Avoid Soy

For women: Excess estrogen can lead to excess weight. High estrogen levels can lead to weight gain and make it very difficult to lose weight. Estrogen is stored in fat cells. The more fat cells you have, the higher your estrogen levels will be, the higher your estrogen levels, the more fat your body will retain. It can be a frustrating cycle.

One way to naturally balance this hormone is to reduce your intake of phytoestrogens (a naturally occurring plant chemical that can mimic the female hormone estrogen when consumed).

One of the biggest culprits of phytoestrogens is SOY and related soy products, including soy lecithin (found in nearly every chocolate treat). Don't fret, there are soy free options for chocolate, though.

Strictly limiting your intake of soy can give your body the opportunity to release and eliminate the excess estrogen that builds up over time. Less estrogen = less fat retention.

While soy does contain essential Omega-3 fatty acids, there are many other options to get the same Omega-3s in your diet.

This was suggested by a trained nutritionist as part of the first step in any weight loss plan.

I just have to share this. Even though I have taught Hatha Yoga most of my adult life, I was unable to lose the fertility goddess marks, namely belly fat and heavy boobs. Even though at another time in history, that was alright.

Then, on becoming vegan and shunning wheat and gluten, in about four months I lost it! Now I can crunch a bra in one fist, and fittings are a problem of the past. All this due to education on EC!

It feels great ladies! . Namaste, Om

Be careful with the amount of ACV you put in your water. I started out doing 2 tps in water 3 times a day and it gave me a yeast infection. Honestly I have never felt any health benefits from ACV. When I have stopped drinking it for a few months I feel no different.

Leeanne from Australia, being around the same age myself, we're in the pre-menopausal or menopausal stage right now so weight loss is nigh on impossible for us during this time. At least that's the way it is for most women. However, weight loss for me is achieved by cutting right back on any processed foods - if it comes out of a box, or a bag, I avoid it. At this time of year for us in Aus and NZ, we've got access to loads of fresh fruit and veges so if it doesn't come off with the things you've done, then I have a feeling you'll have to get used to it until your body goes through it's phase.

Leanne: As a fun loving teen who played hard all the time I weighed 150, as a middle aged worker I weighed 180, and as an old man who did not work I weighed 230, even though I ate the same amount of food. From 16 to 36 I gained 30lbs. of muscle. From 50 to 60 I gained 50lbs. of fat. At the age of 61 I was back to 180 feeling and thinking better than in my entire life because I studied the way food affects cellular biology and went on a complete whole raw superfood program. The details are too long to explain here but the short version is that eating the best foods the right way simultaneously nourishes, detoxes, repairs, and enables the body to function at peak performance. Watch raw food and superfood videos and study the Andrew Kim Blogs why cells go bad, insulin revisited, and carbon dioxide for some enlightenment.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for weight loss. I am 50 yrs of age, female, and for the life of me can't budge the weight. I am just overweight and would like to lose 5 kilos.

I have tried every diet around. I have just tried the low carbohydrate diet, gone off sugar, and any type of unhealthy food for months, drink lots of water, tried ACV, exercise, and cannot even lose half a kilo nor any cms either. Could my liver be the problem. If so what can I do about it. Any suggestions?

Hawthorn and Hibiscus Tea

Hawthorn and hibiscus tea shrinks my waist. It's T... M... Brand. I drink three cups each day, the difference is noticeable the next morning. It's dark pink colored and fruity flavored. I tried lasiks once and this seems to work as well as lasiks did. I've had that "apple shape" since I was a child. I think it started after I got vaccinated.

I used to drink way too much coffee and aspirin without eating. Now I get really sick if I do. My legs hurt, my ankles swell, my stomach hurts. So I quit the coffee and aspirin. You might want to do that too. If my legs hurt I eat bananas and drink fortified rice milk and go to bed, or eat cottage cheese with spaghetti sauce. So my digestive system is probably suffering from the aspirin and coffee. I tend to not tolerate gluten, either.

WebMD says this about Hawthorn:

"Hawthorn can help improve the amount of blood pumped out of the heart during contractions, widen the blood vessels, and increase the transmission of nerve signals.

Hawthorn also seems to have blood pressure-lowering activity, according to early research. It seems to cause relaxing of the blood vessels farther from the heart. It seems that this effect is due to a component in hawthorn called proanthocyanidin.

Research suggests that hawthorn can lower cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad cholesterol"), and triglycerides (fats in the blood). It seems to lower accumulation of fats in the liver and the aorta (the largest artery in the body, located near the heart). Hawthorn fruit extract may lower cholesterol by increasing the excretion of bile, reducing the formation of cholesterol, and enhancing the receptors for LDLs. It also seems to have antioxidant activity..."

Weight Loss Remedies After Pregnancy

Hi Shazi-- I found that not eating or drinking four to five hours between meals is the best remedy for weight loss. Both of my babies were breech and only one was a caesarean. I had struggled with weight problems before I got pregnant and learned how necessary it was not to put anything in my mouth, not even a taste, between meals. It is necessary to eat balanced meals so you are satisfied and to eliminate cravings. If you are breastfeeding drink large amounts of water after you eat and/or nurse. Right now, just love that baby... It took you nine months to gain the weight and it will take awhile to come off. When you first get up in the morning, pull in your stomach, tuck your butt and do side bends. Start with ten (each side) then add two each day. That will help but that's not the most important thing right now. You can also just keep pinching/massaging the area while sitting.

Also I wonder if the reason ACV helps us loose weight is the vitamin k is good for our liver and gall bladder and helps with fat metabolism?! Just wondering.. Thanks for reminding me. Editor's Choice

I am a believer! I thank God for you. I stumbled upon your website because I was looking for a natural way to lose weight. I was at my wits end. I started reading all of the ACV reviews and they gave me so much encouragement. I had some organic ACV in my kitchen so I started the regimine two weeks ago. I started at 215 lbs and this morning I weigh 209.8! So far I'm down 6 pounds!! During this time my husband and I went out for a special dinner and I had wine, bread, a steak dinner, mac and cheese, and cheesecake for dessert! I have not dieted or worked out once. I take 2 tbls with 6-8 ounces of water 3 times a day and the weight is slowly but surely coming off. Before I would have been so discouraged because I wanted the weight to come off quickly. I have now realized that, like the turtle, slow and steady is the way to go. Along with the weight loss I have also noticed other benefits as well. My skin is glowing, the whites of my eyes are "whiter", I am post-menopausal and would wake up several times throughout the night but since I started taking ACV I sleep without waking up (unless I have to make a bathroom run), and my energy is through the roof! I am so very happy for the weight loss and the other benefits from ACV. This is some amazing stuff! I will continue to take it for life!

Also you want to stay away from polyunsaturated oils, Omega-6 oils. These include canola, soybean oil, corn oil, safflower and sunflower oil. Olive oil is great, I mix it with coconut oil for my homemade dressings. Here is a good non-commercial link that explains it. http://www.healthhabits.ca/2008/08/07/omega-6-badomega-3-good/

Still looking for answers from anyone who has experienced weight loss with lecithin. Let's try to keep replies on this topic. Still haven't had one reply on topic yet. Who has used lecithin before and noticed a drop in weight?

FYI I do not have extra weight "due to soy consumption". I have been overweight my whole life since puberty. I have a damaged hypothalamus (metastat) due to childhood seizures and seizure drugs. Let's not be jupming to conclusions. As it happens, I have switched to almond and coconut milks for the last year, with no effect either way. This isn't about me, however, the discussion is about weight loss with lecithin.

Dietary Changes
Posted by Anon (Anon) on 05/15/2013

Hi, It's called the fast diet, michel mosleys book is on amazon- it's very popular here in UK, lots of people have been losing weight.

Dietary Changes
Posted by Joy (Battleground, Wash) on 05/13/2013

I was watching on Oregon Public Broadcasting not too long ago a show by Michael Mosley the BBC. my spouse talked me into watching it with him. It was VERY INTERESTING.

There was one guy that just ate vegan, huge bowl but tossed the apple, ate the peel. Stuff like that. His blood and numbers were WAY healty and weight was low. He also was on a minimalist diet where you eat less calories to maintain your weight and run a lean machine/body

Then there was another diet that you would eat normal, like you wanted to eat and the next day only eat one meal mid day whatever you wanted to eat.. But one meal. This resulted in weight loss too but the blood and numbers weren't as good as the first guy daily undereating for his weight.

I tend to be like the number two scenario.... I overeat maybe one day and then the next don't feel much like eating , back and forth, my weight stays the same mostly. I have good numbers, but if they were going bad I might try the first diet of eating less and health food only to get my ship back in order....

Spouse says show is not on the internet like most opb shows.

Hunger

Babesia is a dreadful parasite that goes into the blood stream and attacks the brain. My friend's sister is a teacher and during the summer some mice got in her class and she was cleaning the room for the fall quarter and got this. She is fighting for her life.... Doctors do not have answers... She has lyme like symptoms, plus more... Body tremors, seizures - grand mal style, has to use a cart, fibromyalgia type muscle pains and weaknesses, tingling, brain memory issues and she has a master's degree in education and is bilingual. Her meds run 5 k a month and she is still ambulanced to the hospital on regular schedule.

VERY SCARY! She didn't eat this, it entered her airway.

Hunger
Posted by KT (the USA) on 05/13/2013

I guess I need to put it another way. Because our "engineered" food cannot be digested properly, the parasites, in whatever stage they are in can be harbored until they get farther down the digestive tract. Alternating garlic and ACV can help get rid of them unless they have proliferated to require antibiotics to kill all stages. Sometimes that is necessary. Probiotics can restore what has been destroyed by the antibiotics. Then eat for prevention.

I am trying to share what I have learned from sources that are not being offered to (and being sheltered from) the medical profession. With all due respect they just do not know what is happening to our food supply. This is why I am "sad".

My communication skills are not good and it is difficult to provide every ounce of support to what I have learned. I have learned a lot of piecemeal information for over twenty years by application and want to provide what I have learned by observation and experience.

In addition, food is not the only way parasites can enter the body.

I do not believe the hydrochloric acid in the stomach kills all parasites. They can bypass the stomach and attach to the walls of the intestines/colon/rectum.

Hunger
Posted by Joy (Battleground, Wash) on 05/12/2013

I read a lot but don't know where I read this maybe Hulda Clark, I bought a cleanse from them but couldn't tolerate 16 clove caps a day... I think I made it to day 8 or 10 and felt sick.... Never did see any parasites... but I gave it a good go.

there was a baby with a cough and they couldn't find the source... Anyway... May have been another country she lived in.... The doc took the tongue stick and light and saw something move back there. He began to roll this worm onto the stick and it rolled and rolled and rolled and turned out to be the length of the child long... YUK. Poor baby.

I do believe that if a person drinks a cup of water half an hour before the meal then the body can DUMP THE ACID into the stomach/intestines to process the food.

Without the water it would be dangerous for the body to dump those acids in there, it would eat a hole in the stomach lining....

Drink 1-2 cups water half hour before meals to have the right amount of acid and water for the stomach and bowels to process the nutrients and the acid should kill parasties on cantact. Love, joy

Hunger
Posted by KT (the USA) on 05/11/2013

Parasites can be a problem for everyone and based on what I have been learning, the binders and fillers in supplements can come from plants that have been engineered to last longer. They cannot be as easily digested and I believe this foodstuff remains in the body, nourishes parasites, could begin to ferment and may even become malignant.

I know animal feed is not held to the same standards as our food but the evidence suggests that if food has been genetically modified so it won't spoil, it seems to me that our disease/drought resistant plants could possibly be harboring creatures that are able to survive. In 1967 one of my horses died from moldy corn that turned toxic in his stomach. The mold was not visible. I have often wondered if this is why, when I was eating plain yogurt and more fresh fruit and vegetables, I used to have SO MUCH TROUBLE with candida. My PCP (who I rarely see) advised me several years ago that medicine changes every four or five years. Our food is changing. I hope I have made some sense and shared in an acceptable way. What is happening to our food supply is a threat to all of us.

Hunger
Posted by Kathy (the USA) on 05/11/2013

I wanted to add taking a probiotic after a course of antibiotics would be important to replace the beneficial flora antibiotics destroy. Is it because I mentioned a PCP and antibiotic? I know this site is for alternative medicine but I believe some things go on too long and people get too desperate to have the time to read books for help. They come here for help NOW and as harmful as antibiotics can be they can still knock out the worst symptoms so someone could feel well enough to start over, eating to repair then advance to preventative care. I apologize for being so piecemeal but that is part of the problem from severe brain injuries. I'll stop posting because I cannot always be thorough.

A friend of mine, many years ago, went to the salad bar with her coworker for lunch.

A week or so later, I can't remember exact. She was rushed to emergency room with systems shutting down, kidney , liver, heart , respiration , and they ran a battery of tests. They didn't find anything but told her plan for her end. I don't remember all the details but the coworker then fell ill with the same problems and they put the two together and it was worms from the salad bar. SHOCKING .

My friend deworms herself regularly now.

Hunger
Posted by Kathy (the USA) on 05/09/2013

In reviewing this thread... I'm sure I mentioned ACV but in constant editing I must have deleted it. Take some ACV after each meal. The longer you could have been harboring any parasite or tape worm, it may take longer to get rid of it/them. I don't know, but If you have a PCP maybe a good antibiotic would totally eliminate and then you could start over with preventitive care.

Because of what is happening to our food supply, I'd stop the supplements and cook all vegetables until tender so you obtain beneficial assimilation. No long term studies to show whether the binders and/or fillers could be countering the active ingredient. The vitamins/supplements that haven't been made from synthetic material are more than likely manufactured from plants that have been genetically modified and are harder to digest. This can create a double whammy for any ailment because this has been going on for over fifty years. I have to have animal protein but even that is tainted because those critters are being fed the same. I would again like to support what Caitlin suggested.

Hi Guys, I'm 30 years old and have been a vegetarian since I was 16. I guess I'm unsure of just how much fat I should be consuming - I eat an avocado every other day and a handful (or 2) of almonds after lunch sometimes. I never through about having worms but will definitely get this checked out.

I take a lot of supplements as my initial thoughts when the constant hunger started was that my body was craving nutrients, maybe the suppliments aren't sufficient? (out of general interest I take a mulit, Iron, vit b, magnesium, maca, kelp, Q10 and spirulina at different points throughout the day)

I have just bought some coconut old (because everyone seems to rave about it's benefits) and will start taking this after every mean - Just one teaspoon?

Thanks for all the advise guys, I love this website.

Hunger

Hi again Nicole--I thought it was important to tell you fat slows down/prolongs digestion. If you are eating enough protein and fat this is supposed to prevent the constant hunger. It sounds like something is out of balance. What is your age?

Hunger
Posted by Caitlin (Austin, Tx) on 05/08/2013

Sure! Are you eating enough? Perhaps your body is crying out for more nutrients you are not presently giving it in the food you regularly eat. You can try 2 things: 1. Up your fat intake. Try butter or coconut oil. Start with a teaspoon after a meal and see if this does not help. Or, 2. you may need more protein than you are getting. Have you been checked for iron or B deficiencies? If you are eating a lot of beans & grains, you could be stifling your body's ability to absorb certain nutrients in your food. I would get a nutrient/mineral deficiency analysis first. Also, check for worms -- can happen. But, I'm betting you need more good fats and protein in your diet. I was once vegetarian and felt extroardinary for about 6 months; then sheer tiredness consumed me. Ate a piece of meat --! Boing! It was as if a switch had flipped on in my body. An "Aha" moment, for sure. Turns out I had anemia, despite paying close attention to getting enough supposedly high protein from veggies (beans, grains, salads, etc. ) and fruit matter. You can't beat even an occassional meat meal for upping iron and getting those A, C, B-vitamins our bodies need. Remember, meat packs the most nutrients of any food in one package. So once-a-week meat or eggs may be your ticket. Others, I'm sure, will think differantly, but I have found this to be true for me.

Hunger
Posted by Kathy (the USA) on 05/08/2013

Sounds like you may be not getting enough fat in your diet. Try eating more walnuts or more butter on your vegetables. You need the fat... Your gallbladder needs fat to contract. B vitamins also stimulate appetite.

Hunger

I seem to have an ongoing issue which I thought I would put out there to see if anyone can offer assistance.

I am constantly hungry.

I eat good food (I'm a vegetarian and I eat a lot of nuts and fresh fruit and veg) I try to get protein in every mean and yet still, after eating till I'm full - half an hour later I feel hungry again. I don't give into temptation because I feel that this will just lead to bigger issues but I can't understand why I'm feeling hungry all the time.

Just as a side note : when I feel hungry I try drinking some water with Spirulina but it doesn't really help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Nicole

To Molly and Louwrence: Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my questions! Never tried a coffee enema! I think you were both right about detoxing so I just wanted to provide a quick update: I stopped the apples and greens yesterday morning. So it has been now about 2 days. The pain subsided about 90% by yesterday afternoon and 100% today. I will start again on my smoothies tomorrow, but with smaller portion sizes.

My guess is that it's a herx reaction and you are detoxing quickly. You can power through and suffer with the reaction or you can ease up on your regimen and take things more slowly. Others might have other ideas. Whenever I try something new to detox, there's a period of suffering with increased symptoms at the beginning, unfortunately...

hi everyone... Hoping someone will know what is going on. In an effort to lose weight slowly but healthfully, I have been blending organic greens and 2 small organic apples with water and chia seeds and drinking this green smoothie twice a day since Tuesday. I am also eating other foods, but in small quantities. Yesterday, Thursday, I started to have muscle aches and a slight headache that comes and goes. I was up most of the night with waves of pain throughout my body. Feels like what you get right before the flu hits. I think I must be detoxing but am very surprised that this is happening just with dark leafy greens and apples! Can anyone recommend the best course of action? I do wonder if it's fluoride being detoxed too quickly from my body. I am supplementing with lugol's iodine by the way and plan to take vitamin c. Thank you very much in advance!

Regarding your rash to cinnamon - I believe cinnamon is a lot like ginger in that energetically it moves toxins to the skin for removal from the body, vs. the bowels, kidneys, liver etc.
