Urine

If someone has posted this, I have missed it. It is the cheapest topical cure you will find. I first heard about urine therapy years ago and you will find that if you GOOGLE it (that is, after you stop laughing at this post...), you will find that it is legitimate in eliminating psoriasis on your skin, scalp, etc.. The very first story I read was a man that had genital psoriasis. He thought for sure this was a JOKE. But in the privacy of his morning constitutional, he caught some of his morning urine and simply applied it topically. Within the week, it was about 90% eliminated. It works fast and effectively. This is not to infer that you don't need to clean up your gut, because you do....but whilst you do that, you skin can be clear.
Bulbinella

Here in South Africa, we have a plant called Bulbinella. I was advised to apply the gel from the crushed leaves on my patches of psoriasis by someone who was CURED doing this twice a day for 6 months. After only 1 week, I am amazed. My skin is smooth and the itch is almost entirely gone. I have continued using coconut oil as well to moisturize. Bulbinella grows and transplants easily here and is common in most gardens but that's not much help if you are not in SA. However search online for this. Here is some more info from Wiki: The genus Bulbinella includes 18 species occurring in the Northern, Western and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa and an additional six species from the main islands of New Zealand. All the species have attractive orange, yellow, cream or white flowers in dense, unbranched racemes.
Coconut Oil and Turmeric

I get inverse psoriasis under my breasts and the ONLY thing that will get rid of it/stop the burning is a mixture of extra virgin coconut oil and turmeric. I just make a paste and apply topically. IT IS MESSY! Be sure to cover exposed areas. This topical ointment will usually get rid of the raw areas within a few days...every time.
Oh, and for itching, if you have the plant called autumn joy (sedum) in your yard--go out and break a couple of leaves off and rub them into the lesions. This works for mosquito bites too.
I hope this helps!
Essential Oils

My father is an 83 year old retired carpenter who has suffered from persistent eczema and psoriasis on his legs all his life.
Over the years he's just about tried everything to relieve it, all without much success. He was resigned to the fact that he would have to suffer with and be self-conscious about this distressing skin condition for the rest of his life. That was until one Christmas when I had made him the "joke gift' of an 'anti-aging skin cream' I had made that contained a mixture of essential oils renowned for their skin-rejuvenating properties. I bought the high quality base cream from a wholesale supplier and, using my knowledge of aromatherapy and essential oils, added plant extracts that have a long-held reputation of smoothing out wrinkles and improving the health and appearance of the skin.
On Christmas day, when my old dad unwrapped the 'anti-wrinkle cream' we all had a good laugh and I had a vague idea he might use it as a shaving cream or for his hands after he had been working in his garden. Unknown to me at the time, instead of massaging it into his wrinkles, he started applying the thick, rich cream onto a patch of psoriasis on his lower leg that had been there for decades and resisted all other treatments. Now you have to understand that my dad is of the 'old school'. A block of soap and some aftershave is all he every used by way of toiletries. He's also the most skeptical man on the earth when it comes to dubious claims made by face cream manufacturers and that suspicion has rubbed off on me.
Probably out of sheer desperation, he rubbed the cream into the affected area day and night for a few weeks (one pot goes quite a long way! ) until one day, completely out of the blue, he happened to mention in conversation that his skin was looking and feeling a lot better. Now I've seen my fathers psoriasis occasionally and, to be honest, it wasn't a pretty site. The skin was red, inflamed, dry and flaky but, with an incredulous smile on his face, he lifted up his trouser leg and the area where his psoriasis had formerly been looked completely normal and healthy.
As I said before, my father has always been very suspicious of so-called 'alternative' treatments such as aromatherapy, so I was fairly certain there was no 'placebo effect' (the belief that something will work makes it work regardless of it's actual effectiveness) at work here but I can't say I was surprised that it works.
I have been convinced of aromatherapy's therapeutic properties for many years, have studied the subject extensively and have successfully used home-made creams containing essential oils to treat my family's skin problems. My research led me to create a natural solution to eczema and psoriasis.
You are going to need either a natural cream (no mineral oil, SLS, artificial perfumes or petrochemials) or use a pure vegetable oil. I recommend either coconut oil, avocado oil, black seed oil or rosehip seed oil as all of these are well known as natural treatments for eczema and psoriasis.
If you use about 100ml of vegetable oil or cream, aim to add four drops of frankincense, lavender, camomile, sandalwood, neroli, carrot seed and geranium.
Test the cream on the inside of your elbow or knee and leave for 24 hours. If there is no adverse reaction, apply the cream or oil morning and evening and you should see an improvement.
If it worked for my father and many others who have tried this formulation, it should work for you!

Alkaline Diet

Thank you for this post. I have psoriasis at 71-years old on both elbows. Im an otherwise fit and vigorous, healthy sugarless-no gluton, person, lol, who is at my ideal weight and taking lots of supplements and in good health. In the last two months, My elbows are suddenly on fire with a horrific itch and now the skin is thickening in those places. It comes on at certain times of the day. I have no clue other than maybe this is a detox from the thyroid meds I took for 15 years that I have recently weaned myself from. (Hashimotos) Thanks for writing in. I'm going to try the borax and aloe for relief.
Baking Soda
Posted by Amazedshunt (Denver, Co) on 09/20/2013
It appears to me that a lot of the responses on this site and what people try all have to do with pH levels in some way. The comment under Baking Soda made things click for me. I went and looked up an alkaline food chart and it seems everything people try is with foods of ingredients from this chart. The question I have is whether or not anyone has figured out if there is a certain pH level of your body, or something of that nature that sparks psoriasis or not? Is there a range to be in and is there a way to test your own pH level? Maybe it is a different level for everyone based off of all of the comments and reponses. Thanks, Andrew

Just a one year update.
Baking Soda in water is magical. Hardly a half a teaspoon to each 20oz glass is all it takes. Wow does it clean your system but its worth the 2-3 weeks of discomfort.
Dead Sea Salt baths are also amazing. It seems as though it draws the chemicals and impurities straight out of your body that cause psoriasis.
Diet is everything. No Processed foods period. No Processed sugar. Red meat is really good but its not ideal.
I smoke cigarettes and drink beer(Stout is the way to go) frequently and there is no way that these two things are the cause.
I have noticed that there is a time delay on diet. When you eat something that is wrong, it takes time to filter to your skin surface. It depends on the magnitude of how awful it is for your system.
In the end, enjoy what you like in life but if you want healthy skin I have found that you counteract my pleasures with Baking Soda in water for every glass, Dead sea salts for quick elimination of psoriasis and eating well is the best remedy.
Too really crush an outbreak I found that I must change my lifestyle. 85% vegetables and fruits and 15% NON-red meat. Nuts and other things are all good.
Draw the chemicals and impurities out with Dead Sea Salt Baths and intake of Baking Soda in every glass of water as the best way.
I don't buy the stress thing. I do buy the alcohol thing however Stouts seem to be the most awesome with no worries.
Hope this all helps many of you. It's not you. It's what you input that creates the output.

I received an email regarding the benefits of Virgin Coconut Oil, so I immediately bought some. At first I was skeptical of using it, but after reading websites about the benefits, I decided to try it on my psoriasis. I have been plagued with this on the bottom of my feet for more than 10 yrs.
I slathered it all over my feet before bedtime and put ankle socks on and go to bed. After 2 wks, the psoriasis has completely gone away. Amazing stuff!
Iodine
Posted by Midwestmad (Rochester, Minnesota, Usa) on 04/29/2013
I hope you're following the procedures for iodine supplementation. As iodine replaces bromine in your system, it leaves the bromine to float free in your bloodstream and it does some very bad stuff to you if you let it build up. For me, I was craving so much salt it was ridiculous and I was feeling more and more run down. I went to my functional medicine doctor and told him I thought it was possibly bromine detox. It turns out it was interfering with my body's utilization of magnesium. That is a pretty serious consequence. You can't foot with bromine detox. However, it is pretty simple to deal with. You must ingest chloride (in the form of unprocessed sea salt or, if your sodium sensative, I saw that ConcenTrace Trace Mineral drops contains a decent amount of chloride. ) If you don't already have it, search for a document called "The Guide to Supplementing with Iodine." It has some great tips for dealing with all the concequences of iodine supplementation. I found it here: http://home.comcast.net/~jocy1/junk/The Guide to Supplementing with Iodine.pdf
FYI: The ultimate cause of psoriasis (and many degenerative diseases) is leaky gut (resulting from poor diet and excessive toxicity. ) A functional medicine doctor will help heal your sister from the inside starting with, I presume, cleaning up the gut (getting rid of infection) and working to kill off the systemic candida (fungus) in her bloodstream, etc. (I've been working on cleaning up my system for the past year and the number of changes are immense! ) I wish you both luck!!!
Castille Soap

Re: Post by Brendan from Adelaide, South Australia- Neither ACV nor baking soda worked for me, but when my scalp psoriasis was noticeably better after a week at the beach, I began using pure castile soap to clean my scalp and then rinsed it with a small amount of sea salt dissolved in warm water. Saline solution does sting a bit at first, but I decided to rinse it from my scalp only. My existing sores healed quickly - and without the excessive itching that had kept me constantly digging at my scalp. (I preferred sores to the constant itch! ) I've experienced 95% improvement after three months of this regimen and will likely fare much better when I finally conquer the learned scratching habit. I pray that this information will help others who found no relief from the many other remedies suggested, because psoriasis has such a negative effect on the quality of one's life. Best wishes!

Bleach Baths
Posted by Effie (Australia, Blue Mountains) on 05/16/2016
Thank the good lord for some common sense! Study the toxic effects of bleach, you will be astounded. I don't even use it to clean with. Even the smell of it will make my eyes run for hours and give me thumping headaches and nausea. You have to be certifiable to use bleach, even diluted, on your body. Please, almost anything else. ACV is an excellent bacterial suppressant and is perfectly safe, though you may have to patiently persevere. It can be rather slow in some severe cases. If you are taking it as a drink please use a straw as it will erode the teeth. Rinse with lukewarm water after consuming. Good luck all!

Emu Oil
Posted by Liddlekidle (Virginia Beach, Va, Usa) on 05/02/2012
[Eczema is listed on your emu oil page, but not psoraisis.]
I am a 54 year old female whose body erupted with a case of psoraisis upon moving from a Southern climate to a less Southern climate. (There is a history of psoriasis in the males in my family, but I had never had it before.)
I saw a doctor when my case quickly went from peeling "plaques" on my scalp, to my legs, back and stomach. The doctor gave me a mild steroid ointment and then progressed to much stronger steroid ointments and creams. I used the $600. Prescription shampoo and also a messy scalp oil. None of these things worked very well, if at all.
I trolled the psoriasis Web sites for alternative remedies and bemoaned getting the heartbreak of psoraisis after 54 years.
I tried tanning salons, an oil from India and glycerin. I also began taking vitamin D3 lozenges more regularly. None of these things worked.
THEN, purely by accident, I put some cracked heel foot softener on a bad patch on my thigh. I had purchased the foot softener at Walmart, 2 oz. For under $4. The softener contained emu oil and beeswax. The very next day, I noticed more improvement from this treatment than from any of the other things I had been using. I thought it was a fluke, so I continued to treat just that one spot more than once a day. WOW! That patch went away.
So I went back to the psoriasis cure Web sites and searched for emu oil. There it was, listed as a cure... For some, not all people. I also read a few medical study abstracts concerning the fact that emu oil absorbs through the skin very quickly.
I used up the 2 oz. of foot softener and cured all the patches on my body that I could reach. I also found a more expensive cream at the drugstore that was not yellow and greasy like the foot softener and contained a higher percentage of emu oil. Both of these cured all of my patches except for some hard to treat bumps left on my scalp. I never ended up buying 100% emu oil as the two weaker preparations worked for me. I continue to use both of them on any dry or suspicious-looking skin, and my heels!

I have had psorasis of the scalp for years. I have tried a lot of different treatments, even one I got from your site borax which works but I had to wash my hair every 2 days to keep it under control, just recently I tried boracic powder, 2 tsp in a cup of hot water allow it to cool then pour it onto my scalp and massage it in and leave it on my scalp for 15 minutes, I did this for 5 days, touch wood it's been 2 weeks now and no sign of the scalp psorasis.

I flushed my system well and truly!! I never eat junk food. No sugar; little if any fat and have been a vegetarian for many years. My particular bout of psoriasis is Koebners syndrome, caused by a reaction to minor surgery. It's just that it is taking longer to fix itself than usual. I'm now on Barley Grass and acidophilus. We will see what happens next.

I use a pint about 2-3 cups of h2o2 in the bath water, use a rag to remove the scales without discomfort and for a few days it's at ease. I'm sure used often it would work a lot better. Does work with eczema great also.

I started having a rash and as it turns out it's psoriasis. Last week I started a combination of of both cider vinegar and coconut oil orally, per the site's recommendation. Well, there's a lot of different remedies there but upon reading them all these seemed likely to work.
Today I woke up to significantly clearer skin! I've heard that sunlight works too. (It's winter! ) Additionally, I applied the oil topically. Just wanted to give a shout of thanks! This condition is so gross It shut me down to the hopes of meeting someone to date. Of course more women have been flirting with me lately. Something about not being available...... ? What's the holistic approach to the opposite sex?

I've suffered from Psoriasis for about 3 years now. I have a patch of skin on my leg that is extremely dry, scaly, itchy and inflammed at times. I've tried soaking in Epsom Salt, it's helped somewhat. But recently I've been on a search for clean drinking water. In that search I've noticed that my drinking water has a pH of 5. 5. Since then I've used pinches of baking soda to bring the pH of my drinking water to 7.0. In a matter of about only 1 week my Psoriasis has improved drastically. It's much less dry, inflammation gone and the itch has completely gone away. It's still not completely healed but it's SOOO much better.
I'm currently drinking Poland Spring water. I'm still not done searching for the best drinking water yet. I don't know why the pH on this water is a 5.5. I retain the water I drink much better now, I used to pee it right out in minutes.
I'd love to know if this helps other people's Psoriasis.
Tanning

I've had guttate/plaque Psoriasis since I was 16, and I fear that now I may be developing inverse Psoriasis. Now I'm 25 and have been without health insurance since I was 21, so needless to say I've had to be pretty creative with my treatment. For the first 5 years I used a clobetasol propionate steroid oinment, which worked well until I became steroid dependant. I've developed secondary skin infections from overnight flare ups, and it seems like any tiny change in the environment or in my body will trigger it.
I find that tanning is the fastest way to treat it but if you don't get rid of it fast enough then you just get way to dark! I read that things like celery, oranges, and flaxseed contain something called Psoralen with helps your body process UV rays more effectively. Even if you don't tan indoors but you live somewhere like South Texas (where we also have the possibly worst allergens), I learned that eating 4-5 sticks of celery or drinking a single serving of pure OJ before sun exposure really does wonder. So much so, that you can even feel a tingly sensation inside your skin when it's working. Cool, right? I actually got on here to find other remedies, since I'm having a severe flareup at the moment. But as I was thinking about how well that used to work, I got excited and wanted to tell you all about it! A little carried away, maybe....
