Fenugreek for Diabetes Type ii.

Fenugreek, scientifically known as Trigonella foenum-graecum, is not just a staple spice in many cuisines but also a medicinal herb with roots dating back to ancient times. Over recent years, the use of fenugreek for diabetes, particularly Type II diabetes, has gained significant attention.

In this article, we'll dive into how fenugreek might assist in diabetes management, the recommended dosages, and other pivotal information.

Benefits of Fenugreek for Type II Diabetes

  1. Blood Sugar Regulation: One of the primary ways fenugreek aids diabetes management is by facilitating blood sugar control. Several studies suggest that consuming fenugreek seeds can lead to a reduction in blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
  2. Improvement of Insulin Sensitivity: The presence of an amino acid called 4-hydroxyisoleucine in fenugreek is believed to stimulate insulin secretion, improving insulin sensitivity and ensuring better glucose uptake by cells.
  3. Soluble Fiber Content: Fenugreek is rich in soluble fiber, which can help slow down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. This gradual process reduces the sudden spikes in blood sugar post meals, promoting stable blood sugar levels.

Recommended Dosages for Type II Diabetes

While there is no universally agreed-upon dosage of fenugreek for diabetes management, based on various studies, the following recommendations can be considered:

  • Seed Powder: 5 to 30 grams daily, split into two doses before meals.
  • Seed Extract: 1 gram per day, typically available in capsule form.
  • Fenugreek Tea: One cup of tea made by steeping one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in hot water.

Other Important Information

  1. Potential Side Effects: While fenugreek is generally considered safe for most people, it can cause gastrointestinal discomfort, such as diarrhea or stomach upset. It's essential to start with a smaller dose and adjust based on your body's reaction.
  2. Drug Interactions: People taking antidiabetic drugs should be cautious as fenugreek might potentiate the effect of these medications, leading to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Always inform your healthcare provider if you're considering adding fenugreek to your regimen.
  3. Not a Substitute: While fenugreek may offer benefits in managing blood sugar levels, it should not replace the primary medications prescribed for diabetes. It's best used as a complementary approach.

Conclusion

Fenugreek offers promising potential in the management of Type II diabetes. Its ability to regulate blood sugar, enhance insulin sensitivity, and its rich fiber content make it a valuable tool. However, like with any supplemental approach, it's essential to use it judiciously, under the guidance of a healthcare professional, to harness its benefits while ensuring safety.

Fenugreek seeds to control and possibly reverse Diabetes

My Health background: I take Metformin 500mg twice a day for Diabetes, I take heart medicine after a Cardiac Arrest due to a choked artery in April 2022, I take ACV for controlling Uric Acid along with anti-inflammation medicine Cholchicine 0.6 mg twice a day. Age 65 yrs old.

Improvement in Diabetes discovered by accident:

Before starting this alternate treatment, my morning fasting sugar reading was 125-130mg/dL for the last 3 1/2 years. Started taking Fenugreek seeds 1 teaspoon soaked in water equivalent to 1 glass of water put in a regular basic clay container/cup/jar for 24 hour (If prefer to keep it for 48 hours before consuming. I found it to be more effective) . This quantity I take just before each meal( that is 3 times a day). I bought my clay container from a Pakistani Halal grocery store here in the USA. The way I consume is to drink the water which will have a golden color. Then chew the seeds and chase it with some regular water. The taste is like eating celery (like raw vegetable with a slight bitter taste).

Diabetes morning fasting 1st week came down to 103mg/dL. 2nd week 95mg/dL.

I am in my 2nd week now. After 2 hours of consuming afternoon meals, it has dropped from a range of 180-200mg/dL to 140-150mg/dL after consuming fenugreek seeds. This is only taking Fenugreek seeds and no medicine (metformin).

By the way, I have added about a pinch of Black seeds in my Fenugreek seeds drink for overall health. I hope this info is helpful.

Hello, thanks for sharing.

Do you drink 1 whole glass of water before each meal? So it means you soak 3 glasses of water in your clay pot? Looking forward to your answer. 🙏🙏🙏

I take 1 whole glass of water before meal using Fenugreek seeds (Methi Dana). In addition I would like to mention that I am taking 4 TBSP of Apple Cider Vinegar 3 times a day in a full glass of water (add 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey) for my Uric Acid (gout) reduction. and drinking garlic/ginger tea. These things also are contributing in improving my diabetes reading. Blood pressure, Uric Acid and Cholesterol are all interrelated. I hope this info helps.

Further Update:

When I feel like deviating from your control diet once in a while by eating food that can cause the diabetes sugar to jump. Then I take 2 teaspoon of Fenugreek seeds in one glass of water 3 times a day using the above mentioned procedure. This approach can also be used for individuals who have very high diabetic sugar levels. Keep in mind you can take Fenugreek seeds/drink as many times in the day you want. Just balance the intake of this with your diabetic sugar levels. Chewing of the seeds for 1 to 2 minutes is very important. The light bitter liquid that comes out of the seeds should remain in your mouth, acting as a sublingual medicine for quick absorption in your bloodstream. This has been my experience.

Soak 3 teaspoons of Fenugreek Seeds in 3 glasses of water for 24 hours. Then consume each glass of this water with 1 teaspoon before meal. Important thing to note is to chew the seeds for at least 1 minute in your mouth while holding the slight bitter fluid that comes out of the seeds. After about 1 minute swallow these seeds with regular water. Update: my morning fast readings vary between 81 mg/dl to 95 mg/dl (average around 90 mg/dl) And this is without any diabetic medication.

My diet includes stir fried chicken with vegetables, fruit, salad, egg and I take food 3 times a day. For example I will take 2 eggs omelet or boiled eggs in the morning with fruit. In the afternoon I can take stir fried chicken with stir fried vegetables. At night I can take stir fried meat with salad. Just mix and match but don't overdo in your eating. Quantity has to be reasonable. For oil I use olive oil/Alva cardo oil. Also when I want to deviate from this food only once in a while that is consuming high carbohydrate food including sweet desert, then I take 2 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds soaked in 1 glass of water before meal. My diabetes does not vary much. When you deviate in your food check your blood sugar before and after such meal. This will show you how much can you deviate for next time. I don't encourage this and not responsible for anything. I am only mentioning what I practice.

Fenugreek seeds control absorption of carbohydrate into the blood stream based on my research and experience.

A really good cure against Diabetes Typ 2 is ... Trigonella foenum-graecum or fenugreek. I'm using it since 1 month and helps to increase my pancreas beta cells succesfully, it really cures diabetes but slowly .....it has so much positive effects on your insulin levels, every diabetic should use it as a cure for reversing his diabetes ......... a german website is writing his advantages with many effects on diabetes, youll need to translate it into english for understanding (the appendix sources are in english)

Fenugreek seeds, soaked in a little water and left to sprout are wonderful and I would not want to be without them. I take a good teasp. of seeds and have two more lots in wait for the next days. These seeds are very nutritious and in my case, I do find the taste agreeable. Take and chew well before having a meal, say one half hour before. These seeds are available in Indian groceries as well in healthfood stores. They bring the blood sugar down. In adition I use ACV, two teasp. in a tall glass of warm water with a teasp. honey to sip during the day.

I am taking to using smoothies and juicing. However, I find a homemade vegetarian soup helps to keep the wolves (hunger) at bay.

I have had a very scary experience with europaean cheese of the B. and C. type. A little while after having it on rye bread there rose from the liver region a very extremely hot and concentrated energy in about five pathways right to my breast and dissipated there. The power was like electricity and very hot. NOW I know! It must be the extremely high amount of hormones in the poor cows that cause breast cancer. Even though here in Canada, the growth hormones are illegal but a farmer told me they go across the border and obtain it for their cattle.

I never thought I would become vegan but now I am on the way. I use sometimes whey powder, buttermilk heavily diluted and until recently goat milk. But I am on the way out. I am now on Essiac to ward off the likelyhood of breast cancer, etc. I do Essiac periodically to detox. My big dog has a growth on her haunch but the Essiac tea seems to work. She is detoxing and the tumour seems to shrink - a bit too soon to tell.

People, wake up and smell the (imitation) coffee . We are being poisoned. The planet is being poisoned. We are empowered by mutual help and education. Go for it.

By the way, dandelions are extremely good for detoxing and new energy. A six week cure of using the entire plant in tea is very good also for kidney and diabetes. Even my poor cats who have to eat synthetic vits. Slurp the tea in their food with relish. All the best to you and God bless. Om.

Being an Alternative Healer in this part of the world (middle east), I would like to share with you two kinds of food that really does wonder for Diabetes 1 and 2.

1) Thermos seeds - raw. They are as hard as stone but you can and should grind and take 1 small spoon daily for a month, then take a 2 weeks break. You can add them to soups, shakes, and just about anything, but my advise add them to something small so you can eat it quickly as it is bitter

2)Fenugreek seeds, whether taken as tea form, as boiled and eaten with vegetables, they are also a god send for diabetic people, and help treat dozens of diseases. very rich in B vitamins and minerals.

3) Cinnamon.

Best Regards, Frank

Fenugreek's leafy form belongs to the spinach family. However, its seeds are useful when cooking to combat the flatulence caused by certain foods, such as lentils and cauliflower. Its anti-viral properties mean it also helps against sore throat and mouth ulcers. Historically, fenugreek has been used to treat diabetes and is now thought to reduce blood pressure.
