Pine Nuts, Blackberries

I wanted to let you know that my psoriasis, which I have had for about 15 years or so, has gotten better since I started doing two things. First of all, it's only about 3' by 4", which is kinda small compared to many other people. It hasn't gotten worse in that time, just moved down from my knee to my lower leg. It itched and scaled a lot. The itching went mostly away when I started eating blackberries every day. Then I bought pine nuts, and wow! The scaling went completely away too! In addition it seems some of my food sensitivities went down or away with the pine nuts. I know psoriasis is considered an auto-immune disease, and I think the pine nuts may be useful to interrupt that process for some. It definitely hasn't fixed my psoriasis, just made it less 'angry', and less thick a bit too. I think it may be the sterolins in the pine nuts and the mannose in the blackberries, as that is why I tried them. But I am not really that sure.

I used about 2$ Canadian in pine nuts a day and about 2 cups of blackberries per day also. I also avoided pasteurized milk products and wheat, but I have been doing that for a while.

Turmeric

Hello to the earth clinic community, I am a 48 year young woman who has been suffering for psoriasis for about 9 years, I had try many and when I say many I'm talking about almost every treatment I could put my hands on it with no results.

About a week ago my sister gifted me a pound of organic Turmeric, after reading a lot about their benefits, it was meant for making the golden milk, which seems to be good for lots of ailments, but as busy as I am I never took the time to make the milk, so I start drinking it as tea. Two cups of boiling water for 1/2 spoon of Tumeric every day twice a day.( it last for the two servings)

Its been a week since I started and I can tell everybody here with the happiest smile in my face that my skin is 80% clear, the flares had stop and the ones I had kind of froze and are residing.

All I can say now is that it seems to be working for me, I haven't seen my skin, as white and clear for so long, and now I can't wait to see how is going to look in the next couple of weeks, ( I might be able to wear a bathing suit again...:)

Any way, I had the recipe out of YouTube, and from my heart I hope this help a lot of you who are in the same situation.

Full of love and hope!!

A friend of mine ask me about how to cure psoriases in her toe nails. Her doctor said it was not of fungal origin. I did some research and find that Iodine 3% cam be used in the area. She did it and in a months + or - it was gone. I believe psoriases is not fungal in origin but related to toxins in the body.

Dietary Changes

Gluten, Dairy, Enzymes, Probiotics, and HCl. All have a major role to play in the battle for your health. Most of us have problems digesting our food because we are supposed to be eating raw foods which have enzymes that naturally starts breaking down food in our stomachs before our stomach acid (HCl) starts in on the food an hour after we eat. We are also supposed to chew each bite about 20 times to mix with our own enzymes in our saliva. The enzymes begin breaking down the food and "turn off" when our stomach acid comes in and works on the food some more. Then the food moves to our intestines where we are supposed to have an alkaline environment to turn these enzymes back on to continue helping break down food into the nutrients we need. Because of our lifestyle today, none off these things happen as they are meant to. So if you are not eating raw foods like a salad (that is organic! ) then you need to be taking an enzyme supplement when you take the first bite; Then take a HCl supplement an hour after you eat. And of course eating foods that promote an alkaline environment in your gut will also help greatly. However, that last part it is not so easy to do consistently. Particularly if you are already on another diet or have an allergen or intolerance.

My brother has psoriasis and is autistic and intolerant to gluten and dairy. We are also trying eliminate nightshade vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant, paprika, etc). So far we have found that eating less nightshade vegetables and using topically or eating more coconut oil is helping us heal some of his psoriasis.

Hello Becky,

I don't know about the Candida problem specifically, but I DO know from personal experience, that I made great progress with my digestive issues once I commenced taking HCL tablets under the instruction of my local Naturopath.

Older people loose some of their stomach acid unfortunately. They tend to lose some important other stuff also but you get the message!

I decided later on that I would change to taking ACV during my main evening meal only and this seemed to work just as well ( and was much less expensive! ).

I drink it through a straw and rinse carefully afterwards and clean teeth a half hour later.

You could mix it with Bicarbonate of Soda if you are worried about your enamel OR take the tablets.

I got rid of the intestinal gas that was bothering me and I think that I am digesting my food better (and getting the nutrients out of it) especially mince, chicken and some carbohydrates! Older people need some protein in their diets.

I got rapid relief by doing the above and only take the recommended dosage as outlined on this Site. In fact, I usually only take a couple of tea-spoons of it at a time in a big glass of water either during a meal OR within thirty minutes of finishing the meal (important).

I don't care to take it on an empty stomach.

I hope this helps you some.

Cheers,

Michael

Castor Oil, Turpentine, Coconut Oil

Psoriasis Cure:

I wanted to share a combination therapy that took care of my recent (and nasty) outbreak of psoriasis on the top of one of my hands as well as the groin area. I have no idea what caused this outbreak this time, I have not had one in years, other than I was loading up on plenty of sweets for a good while just before it happened. This is something I don't normally do.

This lead to the psoriasis on the hands spreading to four of my fingernails and turned them bad.

After much reading on earthclinic, I began to (one by one) try the various suggested remedies - including different alkalizing therapies, ACV twice a day, coconut oil , and even colloidal silver sprays as a topical.

I am convinced by now , that psoriasis (as well as eczema are caused by a fungal /candida overgrowth as sugar nearly always seems to aggravate it, along with it mostly growing in areas that are moist. ( I wore work gloves all summer while gardening, and sweating profusely in them, and why I feel my one hand broke out, strangely the other hand did not at all! ).

Believing psoriasis to be a fungal issue, I had been experimenting with Dr. Jennifer Daniels turpentine therapy (found online and I am an avid listener of hers) prior to this outbreak. I followed it for awhile and then forgot about it. I have recently started the turp therapy again, BUT while in doing so, I decided to mix a little with castor oil and apply it to the groin area that was growing so painful (burning and itching)from the psoriasis patches . I was getting desperate and determined to find relief some way, some how.

I found instant relief and the itching stopped almost at once. a few days ago I begin to add in a little virgin coconut oil to the mix and today I noticed the patches are disappearing very quickly, and the 'oozing' has mostly subsided! I couldn't believe my eyes! the oozing patches were beginning to make me crazy, smelly and just a real gross mess.

The mixture again: approx 1 TBSP castor oil in a dish, add approx 3 drops of pure gum turpentine, and 1/2 tbsp melted coconut oil.. mix it with your fingers and apply to the areas (and the areas surrounding the patches) leave it on overnight and repeat the process each day until its gone.

**Very important to keep the areas clean with a gentle washing a few times a day. Dry the area well (I used a hair dryer on a gentle setting) and wipe down the area with a rag soaked in ACV. I then tried slathering the entire area with the inside of the banana peel (something I read on earthclinic), dried the area again and then applied the castor oil/turp/coconut oil mixture.

As far as my fingernails go, they are somewhat slow to recover of course, as a whole new nail must regrow. I use a combination of various treatments and keep mixing it up to keep the infection from growing resistance to any one treatment.

I use the ionic colloidal spray on my entire hand and nails twice or more a day - whenever I think about it, along with ACV (soaking the nails in it). as well as peroxide, alcohol and even iodine/diluted. I have also introduced the turpentine directly onto the nails and allowing it to soak in and around and underneath the nails.

They are healing up nicely with new growth about half way out the nails.

I most certainly will keep a watch out on my sugar intake from here on out. I really feel like for me, it can trigger a horrific outbreak that can take months to get under control. I feel like maybe our systems are extremely out of balance with all the toxic overload in our bodies and environments.

I forgot to mention too that when I began these therapies, I immediately introduced probiotics back into my diet, something I had slacked off from for a long period. this included home-made milk kefir, home-made yoghurt, home-made fermented saurkraut, to get the stomach flora back in balance. The dairy did not seem to aggravate my psoriasis. I had also switched back to making my own home-made sourdough bread, noodles and other things with wheat, which I also drastically reduced my intake.

The hybridized, G.E , pesticide ridden wheat out there these days, I feel is very lethal for consumption> I am not sure if fermenting it helps, but are hopeful it might offset some of the dangers. if anyone knows, I would love to hear.

I hope this may help some of you, psoriasis is such a dreadful condition to have to deal with, I know.

N-Acetyl Glucosamine (N-A-G) has almost cured my mom's psoriasis after more than 40 years. Where there used to be plaques, she has very light pink marks that are fading. She has tried many natural treatments over the years, and this is by far the most effective.. She also has had digestive issues (possible IBS?) which have improved as well.

She has been taking 1400mg twice daily, for 4 or 5 months.

Iodine

Thank you SO MUCH for the info on iodine and on bromine detox! I have only got tiny spots of psoriasis in the 48th year of my life. Popping open a capsule of vitamin D3, and applying it would provide relief, and heal it. But this latest spot on my eyelid has been a really bad problem that would not go away. AND it came up as soon as I started iodine supplementation, for the first time since moving the farthest north I have lived in my life (Chicago suburbs).

So I read the PDF Guide to Supplementing With Iodine which you provided. And then I went and took 1/2 tsp of sea salt in some water, and then drank as much fresh water as that made me need. Also, I had quit taking iodine for a couple of days, as I noticed it made the psoriasis flare up way worse. Finally, my eyelid is mostly healed up! In ONE DAY! The PDF says that the chloride part of sodium chloride (salt) binds to the bromide that the iodine supplementation set free, and then the bromide (which was causing the psoriasis, as my body was trying to detox it) gets peed out.

I had no idea that bromide is probably causing me so many health problems. The PDF says iodine is needed in all the organs in our bodies, especially the ones with mucous linings. I think this also solved my HORRIBLE acid reflux problem. The acid reflux is suddenly gone, after one tsp of salt, too. Here's my logic on why: Acid reflux is caused by a bad bacterial overgrowth in the stomach, which weakens the sphincter and lets the acid out into the esophagus. Iodine kills bad bacteria, but leaves the beneficial bacteria. But iodine couldn't help my stomach until I took the salt that removed the bromide, or bromine, or whatever form that stuff was in.

Bleach Baths

I hope I'm writting this in the right space. I HAVE to share that for me apple cider sadly does nothing for my psoriasis. For me im over 30 & have had since the age of 8m every year chronic horrible head to toe flare ups of what I think is guttate psoriasis, some years Ive had it ALL year due to a few strep throat cases which kick off a three month psoriasis event. I've done PUVA, enbrel... ETC ETC. I have previously as I stated last year somewhere on this thread ONLY had relief from fasting, which is problematic & hard to do.

I recently managed to HALT a flare up with two things, the cayenne gargle CURED my strep within hours, which I think may have slowed or lessened the flare up...

The second thing is a week of bleach baths (mods please leave this info I know bleach is not considered "natural" but I need to get this info out to other sufferers) google bleach bath, its simple 1/2 or 1/4 cup bleach in bath & soak, (no you wont die, no you wont stink... ) I was scared to try it, but had my stomach covered in psoriasis & legs, my arms were clear... Day one showed little clearing by day 5 my psoriasis is GONE. Please ppl give the bleach bath a try. I'm baffled as to WHY it works, I've been lead to believe thru my own research that my psoriasis was coming from within due to strep, stress, over active malfunctioning t cells attackign... Etc.... Etc. WELL no it appears now my psoriasis was nothing more than......... Stains? lol! Please give the bleach bath a try!!!!!!!

Dr Gulio Simoncini MD, oncologist, says psoriasis is fungal based. He recommends applying iodine 7% several times a day until there is a lessening of the condition.

He believes Cancer is fungal based but in that condition take internally- internally one takes 1 teaspoon of USP baking soda in a glass of spring water. Sip.

Some add a teaspoon of organic blackstrap molasses to the drink as fungi crave sugar so it acts as ‘bait.' Baking soda is a poison to fungal colonies so good results are obtained.

Tanning Beds
Posted by Kathy (Dubois, Pa) on 09/17/2009

I am very skeptical of this "tanning beds are dangerous" thing. More and more evidence is coming out that light is a kind of nutrient, and that Vitamin D-3 the "sunshine vitamin" (actually a hormone) prevents and cures a whole host of diseases, and that humans have a process similar to photosynthesis in plants. Plus, humankind evolved to live in the sun, so it just doesn't make sense to me that sunlight is the CAUSE of skin cancer. It makes more sense to cast an eye at modern cosmetics and food additives, along with nutrient (especially pigment-type nutrients like beta-carotein, etc) deficient diets, REACTING WITH sunlight to cause skin cancer. I know that when I use commercial skin or body washes, the scent lingers for literally hours afterward. That must mean that the scent is penetrating my skin and/or bonding with my skin chemistry in some way. I don't know about any of you guys, but I think that cannot be a good thing. And those scents, flavors and colors are also hormone mimics and are based on the technology of solvents. And that's not to mention all the "preservatives", transfats, pesticides, herbicides, etc. that our so-called "food" is loaded with. Jeez, its a wonder anybody is alive at all. And then they blame the tanning booths or the sun.

Tanning Beds
Posted by William (Northern Illinois, US) on 05/27/2014

I agree with what you wrote 110%!!! I am not a rocket a scientist (far from it) but hello... the Sun has been providing humans with one of the only MAJOR sources of Vitamin D for a VERY loooong time! It often makes me wonder why the HEALTH SCIENCES have a habit of "SKIMMING" the surface time and time again when it comes to the root causes of certain diseases(?) I wonder more and more if some in the health based sciences hold back findings on purpose in order to invent a "cure" for greedy types to make millions/billions! Afterall, with all the combined intelligence that exists in the health sciences in this world how can they single out tanning booths and COMPLETELY turn a BLIND EYE to all the chemicals we slather on our skin... and don't forget... all those chemicals we slather on our skin ALSO come in TOXIC PLASTIC bottles which leach even more toxic chemicals into the crap we slather on our skin!!! Honestly... how can they be missing sooo many additional and obvious smoking guns! ?! ?

I have had psoriasis for at least 15 years and have recently tried acv and water to cleanse my inner body. Cool water does help. I also was going to an acupuncture doctor and it's now almost reversed. They told me heat is the worst thing for psoriasis and acv is great to work on the inside of your body. Toxins need to be removed from your body. Also try going organic and stay away from too much alcohol.

Aloe Vera
Posted by Michael (New Zealand) on 04/29/2022

Hello Gail,

I have been wondering how you have been getting on with the Psoriasis issue?

Here are some oils that you could consider incorporating into your diet in small quantities or utilizing in a salve.

My two favourites at the moment are Hemp Seed Oil and Coconut Oil.

Most people are aware of the many virtues of Coconut Oil and it can also be used as a carrier oil for other products for treating the skin. It is soothing for skin conditions. I find the smell very pleasant. I sometimes use it for "Oil Pulling" (see this Site for more info. on that). Use extra- virgin cold-pressed etc. You probably know the drill.

A bottle of Hemp Seed Oil or Flax Oil is usually on the dinner table and we take a drizzle of it with our meal whenever we remember, having faith that it will deliver Linolenic acid and the Omegas 3 and 6, as well as some fatty acids, reputedly able to support suppleness of hair and skin.

Whilst not aspiring to win any beauty contest, the skin tends to dry out a bit as we age and our climate can be harsh on the skin, especially as we tend to spend a lot of time outdoors. It has been claimed that HSO is an effective salve for treating conditions such as Psoriasis, Eczema, and Acne.

Avocado Oil Can be used as a moisturizer and can repair / heal skin. It has five Vitamins, as well as Omega 3 potassium and folate.

Almond Oil protects and nourishes skin, has fatty acids, Vitamins E and K, as well as antioxidants.

Zinc is required for more tasks in the body than any other substance (and I thought it was Magnesium! ) and yet is quite deficient in NZ soils. That's the bad news but the good news is that women need less Zinc than men! Someone I know resolved a long-standing, red nose issue in reasonably short order with a tiny application of topical Zinc (and Castor Oil) ointment to the affected area on a regular basis. There is a test for this - talk to the pharmacist near you.

Another, often overlooked trace mineral, is Selenium, which is also lacking in NZ soils (most Americans get enough from their diet apparently). This one is also necessary for Psoriasis control and skin elasticity. Applying Selenium products to the skin can fix psoriasis and dandruff of the scalp. Low Selenium can be a factor in some cancers and in Arthritis suffering.

The skin, being our largest organ, really ought to have more attention paid to it. It is a bit like your car: we don't attend to its maintenance very well until something goes wrong!!

Gail- let us know how you are progressing please - it may assist others too!

Cheers from somewhere Down Under.

Urine Therapy + ACV

I've had Psoriasis for over two years compounded by other health stuff. Itching really bad and noticed like others that eating sugar made it worse at night. So started cutting the sugar- and then began dipping my foot in urine (an old skin repair/ healing remedy) and then ACV topically or coconut oil, my foot has gone back to normal not a belt of thick angry skin...I'm realising I need to clear candida and do probiotics to sort my other health problems out but it's great to have results on one level. I really appreciate this website and the community.

Multiple Remedies

Yes, homeopathy has many good Remedies like lycopodium and others used successfully on psoriasis. Two others are minerals cuprum or copper met. 6 th potency to 30 th. and zinc. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33505136/

l read this med study and remember reading about these good remedies for psoriasis in the homeopathic materia medica published in 1927 by two MDs.
Those who dealt with the 12 Chief minerals in the body recommend for psoriasis Kali sulph 3X or 6 X the 3 X or 6X potency. Some added in rotation Kali mur 6X (which they also present for shingles).

l have my clients start with low potency say, 3X or 6X then after two or three weeks move to 12X. If the skin is improving stop if it continues. If there is improvement slows or even reverses then take three days a week MWF prior to sleep.Take under tongue.
In homeopathy lf it gets worse stop. When it subsides take MWF and observe.
I would take cuprum or copper 6X first.
Those whom refuse homeopathy can try colloidal copper. Search Amazon for a good copper. Don't know if l can give a brand here so just read up. Fill a small bottle with a mist pump and used on skin and scalp as well as orally. Follow directions on product label. Three pumps is a dose.
Wonderful for skin makes it appear younger! The appearance of Wrinkles are reduced too.
As to Lycopodium 6X MWF at bedtime every other week.

Lycopodium good for hair and skin. Vary dosages. Don't take too frequently. I just gave a guideline. You can take every three weeks or 4 then stop for a few days. Suggestions. Homeopathics are by nature time releasers then continue to work after you cease for awhile.

A good bath for skin is Epsom salts, magnesium flakes, baking soda and Dead Sea salts, apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup. Follow labels.

ALWAYS shower with a good filter. You can fill your tub with filtered water! The chemicals cause many negative conditions.Use a good anti psoriasis shampoo and conditioner.

Coconut Oil, Hot Water
Posted by Julie (Az) on 10/01/2018
★★★★☆

My psoriasis came on 3 years ago - with a vengeance! I did not know what it was, and doctors were clueless (and predictably incurious). It burned, stung, and oozed. The itching nearly drove me insane (or perhaps it succeeded - not sure - haha). The ONLY thing that calmed the burning was coconut oil (extra virgin organic) but was not 100% effective. It sure helped, though.

For the itching, I discovered by accident that running the area under VERY hot water - almost scalding - was incredibly effective and the relief lasted for several hours (AH! Sweet sleep! ) but I had logistics problems because I could only access the bathtub faucet which prevented a lot of areas from getting this relief. You'll need to be right at the controls, as your skin will tell you "hotter" or "cooler" as needed, and it will vary by the moment. Pat dry w/ paper towel & don't apply anything to the skin.

There are a few theories why the hot water works, one of which is that it forces the release of histamines out through the skin. But as far as I know, no one really knows why. It just does.

Oil Pulling
Posted by Suezcq (Phoenix, Az) on 10/15/2016
★★★★★

I have had psoriasis for over 5 years now. I did a lot of reading, including this site, so I started out removing nightshades, and eating low fat. Sort of helped. I tried taking ACV everyday, but it somehow doesn't do well with my stomach. (Leaky gut problems) I also realized I have problems with Candida, and I have changed my diet to help fight that as well as take supplements. I increased my intake of Vit. D, along with eating more alkaline. I also started adding Tumeric with pepperine. All of these things helped, but never completely took it away until I started oil pulling. Huge difference!

While fighting with the psoriasis, it moved around from my shins to my arms and more recently it's just been on my right hand. I couldn't get rid of the one patch, until I started oil pulling. I knew cleansing was a part of the problem, but this has been really great! I have been using organic coconut oil. I don't like the sesame as much because of the taste, but I might switch it around for change.

How I do the oil pulling is use about 1 T first thing in the morning before I drink or eat anything, and swish it around in my mouth while I get up and get started for the day. One thing I found is important is not to swallow while swishing. I find I want to clear my throat, but I let the crud mix in with the oil. Then I spit it out in the toilet, and rinse my mouth out and spit it out as well. I OP for about 15 - 20 mins.

It's also because she stopped eating sugar, guys. That's a key component she did, which you're probably not doing. As it is a fungus you're dealing with.

Here in South Africa, we have a plant called Bulbinella. I was advised to apply the gel from the crushed leaves on my patches of psoriasis by someone who was CURED doing this twice a day for 6 months. After only 1 week, I am amazed. My skin is smooth and the itch is almost entirely gone. I have continued using coconut oil as well to moisturize. Bulbinella grows and transplants easily here and is common in most gardens but that's not much help if you are not in SA. However search online for this. Here is some more info from Wiki: The genus Bulbinella includes 18 species occurring in the Northern, Western and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa and an additional six species from the main islands of New Zealand. All the species have attractive orange, yellow, cream or white flowers in dense, unbranched racemes.

Coconut Oil and Turmeric

I get inverse psoriasis under my breasts and the ONLY thing that will get rid of it/stop the burning is a mixture of extra virgin coconut oil and turmeric. I just make a paste and apply topically. IT IS MESSY! Be sure to cover exposed areas. This topical ointment will usually get rid of the raw areas within a few days...every time.

Oh, and for itching, if you have the plant called autumn joy (sedum) in your yard--go out and break a couple of leaves off and rub them into the lesions. This works for mosquito bites too.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for this post. I have psoriasis at 71-years old on both elbows. In the last two months, My elbows are suddenly on fire with a horrific itch and now the skin is thickening in those places. It comes on at certain times of the day. I have no clue other than maybe this is a detox from the thyroid meds I took for 15 years that I have recently weaned myself from. (Hashimotos) Thanks for writing in. I'm going to try the borax and aloe for relief.

Baking Soda
Posted by Amazedshunt (Denver, Co) on 09/20/2013

It appears to me that a lot of the responses on this site and what people try all have to do with pH levels in some way. The comment under Baking Soda made things click for me. I went and looked up an alkaline food chart and it seems everything people try is with foods of ingredients from this chart. The question I have is whether or not anyone has figured out if there is a certain pH level of your body, or something of that nature that sparks psoriasis or not? Is there a range to be in and is there a way to test your own pH level? Maybe it is a different level for everyone based off of all of the comments and reponses. Thanks, Andrew

Just a one year update.

Baking Soda in water is magical. Hardly a half a teaspoon to each 20oz glass is all it takes. Wow does it clean your system but its worth the 2-3 weeks of discomfort.

Dead Sea Salt baths are also amazing. It seems as though it draws the chemicals and impurities straight out of your body that cause psoriasis.

Diet is everything. No Processed foods period. No Processed sugar. Red meat is really good but its not ideal.

I smoke cigarettes and drink beer(Stout is the way to go) frequently and there is no way that these two things are the cause.

I have noticed that there is a time delay on diet. When you eat something that is wrong, it takes time to filter to your skin surface. It depends on the magnitude of how awful it is for your system.

In the end, enjoy what you like in life but if you want healthy skin I have found that you counteract my pleasures with Baking Soda in water for every glass, Dead sea salts for quick elimination of psoriasis and eating well is the best remedy.

Too really crush an outbreak I found that I must change my lifestyle. 85% vegetables and fruits and 15% NON-red meat. Nuts and other things are all good.

Draw the chemicals and impurities out with Dead Sea Salt Baths and intake of Baking Soda in every glass of water as the best way.

I don't buy the stress thing. I do buy the alcohol thing however Stouts seem to be the most awesome with no worries.

Hope this all helps many of you. It's not you. It's what you input that creates the output.
