Ibuprofen (motrin and advil) causes gastritis not acid reflux. Gastritis is an acute irritation of the stomach lining. After a few weeks of Ibuprofen, Kona Coffee and pineapple, plus a few too many Mai Tai's, I could barely eat anything without extreme stomach pain.

It can take weeks to months for your stomach to recover. I spent three weeks eating nothing but microwave oatmeal, boiling it still upset my stomach for some reason. Aciphex (a PPI) didn't seem to help, but Tums and Mylanta did. Had to give up coffee and beer for 6 months too. But eventually I got back to my normal iron stomach.

Just commit to changing your diet for a month or so and you'll see an improvement.
