Molasses (black strap) for joint and throat: arthritic joints and sore throat, plus it's a great energy producer. I would suggest an unsulfered black strap molasses.

Well, it was that time of the month and I had the mother of all headaches. I tried apple cider vinegar in apple juice and it got a little better. 2 hours later I gave up and took a tablespoon of molasses (don't particularly like that stuff). 10 minutes later my headache was completely gone!
Acne

Update: Since experimenting with other possibilities, I find that Aloe Vera works well at night, and Blackstrap Molasses in the morning. Raw Aloe works best. One or two tablespoons should be all you need. A perfect cure!

aahh.... Thank you for that. I recently read how wonderful blackstrap molasses is for you but I noticed that I started breaking out. Wasn't sure if it was or could even be the molasses but that was the only new thing I added to my diet. So I stopped for a couple of days and no breakouts. Had two teaspoons yesterday and today another breakout. I'm 51 and should have acne. So should I just keep with it? And how long should it take before the acne stops?

Cat, never start anything new at a high dosage!!! I started with ONE TEASPOON once a day, and slowly built up to ONE tablespoon. My iron levels are now normal, after being quite anemic.

Black Strap Molasses Side Effects
I have had insomnia for the last 20+ years with increasing severity. 2 nights ago I wrestled with sleep again. My belly felt hard and bloated, giving me racing heart beat, heat and anxiety. I felt constipated. I remembered BSM being a laxative and took 1 Tablespoon without any food and drank 10 oz of water a few minutes afterwards. My bloating went away and eased my belly.
In the morning I took 1 Tbsp. BSM on empty stomach all by itself, than during the day one more Tbsp. and in the evening before bed time 1 Tbsp. BSM all by itself. I woke up this morning, having the best sleep of my life, ever (and I am 72), deep refreshing and vitalizing 10 hour sleep with only 2 trips to the bath room. I could not believe it.
No side effects what so ever so far. I must also say that I have Leaky Gut which makes my body unable to absorb most nutrients. That is probably the reason why I was so mineral deficient. I would give it a try for what ever is ailing you but remember that it has to be ORGANIC, UNSULPHURED Blackstrap Molasses, otherwise you get concentrated doses of Glyphosate and other chemicals into your system.
I will continue using 3 Tbsp. for 3 more days and than slow down to 2 Tbsp./day and eventually to 1 Tbsp. per day. I don't think it will hurt you with that dosage. But try it for yourself and see how your body reacts to it. Good luck to every body.
P.S. Besides of insomnia, I am also trying to heal my leaky gut and rheumatoid arthritis using BSM as a key supplement.

If you're going for the Iron, learn about the long list of foods and other nutrients that either block or impair our uptake of Iron. Even though some foods, like Spinach, are known to be high in it, it is said to not be bioavailable. Learn how there are nutrients that we can take with Iron sources to enable and even triple our uptake. Intake doesn't equal uptake. You could be ingesting iron in vain if you're putting the wrong foods in the same digestive time period, thus blocking your uptake. More study.

Hi all, Mostly here on earth clinic we recommend using Bsm to women who have very heavy periods. Some of these women will be iron deficient due to the extreme blood loss but this is only an added extra of black strap molasses the reason we recommend it is because it slows and stops the flow really quickly if you take atleast 3 large tablespoons with a glass of water each time spread over a day- more if you are heavier than normal. The reason it works is because of the vitamin k in it, the vitamin k helps our blood to clot. Bsm is good because whilst helping people with low iron levels it also helps those with higher levels balance out their values because it contains a balance of minerals and vitamins. It has a lot of potassium in it which helps balance our sodium levels. In Cyril Scott's book on the subject he recounts a huge list of illnesses that have been cured by Bsm - most notably cancerous growths. I appreciate this does not necessarily answer your question but hopefully I have shared some important information on Bsm.

How are you consuming the molasses? I've put a tbsp in distilled water but doesn't taste the greatest.

Anemia

I have been anemic for over 10 years after my last pregnancy. My doctors (I have several within these 10 years) asked me to take OTC iron supplements once a day for life. One of them even called me to go for blood transfusion. Not good at taking direction, I only took the supplement only once in a while when I felt too tired. I also declined the advice for blood transfusion. I thought my iron supply should be enough with the food I eat. Until recently, my latest doctor suggested that may be, just may be I was anemic not because of iron but something else. She sent me for a blood work, testing both the iron level and the genetic condition called "Thalassemia". Sure enough, my anemic condition is not because of iron, but because of Thalassemia. What is more - I am now overloaded with iron 3x the max amount. Luckily I did not religiously taking the supplement, otherwise my liver, heart and spleen would be severely damaged by now. Just thought to share my experience.
Toothaches

I used to get extremely painful toothaches. I remembered my mom telling me once about Blackstrap Molasses being full of nutrients (calcium and magnesium) in large amounts in general. So I thought I'd try it the next time my tooth ache occurred, and within half an hour, my tooth ache was completely gone. When my young daughters had growing pains, I decided to also try this on them: (1 tbsp) followed by any liquid (water , milk, juice, just to wash it down). Her growing pain had stopped. As I had figured these tooth problems and shin aches may have been from a calcium/magnesium deficiency. The pain had left her in under half an hour. I believe from my own research that if the body does not get enough calcium it will leach it from other areas..thus the pain.

my iron levels were dangerously low, my doctor had me taking 40,000mls. a week of procrit and 975mlgs. daily iron supplements. after 2 months of this i had been told that i was going to have to restart my iron treatments again. so instead of putting all those chemicals into my system again, i started drinking a glass of warm milk with 3tblspn of molasses every day. I am happy to report that after 3 weeks of this my iron levels and energy levels have steadily improved.

For approx 20 years I have been taking Blackstrap Molasses - 1 Tablespoon daily in warm water. Sometimes if I need more energy I will take a second Tablespoon. How did I find out about Blackstrap Molasses? I purchased a book many years ago about the positives on the product. Today I am 55 years and do not take any medications from a doctor. The great reason I loved the book was about gray hair. My hair today has very little gray hair compared to other people my age.
P. S. I do also take other natural products along with Blackstrap - so I would not state that Blackstrap is the only reason for good health.

Becky, I never heard that BSM has anything to do with headaches. But I do know that one might get them from trying out a new remedy that one is not too sure of. I guess it's the stress of not knowing what to expect. I'm pretty sure the BSM itself is not causing headaches.

I've read all the posts here. All are interesting. My experience has been different... As a kid I was raised by my grandparents. They were very health-conscious. When we ate meat it was always the most lean, usually skinless chicken white meat. My grandmother grew many of her own greens and vegatables to ensure we had the best, vitamin rich meals possible. Ours was the only house in the neighborhood using Braggs products in the 1960s. My grandfather already used BSM everyday on his grits. At the age of 7, I was introduced to it via my morning breakfast. I've had it nearly every morning since. I'm 53 now. I've had three different cancers, a heart attack, quadruple bypass surgery and five stints in my heart arteries. I've never smoked and always eat well rounded, healthy meals. I have always been nearly 100% vegetarian. I exercise rigorously for at least three hours every day. I realize I am an exception. I like BSM (I've enjoyed the flavor since day one) and it is obviously, health-wise, a far better sweetener than processed sugar or chemical sugar substitute but to say it's a cure-all? I cannot.

If your body is anemic/low in iron this stresses the body to work harder to overcompensate for the lack of iron and the additional stress causes gray hair and other symptoms. When you take the molasses and restore the iron levels in the blood the body is less inflamed and thus, less like to grow gray hair. The molasses probably doesn't do anything for gray hair except restore an anemic body back to normal so normal healthy hair can grow anew.

Hi - just FYI, there is no way that something you consume can change the color of the hair that is already on your head (grown out from your scalp). Hair isn't "alive" in that way; it's like your fingernails. So whatever was affecting your hair color came from an outside application, such as chlorine in water.
I don't know about molasses affecting hair color over time, but I do know that there are herbs that are used in Asia that accomplish this, so I would assume that, if molasses treats an underlying imbalance or nutritional lack, it could produce the same result. It would take some time to see whether it works though.
The growth rate of head hair for most people averages about 1/4" to 1/2" a month. 1/2" a month is considered pretty fast growth, for example. Using that calculation, you'd have to consistently take the molasses and see if you started to notice a difference in hair color after about six months (since the molasses effect might not start working immediately).

wholesome sweeteners, unsulphured black strap molasses brand
BSM has many wonderful benefits. Loaded in minerals and high in potassium. Everything in moderation .... one Tablespoon in the am plus I sprinkle a little baking soda (1/2) tsp or so
Benefits I have noticed is skin, hair and nails are vibrant, increased energy and bone, joint aches are a thing of the past. As far as grey hair reverting back to its original color, it takes time people, about three good months to expect to see grey hairs lessening .... have a little patience :) and remove all processed sugars and google an alkaline/acid food chart, you be in good shape in no time

I've been taking blackstrap molass in my coffee every day for the last 3 weeks and haven't noticed any changes in reversing gray hair. I'll keep at it until the jar finishes and see how that goes.
It provides me with a lot of energy. After a run, i normally get tired but takign 2 teaspoons with a drink, i don't feel the need for a nap. However, the calories in it makes you very fat if you don't work it off and I noticed that it gives me a lot of phlegm when I take it.

I have been anemic all of my life, but it got worse when I my fibroids began to grow. After surgery my iron levels were still very low. My Hct hoovered around 21, the average is 41-53. I decided to try the BSM instead of taking iron pills. My Dr. checked my levels 2 weeks after taking BSM (1 TBSP/day in a cup of coffee or tea). I was still low, but it had increased to 34 instead of 21 which was a norm for me. The Doctor told me to keep doing what I am doing. I do have more energy while take BSM but I do notice that if I skip the weekend doses I begin to feel drained by Monday.

I've been taking black strap Molasses for about 6 months. One thing it's done for me is my fingernails grows fast. I never had pretty nails before now I can grow them. It has to be the Molasses. I've also used Cayenne Pepper daily for about 3 years. Something is keeping me healthy, so I'll keep doing it. Thanks to all of you that take time to post. age 72, feel like 40
