It is true that fast foods are bad for health and the most dreadful effects of them is that they slow down the work of your immune system. I used to eat a lot and gained some 30lbs of weight and suffered of many diseases due to improper immune system. My wife advised me eat natural food and workout in the gym. I am perfectly alright now. Anyways your article is quite good and justifies all the points that you have discussed. Thanks for such a detailed explanation!

My experience wasn't that severe, but I had a really bad experience with master cleanse too. I got so weak, my whole body was shaking, I was sick like never in my life. Maybe those are detox symptoms, but such detox is way to hard on the body, I think. There is simply no quick fix, balance is the key.
Check Testosterone Levels

Hi, just wondered if you could speak more about what to do for low testosterone levels, and low hormone levels in general? I have low EVERYTHING right now (after two children, breastfeeding, etc. ), and no trace of cortisol at all! I was put on a low level of cortisol, and am working on consistency with herbs to help my adrenals (which have been deficient for years and years... ), but any other advice or recommendations would be wonderful! My energy is so low, and I am chronically fatigued, struggle with candida, etc. Thanks!!

Mondragon be encouraged that there is at least a change in the right direction for you. About 94-96% (according to survey results a few years back) of people who lost weight at the rate of 1 kg or more per week put the weight back on whereas if weight was lost at the rate of 1 kg a month then it was rare to put the weight on. You could also look at ACV & Coconut Oil.

what helped me bigtime was....
(1) 12 oz glass green juice (veggies only) each morning.
fage yoghurt for breakfast with nuts (high in protein and good fats, keeps you full).
incorporating more raw foods in my daily intake.
cut out all soda, all chemical sweetners, all grains, all fruits until you have lost the weight and then you can add gradually to your daily intake.
hope this helps, t

Normal human blood pH is 7.35-7.45. Therefore 7.11 is too acidic. Our blood is slightly alkaline.
Urine Therapy
Posted by Yogagirl (Orange County, Ca) on 05/25/2011
That's a great question, and one that was covered very thoroughly in the book,
The Water of Life. J W Armstrong, the author, advocated drinking the urine in whatever condition it was in on leaving the body. It could be cloudy, bloody, it didn't really matter. In one case, a patient with heavy fluid buildup in his body was unable to produce any urine, so the author provided his own urine for the patient to drink, and that primed the pump, so to speak, and the patient was then able to urinate in great quantity.
The author's mode of treatment was to put the patient on a urine fast to cleanse the body and urine massages to cleanse the skin. The patient was required to drink all of the urine that was produced and as much water as the patient cared to drink, and that was it, until the body had cleansed itself and recovered. The urine ran clear when the patient had recovered.
After you see the benefit of urine therapy, you stop thinking of it as a waste product and start thinking of it as a natural resource. After all, urine is what is running through our veins, prior to being filtered through the kidneys and expelled.

Interesting post. I haven't actually read a book about urine therapy so far but I would be curious as whether you could answer this question which I have posted several times already. I would be afraid to try to drink urine because of the fact that when you go for an urine test they see whether you are ill by what comes out of your body. Wouldn't you be drinking it again? Take a bladder infection for example, would you want to drink what comes out? By the way, maybe it would be good if you could post your comments on the book your read on the book review page? I am looking for a good one if ever I decide to give it a try.

After researching the benefits of urine on this website and others, I finally mustered up the courage to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised.
I was 30 pounds overweight and always feeling bloated, my stomach would get in the way when I bent over and it was hard, like I was pregnant. At 54 years of age, I knew pregnancy was not the problem. I was really frustrated because whatever I did, I could not lose weight. It did not matter if I ate nothing for a few days, I never lost weight. I only gained. I had three different sizes of clothes in my closet as I gradually progressed to bigger and bigger sizes.
Before starting the urine therapy, I was very constipated. The urine therapy, fasting for 24 hours on urine only, cured that immediately. For the next few days, I went to the bathroom and went and went and went. I could feel my stomach getting smaller as time went by. Although I continued drinking urine every morning, the constipation came back again after a couple of weeks
I had gotten a book, The Water of Life, by J W Armstrong, who advocated urine fasting, urine enemas, urine massages, and of course, urine drinking. He maintained you could cure any health problem by following urine therapy and provides case histories in his book. So I tried the urine enemas, and they did the job. I had to resort to them several times, but you just felt clean inside after doing them. I really feel they kickstarted my body back into working again. I felt this feeling of something moving near my heart area, kind of a scraping sensation, and I was trying to research what organs were in the heart area, or was I having a heart attack. It was not a heart attack, as I am still alive and feeling better than ever. I do feel that something was plugged up and it started moving again.
I started saving excess urine and started bathing in it, with a gallon of urine to a tub of water. It really helped my varicose veins, as it stimulates the circulation and helps get rid of blockages. After soaking in a urine bath for about an hour, I had to scrape my skin because all this dark material would start coming out of my skin, I think it was all of the impurities in my skin. I would have to do the urine baths twice a week because it would take a while to accumulate urine for a bath. In the meantime, my skin was trying to get rid of the impurities in it, so I ended up having very itchy skin between baths. Soaking in the urine baths always got rid of the itches. And I always felt thinner after taking the baths, and really clean. Your skin feels noticeably softer. And you do not smell like urine after bathing in it. It is supposed to be beneficial for your hair too, and help to keep your hair from going gray, although my hair is still gray.
In short, it has been six months since I started the urine therapy and I could not be more delighted with the results. At virtually no cost, my wrinkles are less, my weight is less, my varicose veins are less, my bloated stomach has gone way down, my skin is softer. I have always been very healthy, but I just feel great now like I did in my 40's. I have a desk job so I sit for eight hours a day, and my knees started locking up right before I started the urine therapy. That is no longer a problem.
Just a few words of caution, I have not eaten beef or pork for about twenty years (not recommended by Edgar Cayce), but I do eat lamb, chicken and fish. Chicken can give your urine a bitter taste, lamb makes it taste really good, like a good broth. If you try urine therapy, you may want to modify your food choices so you can tolerate your therapy a little better. Your skin does get really itchy with the urine therapy, but the itchiness does go away eventually and your skin is really clear after that.

I'm confused about your remark about the ph of 7.11. A ph of 7 is neutral, and anything above 7 is moving toward "basic" not acidic.

Hi Jatarra, I was in the same position when I was a child growing up. Buying loads of noodles because they were cheap and fill you up. I to gained alot of weight growing up at my biggest I was 305lbs. My food choices were horrible high in fat hardly any fruits and vegetables or lean meats. I was 17years old just finished my Junior year in high school when I got tired of being 305lbs so that summer leading to my senior year I changed my diet which consisted of turkey sandchiches and drinking lots of water and green tea while playing a lot of basketball. That summer I lost close to sixty pounds. After graduation I kept gaining weight losing weight it was a back and forth thing for me.
This was my life until I started running and working out. It was not much what I was doing a run around 2 blocks and 20push ups 5pull ups and 50 sit ups was how I started but I kept at it and I started losing so much weight after that and my streghnth increased and so did my endurance. I do admit that it is hard to find motivation when you get teased but if you stick with it you can do it. I had lost at the most 170lbs just by running and doing simple workouts at home. Now I am trying to gain muscle mass but it takes years to change lifestyles and dedication with self motiviation.
Now I weigh 150lbs all I do is push ups pull ups ab work out and I took a sandbag from the side of the roads put it in a bagpack and I use that as my weight. My diet consits of lots of fruits bananas, oranges, apples. Lots of vegetables and lots of grilled chicken breast and fish.

★☆☆☆☆WARNING!
I just wanted to share my experience with the Master Cleanse. I did it 2 years ago. The first 4 days were great and I was feeling wonderful, the 5th day not so much. I started going down hill on the 5th day and on the 6th day I landed in the hospital on the Cardiac floor. I did everything exactly like the diet said. I am in the medical field, so I do understand how PH works etc. Mine, incidentally, was 7. 11 at the time I was admitted. This is extremely acidic! The ER Physician, told my son, "If you hadn't have brought your mother in this evening, she wouldn't have been around in the morning".
They actually thought I drank "antifreeze" because the only time they had seen a human poisoned in this way was with that type of poisoning. It took me 2 days to convince them that, I had only been on the Master Cleanse and nothing else!!! They thought I had tried to commit suicide!!!
My heart went into arrythmias and was 173 while I was laying down in the ER.
My symptoms started with feeling queasy the evening of the 5th day after starting the cleanse, to throwing up repeatedly throughout the morning of the 6th, and profuse diarrhea. I got so weak I couldn't walk or hold my head up. My son found me on the floor barely conscious.
I just want people to see the other side of this "cleanse". It washes your electrolytes out FAST. I was only 42 years old when I did this, and in good health. I wanted to try it to "detox".
PLEASE BE CAREFUL! If my son didn't find me when he did, I know I wouldn't be alive now. I've been in the medical field for 21 years, so if it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. I also met a nurse in Eastern Wa who told me a woman had died several years ago from this cleanse. For her.. it was too late.
I AM AMAZED THAT PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO SUSTAIN THIS FOR WEEKS ON END!!! THEY ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE!

Try this:
Add
more protein in your diet. Space your meals 4-5 hours apart.
Never eat fruit by itself. Eat fruit as your dessert with a meal that has protein. Try to limit your fruit intake to 3 small servings per day. Fruit are good carbs that need to be eaten with a protein meal.
Never eat carbs or starches by itself, always with a protein.
If you eat yogurt, make sure its Greek yogurt without the fruit at the bottom. Add your own. You can even freeze your yogurt and eat it as a frozen dessert. Eat your yogurt one at a time at least two hours apart.
It might help, this is what my nutrionist/dietitian suggested for my weight loss.

Nick, have you ever tried a high fat, low carb diet? Maybe reading Barry Groves book Trick and Treat would help you. It is not a very limiting diet, on the contrary, you get to eat all kinds of lovely foods just you eat less potatos, rice, pasta and bread and eat more fat meats, cook with cream, drink full milk..... There are other books on the subject but this is the one I read! He also has a book on the diet itself with recipes and so but it is less detailed on the facts about the illnesses. It is a very interesting book and easy to read! Maybe against what you have been taught for a long time but know what? Maybe what you were taught was wrong! The author and his wife lost a lot of weight decades ago and never put it on again!

Have you had any thyroid testing done? Have them test not only TSH but Free T3 and Free T4. Then take the results to thyroid forums for some insight -- don't just take a doc's word for what is "normal" since the majority of docs don't seem to have much knowledge on thyroid matters, judging by the many thousands of misdiagnosed or outright dismissed sufferers out there. Do let us know what you find out; it may help someone else looking in here down the line. Good luck!

I would check the side effects of the antidepressants. I too, have been dealing with some of your health issues, including weight. For me, I had to be satisfied that I was taking a whole food diet. That means fresh perishable foods. Also, mostly just plain, loose green tea in the am, and then only water or lemon water. Recently, I've tried MMS and colodial silver, and the weight has been reducing, as well as an increase in energy. You should read up on the alkalising drink, because it's imperative to keep your PH at about 7, or 7.25. When people ask me for supplements, (I guess they see I've improved) I always tell them about raising the PH, before I tell them anything else. The body heals with a neutral (7) PH.

I need to lose 20 pounds and have tried everything, exercise, dieting- nothing helps. I'll lose a few pounds then gain it back without changing anything. I have been trying the ACV (2 tbsp per 16 oz drank throughout day)that I saw on this site for about a week but have seen no change. I have also taken EV Coconut Oil (and cut fat & calories from my diet to make up for it). I am taking antidepressants and had my gall bladder removed and was wondering if either of these factors could be contributing to the inability to lose weight. I also have Epstein Barr and fibromyalgia so I have been taking vitamins as well as COQ10 & L-Carnatine for about a year just to have some energy. Any suggestions? Getting this weight off is really important to me, I'll try anything at this point. Thanks.
Yerba Mate Tea

Hi, I just want to tell you guys about Yerba Mate. I am from Uruguay, South America, where we drink mate every single day, all day. It is safe , good for your digestion, keeps you awake naturally ( so do not drink it in the evening if you are not used to it) and helps decrease your appetite. In the US you can find it at the latin markets. As far as the cancer, it has been related to cancer of the esophagus but it can happen with any beverage you drink hot , so to clarify it is related to the temperature of the drink not to the kind of drink itself.
Hope this helps!

I think I forgot to mention the cayenne pepper (either ground or flakes) in the Creole seasoning. Very important: cayenne heals thyroids, cuts appetite, and heals a lot of other things--and makes things taste good. Also, forgot to mention, on the fruit and veggie fast, I also had papaya (tastes better with lemon squeezed over it), and pineapple, which tastes great all by itself. I think the enzymes in these help to clean up the gunk in our digestive systems.

I forgot one very important ingredient for the veggie soup. One chopped green bell pepper! Creole has got to have green bell pepper and celery (already in original recipe) to taste really good.

Here's what happened after my 21 day raw fruit and veggie fast. Mostly I ate watermelon, raw carrots, an occasional carrot juice, apples, avocado (in moderation), clover sprouts, lemon juice, and black strap molasses (for vitamins and minerals). One good recipe: grated carrot mixed with minced apple, with lemon squeezed on top. Towards the end, I found that clover sprouts have the same chemicals that soy has--and was hindering the working of my still-healing thyroid. This may be why I only lost 15 pounds in the 21 days, when I expected to lose a pound a day. As to be expected, 5 pounds came back on when I started eating a normal diet again. The first thing I ate was the veggie soup from the Vegetable Soup cure in this Weight Loss category (you have to be very careful how you break a fast). That soup is SO great! I am going to try going on that for a week--starting tomorrow. It made me more full than any other food ever--even peanut butter--and got rid of all cravings. I think a lot of my hunger comes from inflamed intestines--because I got extra hungry when I ate meat. When I made the soup, I used homemade chicken broth (all store-bought has MSG), and Creole seasonings: salt, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano, basil, thyme, and lots of paprika. SO yummy! If I have any success--I will post under the Vegetable Soup suggestion. (I keep homemade broth in the freezer at all times. My recipe: Bake a whole chicken for dinner. If there's any meat left, take it from the bones and store that in the fridge. Put the bones in the crock pot with two quartered onions, 1 1/2 tsp. Of salt, and enough pure water to cover. Simmer on low for about 24 hours. Let cool till only warm, and pour through a colander which is sitting in a big-enough bowl. Then place the bowl of broth in the fridge until the fat solidifies on top, and skim the fat off (otherwise it is grossly greasy). Then freeze in smaller containers.

Here's an update on my post from July 14. I got on the scales and weighed more than I had all year. Last summer, I tried to do the Master Cleanse, but I've done it so many years (probably with leaky gut syndrome) that I just couldn't down the lemonade any more and it turned out to be a 21 day water and carrot fast. I lost 19 pounds and only 4 of them came back when I started eating again. Well, now the weight was climbing back up a year later. I got mad and just quite eating altogether. Then a plan formed in my mind: How about a juice fast, except eat the raw fruits and veggies, so the fiber keeps the waste moving out, and I wouldn't get sick (I always get extremely sick and weak on fasts unless I can afford a really good colon cleanse which I can't, right now). I'm also drinking lots of water and taking some black strap molasses, bentonite clay, and clear Metamucil. I have lost 8 1/2 pounds in the 9 days since I started. I'm going for 21 days again, which might get me to my ideal weight. I also found and am reading a great book on undiagnosed hypothyroidism (which could cost you your life because of heart disease and cancer) called "Solved: The Riddle of Illness. Your Amazing Thyroid and How You Can Work With It To Control Arthritis, etc. Etc. " Authors: Stephen E. Langer, M. D. , and James F. Scheer.

Note on my previous post: WOOHOO! I just took my temp and it is 98. 5! The 1200 IUs of vitamin D, and stopping the iodine did it. (Because of Wilson's Syndrome, I only take iodine drops if I get acid reflux, which is almost never, when it used to be daily. ) Now that my thyroid seems to be nearly healed, I feel so encouraged that I have thought of a new strategy for weight loss (also from reading other posts). I think what made Laure's thyroid and mine get bad, is a combination of adrenal fatigue (hers from ilness, mine from mercury poisoning), heavy metals getting into the thyroid, and candida (which mercury creates a hospitable environment for). Here's what I am already doing: No wheat (rice, potatoes and corn ok), and no goitrogens, and 1200 IUs vit D, yeast-free selenium, zinc, stress B vits, cod liver oil, and liquid calcium in the morning. At night (because I don't have coffee to block it at bedtime): 35 mg of iron, and 200 mg magnesium. The magnesium helps me sleep, and the iron is another mineral your thyroid needs but, very few people know this. New strategy: try jumping rope and moderate weights a few times a week (already walking a lot), 3 cayenne pills a day, cilantro to carry out the mercury, and olive leave, cat's claw, black walnut, and pau d'arco to get rid of the candida. Licorice herb will help heal your adrenals from your major illness, but only take it if your blood pressure is normal or below--and monitor, as licorice raises blood pressure. Also, I can't wait to try the suggestion on organic buttermilk. No doubt, if these things work--I will post again!
Multiple Remedies
Posted by Sarah (Dallas, Tx) on 07/14/2010
Laure, I hope you check back on your post, even though it's been quite awhile. Iodine drops got rid of my acid reflux. I guess iodine helps make digestive enzymes--but I'm not 100% sure. They also can help you lose weight because your thyroid, which controls your metabolism, uses iodine. I also tested "normal" on my thyroid test, but I don't believe it because my food journal tells me that anything that blocks iodine causes me to gain weight. These iodine blockers are called goitrogens. Soy, apple cider vinegar, mustard, cabbage (raw, and also cooked) all cause me to gain weight. Oddly enough, peanut butter does not. Also, selenium helps your thyroid, but make sure it is yeast-free. Cheap, yeast-based selenium caused me to get ovarian cysts, and they went away when I stopped taking it. Caution with the iodine: It will make Wilson's Syndrome worse. Check your body temp. Mine is always in the 96s and 97s and never gets up to 98 degrees. This is Wilson's syndrome, and too much iodine will make it worse. I am unable to lose weight and am cold all the time, and haven't been able to find a way to get better. I plan on getting a doctor's appointment and begging for prescription T-3, which is the thyroid hormone I am obviously not making. Also, I have been taking 1200 IUs daily of vit D3. Dr. Oz said on Oprah, that it heals the thyroid. Temp up, but also weight going up too. I get on the scales every morning and just curse, because nothing is keeping my weight from going up.

As of March 27th, 2010, I have lost twelve pounds and, although it has been gradual, I seem to be shedding the fat at a steady pace, and I believe that is the best way to do it. I have always been a somewhat healthy eater with a few (a lot of) temptations here and there, but I think I was just eating too much of all that "healthy" stuff! I now believe I have my eating under control and I owe it all to self - help "Hypnotherepy" (and of course, your website!).
I purchased a self-hypnosis book and audio CD online and it has been worth every penny! There were so many to chose from. I bought a couple before I actually found one that really worked and spoke just to me. Not only do I now have my weight under control, I am more at peace and life is truly worth living every day.I now eat to live instead of living to eat! And...all my sweet cravings went away. I now drink only pure, clean water (nothing else - I don't even want or crave anything else!). No cakes, cookies, candies, white sugars, white breads, etc. All those cravings are NOW completely gone. I don't have the desire for any of that stuff and this therepy has really helped in that respect. it took a couple weeks of listening to the audio CD daily until it kicked in and I finally "Got It" so if you decide to take this approach, give it a couple weeks to sink in.... ...It doesn't just happen in one session...
It is a form of brainwashing but I believe it's a good kind of brainwashing. You definately have to be open to this kind of therepy as well, going into it with a positive mind, knowing that it will be working for you. No negativity whatsoever! You can only get out of it, what you put into it.
My hypnotherepy session begins every morning before I get out of bed with a half hour tape session (using headphones). I do breathing exercises (kinda like yoga) along with it and during the whole session I am repeating positive affirmations. Stuff like... I am in complete control of my eating habits", "I deserve to be fit and healthy"...."My self esteem grows stronger and stronger every day", "I remain a healthy eater forever", "I deserve to be fit and healthy", etc. It also offers some imagery sessions to so you can focus on what you WANT to look like when you accomplish your ideal weight.
I am now strong believer (and a witness), that if you tell yourself positive things every day, you begin to believe them more and more. I think all of us need positive feeback constantly, to remind us how wonderful we really are as human beings, and what our capabilities are.. in order for us to function to our full capacity! I am now filling up my mind, my body and my soul, not to mention my tummy, with healthy words of encouragement, and really believing them... and the weight is coming off... Not only do we have to get rid of the junk food that we have put into our bellies, but we have to get rid of all the junk that has been fed into our minds throughout our lifetime, by beginning to replace it with healthy, positive thoughts. As of today, I am so full of energy.....so full of life..... .... and so full of.... H20! (Smiling as I take a sip).... Soooooo... Happy dieting. Happy living. I hope you find that which what works for you! Take care. Janie

Just be careful if you are on high blood pressure medicine, DO NOT eat or drink grapefruit. It interacts with the medicine. I did about a year ago and it dropped my blood pressure so low I passed out and ended up in the ER.

I've been taking 2 tablespoons of raw organic apple cider vinegar diluted in 8oz of water and sweetened with 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey at night before bed. I'll be honest, I was extremely skeptical when I started this one week ago along with exercise and healthy eating. I've lost 8lbs and 2 inches from my waist in only 1 week!! I am amazed at the results. I've NEVER lost weight this quickly using diet and exercise alone. I'm now a believer in ACV. My skin is glowing and my energy levels are thru the roof! No more bloating and I just have an overall sense of well-being. Try it! It works!!

i think your weight gain and fat % was mostly do to the salt content of the food. loosing the salt after it enters your body usually takes 10 days.
Master Cleanses

I'm currently doing the 'Clean' cleanse by Alejandro Junger. He advocats liquid meals for breakfast and dinner, and solid food (no sauces or anything though - for example today I'm having salmon grilled with VCO, sauteed broccoli rabe and arugula salad). I'm enjoying it, and feeling really great - and it's easy to maintain because you do eat some real food. The rational for having a liquid meal at night (a blended raw soup - last night was zuchinni, celery, basil, avocado and a little olive oil and sea salt) is that if you leave at least 12 hour window for digestion the body kicks into detox mode - which is why the last meal is very light. SO! I'm sure you could master cleanse and eat a little too - so long as you follow clean eating guidelines - it might just take a little longer.

I was eager to start the Master Cleanse (recipe I used to follow) after doing much research. However, a question arises: is it okay to replace a meal or two with the Master Cleanse instead of doing ONLY the Master Cleanse throughout the day? For example, I did the Master Cleanse drink for breakfast and lunch, but by mid/late afternoon I was ravenous (but not shaky or irritable) so I ate some protein. For dinner I ate a large salad with a lean protein. I'm on the 3rd day of doing this protocol and I'm curious what others think. Thanks in advance!
RECIPE:
10 oz steam-distilled water
2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
1 tbsp BSM
1/10 cayenne powder
1 tbsp raw ACV
1 tbsp raw honey
pinch of borax
dash of ginger
dash of (real) cinnamon

I was reading about the honey and cinnamon weight loss tricks and other weight loss methods and I was wondering if honey with tea helped at all?

Re: Plant oils
I am reading fast so do not know what all has gone before but glorifying our ancient past always gets my attention. I cannot actually speak for them but would think if ancient man had access to vegetable oils they would have used them.
Also they did not live as long as we do.
There is thought that prehistoric peoples ate very little meat and survived on plants as their main choice simply because they did not have the expertise to get animals and when they ate meat it usually was an animal kill which they chased the predator away and had the meat for themselves. A pretty picture thinking of them diving in grabbing something and gnawing away.
Now I expect an onslaught of non-vegetarian replies so the coward that I am I'm going to wait a few days before looking at your site again. :)

Excellent article about how corporations are actually running the US government (and through cascade effect, the rest of the world). It has been decades since these companies, with their fake paid-for studies and government sponsorship, are still convincing people to walk away from a diet that their ancestors handled quite well for thousand of years. The result is a sick, fat, and depressed society, full of health problems, and addicted to what these companies are massively producing in order to increase profit.
Wake up people. This is not the only massive case of deceit going on... Use your own observational skills and don't trust mass media. You will be surprised at what you find out.

Oils are necessary for the integrity of cell walls, supposedly. High quality oils. Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, expeller pressed UN-refined coconut oil, fish/flax/borage oil, hemp oil, sessame oil, evening primrose oil. Somewhere I heard that vinegar is really an oil. Don't eat processed, hydrogenated, heated/cooked oils. Organic, raw, unrefined, unheated, etc. Warming them is probably ok.

Hi Peter...I simply don't use any vegetable oils(polyunsaturates) anymore and haven't used even olive oil. I do this for two reasons. First the majority of all the ordinary, mass produced vegetable oils you mentioned will be chemically processed -- with chemicals like hexane, strong acids and strong alkalis -- and most are heated to high temperatures and then are deodorized with even more chemicals.
The same goes for ALL margarines. Most margarines are made from vegetable oils -- which are always liquid at room temperature. So the chemical process involved with margarines must also involve adding impurities to make it hard at room temperature. There are always trans fats in margarines because of its processing. Margarines are also much easier to produce than butter, the chemical process is quicker, therefore more profit. I've always prefered natural butter.
Secondly, even if you do buy a so-called organic vegetable oil, how long has it been out in the open in the sun undergoing oxidation? But saturated fats -- being saturated fats -- means that you they last much longer without oxidation and you can also use them to cook at higher temperatures safely.
Perhaps the best way is to show you a fairly long article by Mary Enig, Phd -- a renowned and honest nutritional expert, researcher and vegetable oil contrarian -- that explains many of the factors why and how people's opinions were turned against the use of saturated fats to using vegetable oils. Here is the article:
The Oiling of America
And my opinion of canola oil -- better known as mass-produced rapeseed oil -- is very low indeed. I see little or no difference between growing Genetically Modified Crops and producing Chemically Modified vegetable oils. Both are man-made for profit only, and both are unnatural for the body.

Hi Ted
I am interested in what vegetable oils we should avoid when cooking and adding to raw salads????
I consume olive oil over vegetables and cook with it on a daily basis. I also take flaxseed oil every morning on my breakfast......I always believed that these were the good oils.......????? Now I'm not too sure.
I have read many of your emails suggesting to avoid vegetable oils.....can you please forgive my ignorance on this Ted and enlighten me as to which vegetable oils you are referring and why they should be avoided.
I value your input Ted and have been greatly educated via your informative postings!! Most of all you have a knack to explain things in simple terms so that lay people like myself can actually understand your explanations!!
Many thanks ANDY

To: Bill from San Fernando,
Need your expertise. I know Ted wants to avoid using vegetable oil for cooking. Is peanut oil, olive oil or canola oil considers vegetable oil? Thanks!
