Original start was left eye... Lid, underneath... Diagnosed with eczema. Later research said can go to cellulitus, which can get serious, as if the ezcema and allergic flare ups were not bad enough. Later it was both legs, both hips, buttocks, forearms, left inner elbow... Unusable, would tear if I straightened it. Area as big as all my fingers put together. Finally at 2am on Friday night... Saw cellulitis spreading... From hips up to under arms, especially right side. Checked to see when urgent care opened next am.
They gave me two shots... Benedryl and a cortisone. Nose swab for staph, ie cellulitis, 3 days for results, pending Scripts for anti itch atarax, ranradine to keep stomach calm and to ensure drugs stay down, Clindamycin 300 mg every 8 hours. Here was a big miss by other docs... They didn't hit me with antitbiotics at all, or when they did, not hard enough.. ie only 12 hours, now I set alarm and take one during night... Never miss too much with the timing of your antibiotics. HUGE natural help...
Stopped all fish oil, no flax etc. Instead started on 2 plus tablespoons of EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil, make sure some is before bed. My research... Extra virgin has phenols and nitric oxide no. This stopped my flare-ups in their tracks and I was able to sleep comfortably, nightime dose of antibiotics aside. Other benefits... Before flare up my body would start revving up... like a profuse pounding pulse, building, sometimes bp would go up, wold wake me up rather suddenly.... Then the flare up... intense bursts of itch, burn, resulting in skin losing good attractive fat around upper chest, shoulders, locked into not moving head from side to side, or bending left elbow. All this stopped in its tracks after eating two tablespoons... This is your bigger measuring spoon, plus I was even getting profuse pain around heart and this stopped. All stopped dead cold in its tracks. Fast too, difference in hours to max of two days.
Keeping it going though. Eating it straight for now, awful, but will incorporate into soups, bread, meat marinade as I get time to. Look it up.. Cannot eat bread right now anyway, eating like a caveman, fruit, meat, no fried no breaded, vegetables, egg and chocolate are ok. Added potato back in tonight, ok. Rice is now ok too. Allergist got me off topical steriods which were only thinning skin and causing rebound effect. Gave me list of two product lines... Vani and free and clear. The skin LOVES vaniclear OINMENT. I cover it with that, then the vaniclear lotion which allows the ointment to stay in place longer. Had to dilute hydrogen peroxide with water to clean areas. Oldly but goody, right at grocery. Use free and clear shampoo, good, but use olive oil mister on my very long hair, on off days, every other wash. Allergy tests showed issues with some product ingedients of commerical shampoo and rinse.. But not hair color, dark blonde. Ditto nickel, bactrim topicals, carba mix, mdgn and all derivatives there of... Reactions.
I will never take fish oil or flax or tons of the POLYunstaurates again. The olive oil has the proper mix of mono to polyunsaturates. Also huge well documented research on reducing imflammation, anti oxidant (think anti rust), relaxes miles and miles of blood vessels via the nitric oxide... Anyone familiar with nitroglycerin tablets for unrelenting chest pain? Same idea except natural, can take your dose your timing, your comfort level on the extrz virgin olive oil. The extra virgin is the first press of the olive, therefore with the bigger part of the real nutrition... The phenols and nitric oxide... See wikepedia, etc. NO named moecule of the year in 1992. Also studies show anti cancer benefits. So knock out you flare ups and put off cadiovascular issues and reduce risk of cancer. I highly recommend extra virgin olive oil. It has kept the nightime flare ups... And remember we burn fat at night because we are not eating. Also keeping daytime flare ups stopped dead.... As I take the other of the two tablespoons during the day. Able to cut back nibbling alot, actually lost a bit of weight. 150 pound female in 50s, so adjust your dose accordingly.
Apple Cider Vinegar, Fish Oil

I began noticing that I was getting very reactive to foods that I normally had never had a problem with. I did my research and learned that oral birth control pills upset the flora/fauna of our intestines which makes it ripe for candida albicans to overgrow especially if you aren't on a probiotic. Fast forward to trying different remedies... I am a food lover and was so distraught at the severe restrictions of the candida diet that I tried various herbal formulas and probiotics to avoid having to thoroughly change my diet. I believe in herbs and eating healthy but my body seemed to over react to everything I put in my mouth. Eventually, I was hopeless thinking my severly damaged skin would never heal as it got to the stage of lichenification.
I had read during my research that eczema sufferers tend to have in common a severe deficiency of essential fatty acids and I also knew that disease thrives in an acidic body environment. If you properly alkalize your body, disease retreats. If you are deficient in a mineral or fatty acid then supplement with it. I had tried both of these in the beginning but I didn't stay the course with either of them.
Fast forward to today... I have been taking fish oil 10-14 capsules per day and 2-3 TBSP of unpasteurized ACV with the 'mother' in it mixed in 8 ounces of water per day. I unbelievably have not had to severly restrict my diet. I even can eat some sweets. My eczema that I have been so hopelessly suffering from is now 90% healed!! I have pictures! I am increasing the ACV and fish oil to see how soon I can finish healing that last 10%. I cannot tell you how blessed I feel!! I hope that those of you who are suffering from this infuriating disease can find some hope in my story! My heart goes out to you! Know that you too can heal!!!
Activated Charcoal
Activated Charcoal
Anyways, I have been unable to sleep through the night or even function normally for months, I got another rash on my hand and decided to take some of the poultice I made for my Husbands tooth and put it on my new rash. I left it on for a few minutes and washed it off, which proved to be the most frustrating part of this cure!
A few days later (which brings me to today) I ended up itching severely on my lowers legs, this has been my area of most irritation, I popped open two capsules and mixed them with organic coconut oil and applied it to the most painful areas. WARNING; this stuff will stain everything: skin, clothes, tubs I mean EVERYTHING! I ran a bath as I allowed to stuff to sink in, grabbed a book (after washing my hands a million times) and got into the tub. I stayed in for about 20-30 minutes after which I proceeded to wash my skin over and over and over with an organic all natural bar of soap and a clean washcloth (I wash all my laundry with a solution of borax, grated and diluted organic lavender bar-soap and a few drops of lemongrass essential oil, this has helped allot with my skin irritation and allergies) My skin was a dingy grey after wards and so I drained my black rimmed tub and showered, again washing my skin thoroughly but not too much as to irritate my skin again, then I washed out my tub, dried off with a fresh towel and relaxed for a few minutes (this I found to be highly important in stress management, which contributes to eczema).
My skin never felt better and I actually had some energy. I still have black lines and dingy skin but I really don't care, it will wash off the next shower I have. I have also decided to take one charcoal tablet a day to help with the IBS I frequently experience and know that it contributes to low immune function and the plethora of health issues I have faced since I was about 10.
Anyone with severe skin issues I highly recommend a healthy non-gmo diet, elimination of industrial chemicals in household products, elimination of fluoride and as odd as it seems placed in this list: Inner Child therapy (I find the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh the best, he treats the body, mind and world as a whole) Most of these immune issues stem from severe stress and trauma experienced during childhood, things we didn't and still have not faced that resurface as health problems.
Recipe for skin poultice:
- 2 caps activated charcoal Aprox. 1 Tbls
- equal amount of Organic Coconut Oil
- Mix together and apply for at least 30 minutes.
Like others have stated you may experience a urine-like smell and this indicates that it is working (not sure why, will have to look into that) First time I did this I smelled urine, very strongly in the tub until I washed the charcoal from myself and the tub, its gross and quite pungent, perhaps this is the toxins that are drawn out? If anyone has information on this mechanism please reply with your info!
An FYI in case anyone is interested, I have tried the prescription meds since I was very young, every other home remedy on this site as well as other but nothing has provided the immediate relief I experienced from the charcoal poultice. The itching, burning, swelling, redness, and small pimple-like lesions have disappeared all that is left of it is the scabs where I have scratched so much I opened the lesions.
Please drink plenty of fluoride free (if possible) water after ingesting or applying charcoal as it dehydrates the body.

Oolong Tea
★☆☆☆☆
I drank it strong - steeped for 5 minutes, as suggested. And the redness/oiliness got progressively worse over several days. I think I had to stop on the 5th day because of the redness and greasiness of my facial skin.
I don't have this response to green tea, which I drink daily, and also take as a powder stirred into hot water. Both are Camellia sinensis. So it is clearly something unique about the double (or is it triple?) fermentation of Oolong.
Don't let it put you off trying it. It's a very healthful tea. I'm just sharing that it caused me problems with the skin on my face.
Colloidal Silver
★★★★★
Back to eczema, I know of two people whose eczema got significally improved with Colloidal Silver. The first one was a little girls whose arms were badly infected with it constatly itchy and red. When the mother finally decided to give it to her, it disappered completely and as far as I know no longer has that problem as I see her from time to time and has no visible eczema. Second person is my husband who has a small spot on the back of the shoulders and soon after appered an ongoing weeping spot on the ear.
Neither of us knew what this ongoing bleeding on the ear was caused by. My husband din't even make the time to go to the doctor, so finally after trying several things on this constant scab such as oxigen peroxide, iodine which didn't help. I suggested colloidal silver to which I am very familiar with and have taken for several years to control the Rickettsia virus.
After less than a month and with inconsistency of use (my husband is difficult when it comes to taking care of himself) his eczema stopped bleeding and the scab is gone. The other red patch of eczema is clearing up in colour slowly, but definitely not itchy at all.
Regards to you all!
My point is that it seems to take quite a long time before you build up your reserves. And I eat loads of nuts and seeds and salad oil and coconut oil (for cooking) - so I was getting a lot in my diet. However, the small amount (2 tsp a day) is more effective than the several Tbsps of oil I am eating in my diet.
The oils I use have been trial and error. I think it wouldn't be the same for you because you may be low in a different fatty acid/s to me. The important thing to stress is not to apply half a cup (ha! ) of oil to your skin. But to do small amounts (maybe half a tsp), several times a day. I think our bodies can better process it... Since we don't seem to fare well with oil metabolism... and it's less of a shock.
My suggestion to you is to perhaps start with hemp seed oil - because it has a good ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. I have a recipe for making a handcream - if you don't like the idea of rubbing oil on your hands/inner thigh/forearms/chest. It uses oil, water, emulsifying wax - and is easy to make. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
Multiple Remedies
Multiple Remedies
As per the dermatologist, I've been using a steroid cream that seemed to help minimize itchiness and redness, and sores for 2 or 3 days, then seemed to be minimally effective. I also have been applying an Ave' moisturizer containing oat essence, dimethicone and shea butter, which seems to help relieve itchiness.
As per my alternative caregiver, I am taking among other things, molybdenum to neutralize acetaldehyde (the main toxin of the yeast die-off). I just started to also take NAC (N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine), as well as the nettle herb, and plenty of vit. C, all to help clean-out the toxins. With all that I've been doing, progress is still excrusiatingly slow. Any further advice that you or others can extend would, of course, be greatly appreciated. - Larry

I have tried zinc, supplements, no soap, juicing, modifying my diet, reading numerous websites on how to cure eczema. Just like a maniac and surfing sites late at night, wanting to get this eczema gone.
What worked for me was -
1. Stop the steroids creams that were given to me for easing the eczema - I discovered if I stopped using it, the eczema would come back after some time, but it came back worse. And my skin after using steroid creams, had an addiction to the cream, if I stopped using it, my skin would go crazy, and more eczema patches. I had to stop relying on it, you may wish to read more on steroid addiction for eczema.
2. Modify my diet - If you have been a maniac like me reading on site, you would have seen eating healthier food. I cut out dairy, wheat, processed food, and food with colours, addictives. I ate mainly natural cooked food, with good fat to moisturise from within. E. G. salmon
3. Vaccuum my room and bed - I vaccummed daily to prevent myself from getting paranoid about dust or bed. It worked in getting a nicer sleep though I still woke up late at night due to the itching.
4. Moisturise, moisturise
When I stopped the steroid creams or prescribed ointments, my skin grew worse as it was addicted to it. It's like going through cold turkey. It was way hard, but its worth it, seeing the result. The patches grew larger, I had a swollen foot, itching at night continuously (itching is when your skin is trying to expel the bad stuff, healing from inside). I cried, I prayed, frustrated about everything. It took roughly about 6 months for me to see something different. I could sleep better, the oozing decreased and stopped entirely, the patches grew smaller and it disapperead entirely.
Now, I don't have eczema all over my body in random spots or patches. I had two big patches near my ankles, and behind my legs, plus random spots all over. All is gone unless I eat something bad or if skin is too dry.
Its not easy to go through this, it would be good for anyone going through this to have emotional support like a forum. I believe there is one for steroid addiction which causes eczema, you have to search it. :)
Hope this infomation is useful. Do note that the skin will experience flares up now and then as it heals, but slowly with time, it will lessen. It may seem you have healed entirely, but if there's a flare up again, dont be dismal, for it will heal again but in a lesser time frame.
All the best!
Well, now I am married... I have not had a problem with it for the past 3 years, and I have found that it has been flaring up and down all year. It is currently going full bore with no end in sight and I fear it will only get worse if I don't figure out how to nip it in the bud without getting a full blown divorce! I think it's time I figure it out so that I don't end up alone with my clear complexion. Afterall, the one thing all the men of my past have in common is me and my eczema! I dont' think they need be taking the blame.
Anyway, I wanted to report something that is working [that does not include divorce]... It may be the combination of all the things I am doing, but I actually believe that _____ [a supplement that generates collagen and contains silicon and choline] is contributing the most for some reason. Anyhow, here is my remedy:
About a week ago I started on 5 drops B___ 2x per day with juice. about 3 days ago, started drinking Raw unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar, 2TBSP 2-3 times daily with water/juice. Make a water/lemon/vinegar mixture that I spray on my face and neck in the morning and at night. Cotton swab with water/vinegar all over my face as a toner, follow with Squalane Oil before it dries. Take an expensive probiotic once a day. Eat a LOT of dried figs [i don't know why I think they help? maybe]. Drink a raw unpasturized local Kombucha drink once or twice per day.
About 3 days ago my eyes were red, weeping and watering constantly. I looked like I had severe allergies or was crying all day when I had not been. My eyes were swollen upon weaking, and reddish and blotchy. This went on for the next two days... However, I have noticed that upon waking in the morning, the skin on my forehead and around my eyes is looking less and less wrinkly and more smooth and supple. Especially today and this afternoon. The skin around my eyes went from being very taught and dry and irritated to being smooth[ish] and flexible. Maybe it is just a good day, but I don't think so. I really think this B___ is making the skin less wrinkly and smoother. It may also be the ACV and Kombucha helping out, but I cannot believe that it would have such a quick effect. Either way... Try it out! Even if you do not have eczema, taking [the silicon supplement] and ACV and using a lemon/vinegar/water spritz on the skin followed with squalane oil really makes it soft at supple without being greasy or heavy. I have NOT stopped wearing make up either. I use a light foundation powder and blush over the parts of my face that are not affected by eczema, then I dab on the powder with some squa oil on my eyelids to help cover and redness so I don't look and feel so horrid. I then carefully put on any old mascara. I take make up off with the squa oil and a cloth and some water as well. It is very gentle. I know some people us coconut oil and say that works for them, but it never did anything for my eczema. I put only coconut oil on my skin for half a year and just watched my skin get worse day by day. Anyway, if it clears more and more, I will let you know!
Kefir

I have been using 1/3 Apple Cider Vinegar and 2/3 water 2-3 times daily soaking the eczema area in this with a cotton swab. It has been slowly drying up and since my skin is getting used to the ACV I increased the concentration each subsequent day starting from 1/3 Apple Cider Vinegar and 2/3 water then 1/2 Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/2 water and then today 2/3 Apple Cider Vinegar 1/3 water however as I said the eczema has been slow to dry up.
The day before yesterday, in the evening I saw on this website diamatameceous earth listed as a cure and since I had some lying round I just put some of the powder on my eczema and it really dried it up so much and the redness really diminshed after one application for two hours.
I find getting water on my face is a big no-no when I have eczema especially not on the eczema patch, it makes it worse!!
So I have learnt to not get my face wet at all in the shower (where the eczema is), what I do is not use soap and water like I normally do, instead I clean the normal skin with lotion (cream-based) and toner (rosewater, Apple Cider Vinegar with water or other) and then just cleaned the eczema skin with the 2/3 Apple Cider Vinegar to 1/3 water solution.
Yesterday in the morning I waited for that to dry off then dusted more diatamaceous earth on the eczema sores.
I repeated the same no water washing and acv/water topical treatment again in the evening before I went to bed and then put diatamaceous earth on the sores and this morning I am really surprised by the improvement. Diatamaceous earth added to the Apple Cider Vinegar treatment really speeds up the recovery time impressively! Could some eczema be parasitic or other tiny creatures, I wonder? Since I know diatamaceous earth is used to kill insects in the garden and parasites in the tummy, who knows? Or is the drying effect plus the wealth of minerals the property of this earth, the thing that helps the skin? Whatever the case it really really works so well for eczema I am so relieved to see this huge patch of eczema diminsh and dry up so rapidly!
Cortisone cream is rubbish compared to this ACV diatamaceous earth treatment!
I hope this helps lots of people suffering from this horrible condition and thanks again to earth clinic for allowing us to all help each other!! Best site ever for health ailments!
Another thing I'd like to add which for me are things that help with eczema:
eat a really clean, pure diet, all organic if you can afford it. Eliminate dairy (except occasional goat products), no eggs, no red meat, no gluten and no sugars.
Supplement with vitamin D (4000iu at least), the best source is pure sunshine, I never have eczema in the summer! During the winter try to find a UVB safe tanning bed if you get eczema, it will also dry it out. Lots of people say tanning is bad and maybe it does dry out the skin but I would rather run the risk of having one more wrinkle than having a huge patch of eczema permanently across my face!
It really really helps my eczema no end and I think vit D deficiency is to blame for many ailments. The sun has been scapegoated for so many things but if you do scientific research, so much depression, MS, skin ailments are actually caused by a lack of vitamin D and although you can take tablets, the bodies' best way of absorbing it is through external exposure.
As long as you are sensible with it and only take what you need medicinally and when you need it, you can safely absorb vitamin D. Interesting when you consider the fact that people living in the North of Europe have much more MS than those in the south due to lack of sunlight.
I always feel better and look better during the summer when I get my fix of sunshine.
Do not use water or soap to wash the eczema infested area. Do not get it wet. Only clean it with Apple Cider Vinegar and water. If you can try to not wet the whole part of the body where the eczema is occurring, clean with lotion and toner or some organic wipes.
Be well!

i cant put any oils on, no help. WITCH HAZEL helps curtail itching when it starts, so I periodically throughout the day slap on some witch hazel. good luck everyone, I know it's frustrating! :)
