it all) and that time it wasn't nearly as painful. i was sitting on the toilet for a good minute with the pain i felt the first time. and i must say, i woke up this morning, and have yet to see any discharge. i also took the acidophilus and folic acid before i went to bed, we'll see how that works. i think i'm going to do another peroxide/water douche today and tomorrow to be on the safe side and continue with the folic acid and acidophilus.

i was convinced that my boyfriend had been cheating on me, becuase for a while i had a hectic schedule at work and he had his hectic schedule at work, so playtime was nearly out of the question. and when we would play, i would get the BV EVERYTIME. so i was convinced he was cheating. we were having sex maybe 1 or 2 times a month. i quit my job, and we've been seeing more of each other and this was the first infection of 2008. and the doc kept reassuring me that BV is NOT an STD. or STI.. but, i'll repost in a couple of days and we'll see how things turn out!

3% hydrogen peroxide, folic acid, and probiotic acidophilus works wonders. I tried 3% hydrogen peroxide, folic acid and probiotic acidophilus to cure my cronic BV. I had be suffering from BV for about 2 years and I tried all the medication and nothing worked. It would clear up for a few days then return with a vingance. Everytime I went to the doctor she would always insinuate the I was sleeping around she didnt believe that I had been with the same person for 2 years because Im 21 years old she even gave me medication for TRICH which I didnt need. When I came across this site I was so releaved that something natural finally worked. So to everyone out there thanks for the remedy and does anyone have any suggestions as to do you think I should use this remedy on my boyfriend

U got to be kidding me.I can't not believe it! It is finally gone. My bv left in one day! I don't know to be happy that others suffer from this or not! I did the folic acid, perixiode and acidoliphis (sorry for mispellig). I'm cured. I'm still taking the pills and I only douche after sexual intercourse because it trows your ph level off. I'm happy again. Tell a friend!

Thanks to someone that pointed me to this site and the site itself I tried the 1/2 peroxide and water douche. I saw immediate results no odor what so ever. I felt so fresh and clean. I also took a double dosage of Folic Acid and Acidophilis. I will update in a few months on my progress. However immediately I can tell a difference. Thank you so much to all!

I personally use food grade hydrogen peroxide as the pharmacy bought stuff (generally in the brown bottles) is full of toxic stablizers. Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide is purchased online or at natural food stores. I recommend getting the 35% and diluting down (with distiled water only! ) to 3% (3% is the same strength as whats in the brown bottles. Using 35% straight without dilluting will burn you, and should be handled with care. It is very concentrated).

Once diluted to 3%, I use that straight. I don't do a 50/50 mix with water. I also took acidophilus, and in one day it cleared up a combo yeast and bv infection. First go. I've never experienced anything like this before. It took about 3 days to heal the damaged tissue on the outside of my vagina, but once the infection was gone (instantly) it started healing, and was better in no time. I can't say enough good things about it. YAY for sure!!!

Wow! Hydrogen Peroxide seems to work for me. I've battled yeast/bv for the last 4 years, and I am 23 now! It seems to me that it's my boyfriends chemistry. I have always been the relationship type and have had 3 serious boyfriends. The first.. I had noooo problems with yeast, or bv!! The second, and now my current one... Like whoa.. Every time we have sex I get worried... Which is a lot. I'm not over weight, or unhealthy... So it sucks to face a reoccurring problem and not be sure of the triggers!!! Anyways ladies, I feel your pain... It's no fun to smell, or be itchy... Or feel unsexy!! Luckily I don't have much trouble being open about this sort of thing. I volunteer at a sexual health service... And I'm in my last year of a cell and molecular bio degree... Sooo I know... A lot... A lot... About stds, gential infections.. And microbes!! And I know.. Regular douching is definitely not recommended... It can induce new oppurtunisitic bacteria into your vaginal canal, which may even bypass your cervix. Problems.. PID, or parasitic bacterial colonial growth! Not fun, and dangerous!!!!! Shower heads actually contain these oppurtunisitic bacteria I am referring to, in biofilm for! Biofilms are up and coming in biomedical research as the films make it difficult for antibiotics to penetrate and kill the colony. So, for the love of your lady parts, do not m------e with a shower head!!!!! Only use clean, sterilized toys!!! Anyways, with my knowledge about bacteria... This may help you guys... Bacteria have particular growth phases, which begins with a lagging growth, exponential growth, a peak and then death as all the nutrients of the surrounding environment are usually 'used' up. Some bacteria do survive, of course.. And this is what causes the next flare up when conditions in your vagina are favourable for the bad bacteria causing bv (ie. Good temp, abundance of nutrients, no toxins). Basically bacteria are at a tug of war in the vagina... Producing by-products from their metabolism to keep one another at bay... Hydrogen peroxide is produced by lactic acid catabolizing bacteria.. So we want these guys nice and healthy to combat the guys causing the fishy, odour and slight discomfort. I was never a fan of antibiotics... They are over prescribed sadly, and bacteria replicate so quickly, it's no wonder they've evolved and adapted so quickly to maintain their replicative properties in regards to antibiotic exposure... Anyways, that's why I believe hydrogen peroxide is a great solution.. Rather than dosing the entire body with an antibiotic that has side-effects and also may inhibit growth of the good hydrogen peroxide producing bacteria we are deficient in during the time of infection!! Anyways, I tried it with a douche (50 3% h2o2/50 tap h20). Also, I soaked a tampon in it over night.. I've got to say.. This was my first time ever douching, and it was a bit uncomfortable... But I feel like even this morning my vagina doesn't have an odour, and looks really great! So, I don't recommended douching of you are healthy.. But as a local treatment for bv, I feel like there are significant advantages over metrodiazole... 1. Doesn't kill the bacteria we want, 2. No nasty stomach upsetting side effects, 3. Immediate results and relief, 4. It's mimics the lactic acids bacteria natural defense to the bad odourous bacteria. I do want to touch on the lactobacillus acidophilus as well.... I talked about the growth cycle of bacteria earlier in this discussion and this is reallllyyyyy reallllllyyyyy important to keep in mind when purchasing 'active/live' bacterial cultures! If they are in a bottle on the shelf at room temperature.. They are dead.. Gone.. Do not buy it!! Do not waste your money!!!!!!! Incubation temps of this bacteria are notttttttttt at that temperature, and without a complex medium to serve its metabolic needs (as it's stuffed in a capsule) it is goooonnnnneeeeeeee. Only buy ones chilled/from a fridge so that the live cultures have been basically stunted in growth(kept in lag phase) until they reach favorable temps. So only by chilled capsules and keep then in the fridge until uou use them, also check the expirary dates (look for the newest batch! ). In yogurt their growth is also stunted because of the low 4-7 C temp of your fridge! They are lactic acid bacteria (produce hydrogen peroxide) which is what we want, and they survive best at body temp 37 C!!! Anyways.. I can't remember if I have much else to say, I wish you all good luck in yor vaginal health, and sanity!!! I feel your frustrations, as this drives me crazy sometimes!!! Just talk to your doctor if you have reservations, but use every source available to you! You have to be the advocate of your own health, be educated, and know your body! I hope I helped some one :) peace and love!!! Xox

I tried what I had noticed everyone seemed to be recommending as the best cure for BV which is Folic Acid, Acidophillus probiotic and douching with half water and half 3% hydrogen peroxide. I read the board last night after searching endlessly for a home remedy for this annoying problem.

Everything I read said the only way to cure this was with anti-biotics and I just couldn't see that working since it was taking anti-biotics for a nasty throat infection that brought this on in the first place - 3 months ago! At first I thought it was just a yeast infection, so I used an OTC treatment for that and the itching and redness subsided for a few days but the discharge and smell were still persistent. Some days it was hardly noticeable but other times it was embarassing! My boyfriend (monogamous relationship) works away for months at a time and this happened right after he had left. He came home at Christmas and noticed something was off and the smell was SO much worse during intercourse. I just kept thinking it would go away on its own and also thought how could something cure it when its also something that caused it?! I understand different anti-biotics work for different things, but I wasn't about to take any chances with suffering for any longer. So when I came across this website with SOOO many positive testimonials for this cure, I immediately ran to the pharmacy! I took 2 Folic Acid tablets (1mg each=1000mcg)and 2 Acidophilus probiotic tablets (500 million organisms per tablet) as soon as I got in the car and came home and douched with the water and peroxide. Things seemed better right away! I let myself air dry and slept without underwear because I heard its good to let the air circulate, and woke up this morning DRY with no signs that there was ever a BV infection whatsoever! I'm soooo amazed and soooo grateful for this site!

I am going to continue the acidophilus till I run out and hopefully all should be well and balanced and I am also going to continue the Folic Acid tablets since I am hoping to be pregnant in the near future! I'll keep you all posted on my situation but thanks to everyone for sharing! And good luck to everyone else who is dealing with this nasty little feminine problem! Take care!

I tried the 1/2 and 1/2 method on a tampon and left it in for 20 minutes. I did this for 2 days. On the third day, I had intercourse without a bad smell. However, following intercourse I began burning in my vagina and considered yeast. There was no discharge so it was puzzling. The next day I woke up with burn-like areas to my vaginal canal (I do not have herpes I assure you). Anyone experience this with the tampon method? I realized I used scented and fear it caused a reaction :/

So far so good! On day 2 of using a 50/50 HP/distilled water solution in a douch (laying in bath with hips up). Feeling much better and no smell! How many days in a row should I do this? I really want to have babies in the future - are there any concerns with this method and becoming pregnant?

Hi. I'm trying the hydrogen peroxide 3% for BV and wondering after I douche if I then rinse with vinegar & water after the 3 minutes, or leave it as it is. Some websites say 3% is not enough and you need 6% strength. You are saying to dilute even the 3% down to half and half! I'm a bit confused. And also -like I mentioned -do I douche and leave alone-- or rinse out after 3 minutes with vinegar and water?? Just not sure at the end what I do...leave it or rinse

So about a month ago I thought it would be a good idea to use liquid fabric softener in my wash—-BAD IDEA. Within two days, I had a burning itch on the top area of my labia. Went to the doc, and she immediately recognized that my problem was caused by an irritant and took a sample. Because of my bright idea, I got bv. Had one round of antibiotics. Thought things were cleared up, but NO!! Just started another round of antibiotics, but my doc also recommended hydrogen peroxide. Since my problem is on the outside, has anyone just washed the area w hp or used a spray and, if so, how many days and how often. 😏

Hi Tonya, how are you doing now? Have you stayed with that same partner? I have read information that men can also harbor BV biofilm/bacteria. I always seem to be re-infected after sex and wonder if sometimes it comes from my husband (initially from me). We have started using condoms but it is too soon to tell.

You are correct. Some people do carry a gene called MTHFR that makes it so they cannot process folic acid. It is actually like a poison for people who have the gene. You can get tested at your dr for this gene and is a good idea. There are different levels and can heavily effect someone's life if they have it. I have a good friend who has 2 of the MTHFR genes and it has affected her health immensely. Because of her I was tested and I do not have it. It is something that is passed genetically so one or both parents would have to carry the gene. Since my friend has 2 of the genes it affects what she can eat as well as supplements and can heavily effect her moods including depression, anxiety and mood swings. Many drs don't know about this gene.

I read it's recommended by OBGYN only 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide to 2 cups distilled water. I did this and followed up with a Greek yogurt soaked tampon with L. Acidophillus probiotic powder on it as well. The tampon was too big and messy for me, you can also find suppositories instead, but I could't find that type probiotic as a suppository. I am now reading so many successful results from the boric acid suppositories.

I think your missing link is you need to reintroduce the good bacteria back into your vagina in the form of acidophilus (pill form at any drugstore). You take this orally and you can also insert vaginally. So three steps to a cure: folic acid, hydrogen peroxide (kills bad bacteria but not the good bacteria), and acidophilus (the good bacteria). good luck!! I just started using this three pronged approach and haven't felt this great in months!!

Did my second treatment of 10ml sterile water, 20ml of hydrogen peroxide douche this morning. I used a little more water though, and once again have been symptom free.

My 1st treatment was last night at full strength. This morning when u woke up I had the itchy feeling but I just got in the shower used my douche and no more itch and it's several hours later. I started taking my probiotics this morning. So far so good.

I have tonight and tomorrow for my last treatments. I'm pregnant so will be only be treating for 3 days twice a day. I slowly squeeze the solution so it's a trickle, not like a jet stream.

So I did an ACV soak in the tub filled half way with water. Today I used a syringe with yogurt that has 6 live cultures. I put a much could hold in and used a tampon to keep in. I won't change until the next few hours. I'm going to take a shower in the morning and repeat the yogurt. I got immediate relief when inserting the yogurt. So glad too. I am taking probiotics as well and eating the yogurt. My diet is plant based but I still eat pastries etc. And drink plenty of water. Will update on my progress 😊

Hey everyone,

I have been suffering with BV and yeast infections for a couple years now. I would like to know how often to use H2O2 douche and what to take after. Everyone has something different like douching for 3 days once a day and inserting acidophilus or I saw somewhere that Vitamin C with Rose Hips inserted helps too. I just want to know that what happens biologically when using H2O2 douche and what the proper steps are in getting a healthy vagina back! It's exhausting to have to think about it everyday and worry that its coming back or not fully gone. Also, what can I buy to test by PH level in there? Please help!

You mentioned drinking alkaline water, but I must make a strong warning: DO NOT use alkaline water to dilute hydrogen peroxide, because that will dramatically alter the pH, and can cause damage.

I know this because I accidentally made an enema this way and found out the Really Hard way, that it's extremely painful and potentially life threatening.

You're now the first person I've warned online, and I plan to do more, since I have not seen one single cautionary comment on this subject on any website about H202, which is rather troubling, considering my harrowing experience.

Hydrogen Peroxide

I hear a lot about the peroxide douche method but not the method I have been using. I have never been diagnosed with BV but have dealt with pain for 5 years. I had what the doctors called protein in my urine every time I went in to see my primary or to the hospital. I was in the hospital a lot for extreme burning on urination, back pain, peeling skin on the outside vagina lips, thick whitish yellow discharge, extreme swelling of lips of vagina and the bottom parts just above anus and below opening of vagina on right and left sides. I at first thought that I was just getting recurrent UTIs but as the symptoms got worse I suspected something else was wrong such as an std. But every time I would go in to the hospital they would perscribe me heavy amounts of antibiotics and put me on strong pain meds most of the time morphine. These meds helped at first but it then would get worse when I got it again and the antibiotics would no longer work. They would even hook me up to iv antibiotics and discharged me from the hospital even though I told them I was still in pain and swollen. I went home with the antibiotics and became extremely sick every time back to the hospital throwing up. I even was kept in the hospital for 2 weeks because I ended up having a seizure in the hospital.

Because none of the doctors told me anything that helped I took matters into my own hands trying everything. I looked into natural remedies and talked with my mom and grandma. I remembered that after having my son the doctors told me to use one half iodine and peroxide (can be found in Walmart or other pharmaceutical places) and the other part water (it can be tap water as the peroxide will kill bacteria in the water) in a bottle with a lid with holes in it that is labeled with numbers when I went to the bathroom.

Therefore, instead of douching it is a cists bath as to avoid the pressure of shooting it inside or it being left too long in the vagina which will cause further problems.

What you do is stay sitting on the toliet after urination or bowel movement in the morning, night, and after sex and just squirt it on the outside of the vagina leaving it on for about 5 minutes. I am telling you it works to keep infection out and the iodine gets rid of the pain and be sure to wipe front to back.

Iodine does stain clothes so make sure you wipe it off very well. During your period do not use pads or tampons from the store they further irritate infections as they are made with man made chemicals such as pesticides. Instead use a period cup made with medical grade silicon or a 100% cotton washable pads. I went with a cup which is easier to clean with peroxide and water at night it can be left in vagina for 12 hours. These changes have significantly changed my life I am no longer in pain and it has even helped me with my periods.

I have been suffering with BV off and on since I was a teenager. But I have not been able to get rid of it for about 5 years now. I tried antibiotics once and it came back as soon as I had sex and I have used a discussing amount of boric acid and it only helps if I use it everyday of my life which can't really be healthy and the vitamin c tablet helped for a couple weeks and then it came back. I am about to start the peroxide method which I actually heard from a naturopathic doctor. I realize the vagina is supposed to be acidic, but when you have an overgrowth of bad bacteria you have to get rid of it some how so you can return back to a normal acidic state

After my menstrual ended I began having a fishy smell which I normally get rid of with suppositories. However, I decided not to use them this go round thinking the smell will naturally go away. In this case it did not, so I became concern. Researching natural things to balance my PH levels I stumble across Earth clinic and the lovely knowledgeable women that are willing to shed some light on a delicate topics of such. Decided to take the advised of soaking a tampon using the 50/50 method for two days and the horrible smell went away. I was delighted thinking ive found a miracle. Unfortunately the fishy smell showed its ugly face again.

Today, literally started pouring 50/50 of the solution down my precious jewels (lol) and held it there for a short period then releasing. The process felt strange but what the heck, im willing to try anything to make it go away. Shortly later, I began having a fishy order with light brown color discharge. Brown discharge? What the heck?! Should I try the douching method since its been 3 days now? Seriously believe its getting worse. Did I misdiagnose and should have used the suppositories like normal. I'm willing to try the hydrogen peroxide but I'm super scared to try it.. I'm honestly getting really desperate. The discharge is really awful but I'd really like to take care of the itching. I bought hydrogen peroxide and distilled water to try the 50/50 solution later on tonight. Will the disinfectant cause a yeast infection or make matters worse due to its natural drying effect? I take probiotics (two types for colon health and vaginal health) daily so will that help anything? Do you have any recommendations or advice to try this or anything that I should do simultaneously with the peroxide wash? Help!

Hi. Did you have unprotected sex during or after the treatment with H2O2? I've been suffering from BV for a year and a half since a started dating my bf. I've used every type of antibiotics and all sort of home remedies but it always comes back as soon as I have unprotected sex.

Hi Lulu, do you mind to tell me how to use the peroxide. my first time I make a mistake I used the peroxide straight from the bottle inside the vagina, I was worried after that, it was just one hope nothing is going to happen. Thanks : )

I actually have had unprotected sex and so far so good! I have had no symptoms of bv whatsoever. I just douche with hydrogen peroxide every once in a while..like once every 2 days. I am still continuing to take probiotics and trying to maintain a healthy diet. Little by little I'm adding sugars to my diet and getting a little more comfortable not having bv. I don't want to jinx myself by thinking I'm fully bv free because it can come back but as of right now I have had no recurrence of bv. No itch, no smell, no dryness..even after sex. So hydrogen peroxide really works! I think you should give it a try since you said you've tried everything.

The water cannot be straight from the tap.. I boil it first but u can buy it distilled.. Empty a douche bottle and fill it half to three fourths of the way full with hydrogen peroxide then the rest with water. Use it like a normal douche.. It may bubble and it may sting or cramp a little but never much and never for long. I've been controlling a bv battle for years with only peroxide and its been a life saver. U can use it undiluted like u did but its gonna bubble a lot that way and possibly cramp more.. It won't harm u tho. Peroxide is safe tho no matter how u use it really... It also will kill athletes foot fyi..

Be careful of how much and where you get that yogurt! I tried that and it went into my urethra, unknowingly to me, and I got a UTI from it! Grr...it didn't help with the BV anyway. I am going to try the peroxide treatment. Gotta go to the store, though. Oh, I hope it works. I tried the tampon soaked in water and peroxide once, and it didn't work. I see now, it's going to take several treatments to eradicate this horror show.

Please don't put real yogurt into your vagina!! This can only cause more issues due to the sugars in the yogurt. You may EAT the yogurt, or choose to just take a probiotic supplement by mouth if you don't like the taste of yogurt.

Does anyone have extreme soreness and burning in the vagina with BV? I've had on-going issues with Yeast infections and probably BV, but it was just recently diagnosed correct and I was giving Oral Flagyl, which a nightmare for me. The BV calmed down just a little but I continue to have soreness and burning. Not crazy about using Hydrogen Peroxide/Water mix when a vagina is very sore. Will this help? I'm very confused as to which direction to go at this point. Thank you very much.

YES. The soreness and inflammation was worse than the itching and discharge in my experience. My vulva swelled to double its size!! Three weeks after my first round of antibiotics mild BV symptoms are back. Yay -.- so I'm taking an alternative route to hopefully nip this in the bud!!

I have a question, well two questions... I started the 1/2 peroxide 1/2 water treatment with a cleaned out douche for the first time two days ago and the first two days it was perfect! Just like most are saying about it, the odor and discharge were gone almost immediately! But today when I did it there were little, white -for lack of a better word-chunks that came out with the mixture. Did this happen to anyone else? Or is it possible that I could have BV and a yeast infection at the same time?

Hydrogen Peroxide

It's probably just BV unless you're having some major itching or burning. I've been doing the hydrogen peroxide douche for months now and it's the only thing that keeps it away. If I stop for two days, it's back. GYN confirmed BV and gave me flagyl which didn't help.

You can eat all of the yogurt you want but that will not reach your vag. When you eat yogurt it goes through your gastrointestional tract which is not connected to the vaginal vault. If you want to place good bacteria in the vagina you have to physically put it there. I would not recommend using yogurt but rather a vaginal probiotic suppository. It gets the good bacteria where it is supposed to be.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Did this once not realizing the short length of time the tampon was to be left in. Was suffering with this problem and avoiding filling the prescription given by my doctor. I did it through the night! But, the results were amazing, so I didn't think anything of it until I had to do it a second time a couple of months later. I didn't have severe symptoms. Just thought I should do it after having had a week of a holiday away with my boyfriend and lots of sex. Anyway, I kept the tampon in for about three or four hours this last time. I started getting a LOT of watery discharge. No odour. Just the discharge, to the point of having to wear pads. I think because I overdid the timing, my body was trying to get me back into balance and this was the way it went about it. Started reading more and realized my mistake about the length of time the tampon should be left in. Started taking probiotics and lots of green drinks. It's better now. Just wondering if anyone else had this occur.

Thankyou so much! Oh my gosh. I felt soo alone with this affliction. After reading every testimony on this site.. I too ran to the bathroom cupboard for the hydrogen peroxide.. 50/50 with boiled cooled water soaked into a tampon. Left it in for 40 minutes and miracles!!!! No offensive smell! And 5 hours later still all good. I'm hoping it will be the same in the morning and I feel very optimistic. I'm tired of visiting the doctor and taking the drugs. Tonight... Is just the most amazing night. I'm so grateful for this site and all you ladies for putting your stories up. I'm not sure how my bv came about. I have had this burning itch for years. Thought it was really bad thrush that wasnt responding to my normal canesten cream. Four months ago I developed the nasty smell that drove me to the doctor for metronidazole which fixed the problem... For a month and then smelly came back...

Two more times and in frustration I turned to the net which led me here!!! Sooo grateful to you all. I would never have believed hydrogen peroxide could be put into you... But with so many of you having success from it.. I was eager. I was a little scared.. Thought it would burn for some reason but this was not the case. I feel so clean and fresh now. Will update again in a week.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Before reading about the 50/50 mix I used a tampon soaked in hydrogen peroxide on Friday night. My peroxide is at least a year old so I am not going to worry about it being a full strength dose at this point because it has lost a lot of its pizzazz. I will say that the odor and yucky discharge was gone in a flash. But, since then I have been left with a watery, non-smelly discharge. Yesterday I went through two pairs of undies, one because I had been to the gym and just thought it was normal sweating and the other after just 4 or 5 hours of doing nothing. I woke up this morning and my pajama pants were wet, but again, it wasn't smelly. Today I wore a panty liner and it too was wet with this watery like substance. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had chronic BV now for almost 10 years and nothing I do cures it. I have to say I don't think I ever remember a day were I haven't had it now. It's always there ruining my life. I can't enjoy myself with my husband, it ruins outings, and I can't eat sugar which honestly is very hard especially when your partner is a sugar addict. I'm only 23 ... I cry often nowadays out of frustration and hopelessness.

When my husband mentioned the hydrogen peroxide douche I was highly skeptical seeing as it involves water and douching, two things that can make BV worse. However, the reviews on it were good and there was much praise for it so I jumped on board because I was/am desperate to rid myself of this abomination.

I douched with it for 8 days, the first 2 days I felt like it was getting worse but I was assured that probably was the douche killing it off, so I continued. While doing that I took vitamin C pills and probiotics even well past those 8 days up until I ran out of probiotics. The douche made it WORSE! I used to get small breaks were I'd have days with no burning or itching, but I'd have horrible discharge and smell. NOW I have horrible discharge, smell, itching vigorously, and burning! It wasn't this bad since before I had my little one at age 20.

Now I am afraid to even try anything else for fear it will get worse then what it is now. I've had it worse than this and I want nothing to do with feeling like that again.

I'm tempted to write down everything I have tried, go up to my GYN, push it in his face, and tell him up front that nothing is working still and my life is suffering so either he find a way to fix me or tell me where to go where somebody can fix me. >:C

Angry Woman, not trying to be flippant BUT have you gone to the doctor and been checked out for trichomoniasis? It sounds just like this little bugger!

They could be using the wrong meds to kill the wrong thing because this parasite requires a certain medication and you can reinfect yourself without realizing it.

I will say over and over because its a tricky little bugger!

This sounds like trichomoniasis!

*So much discharge if not wearing a panty liner it feels like you have pee'd yourself.

*Nasty, fishy odor that makes you want to tear

*Itchiness that develops due to the irritation and discharge.

Special Douching, yeast creams, vitamins, or bathing will not get rid of this.

You must go to gyno QUICK!!!

I had the same problem. BORIC ACID is the way to go. My Naturopathic Dr said so and my NP backed it and another Naturopath since. It works. It will destroy the odor in a very short time. If I shower and then use a suppository, the odor is gone completely within gosh, like an hour or 2 (certainly you'll see incredible results within a few and overnight it's a breeze.

Safe too. I used to get suppositories but they honestly worked great for a year or 2, but then I buy my own Boric acid from Amazon (much cheaper in bulk that way) and capsule it myself or just stick the suppository thingy (the plastic thing they give you at the pharmacy for inserting into the vagina), so I just put some in and then push in the powder if I don't feel like waiting for the capsule to dissolve, fast and easy.

I started having signs of BV 2 weeks after having intercourse with condoms. I had a somewhat fishy odor and white liquid secretions vaginally. I used 50/50 of the hydrogen peroxide and H2O in a empty douche container, instantly I started noticing a huge difference right away. I am going to use this method once a day for 3 days.

Try a tampon with essential thyme oil or better yet tea tree. You're going to need to use vagisil. First make sure you clean yer bootyhole with a rag and don't use it again without washing it. Another thing is you might have poo germs from penis acidentally going near it, then in you. Also use your hands to clean inside your v around the walls of it to remove old skin and discharge. I cover my fingers in tea tree ($8 walmart) prior to this step. Just try naturural things and being positive instead of telling everyone off about it when it's your vageen not theirs

Try to soak a tampon in hydrogen peroxide and stick it in internally for about an hour (seeing as your symptoms seem pretty severe). I have had BV for over a year and have tried everything. Douching can make things worse, so I tried the tampon method. It was immediate results. I've never been so happy! I can actually wear what I want without worrying about what I smell like. So try the tampon method! It's worth a shot (:

I see that a lot of women are stating that the fishy like odor is coming from the vagina... My vagina doesn't have a bad odor, just the yellow cheese like, sometimes brown discharge. My vuvla has the fishy smell. I get vagina pains, like needles are in there and abdominal pains, itchiness and burning... But the smell is disgusting!! I know within my heart its BV though. I had Pelvic Inflammatory Disease a year ago and took antibiotics and cleared it up. The BV symptoms never went away, I just covered it up with soap and baby powder... Recently my boyfriend left me because I informed him about my symptoms... We were never intimate though but he couldn't "be with a girl with an on going problem" anyways , its been taking over my life. It's an everyday struggle. I've been fighting this for years, even when I was a little girl. I'm 18 now... It feels good to know I'm not alone. Will the h2o2 help the fishy smell go away on my vulva if I douche???? Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Jaz (Texas, US) on 10/22/2014

You may possibly have a yeast infection maybe? Because a yeast infection is somewhat like that, has some BV symptoms in there but the "yellow cheese" in your description, is described as yeast infection because that has the symptom of "Cottage cheese" discharge. Hope you figure it out. I have BV as well and I'm trying to find some home remedies other than taking my prescription for 7 days.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Try to find a physician who deals with gyn issues and urology. The "yellow cheese" could be yeast but the fishy odor could be something more serious.

Definitely agree with the other posters in this thread... be on the safe side and see a specialist who will take a culture to give you a definitive diagnosis of what it is. I had a friend who smelled so bad, she left behind an odor after riding in my car for only ten minutes. I urged her to see a gyno. Once she finally did she was diagnosed with an STD (I forget now what it was...) and it was easily treated. If left untreated these things can cause serious harm. If it turns out to be BV, I've read that Borax capsules (make them yourself) inserted into the vagina for a week or 2 is helpful. I would also take high dose probiotics.
