Salt Deficiency
Posted by Cindy (Kansas, Us) on 11/19/2009

Hello again! I've been noticing something lately, regarding minerals in general and salt in particular. I read in the June 2, 2009 newsletter on the watercure2.org website about a woman who emailed a story from when she was a girl. She wrote of problems they had with cattle in. Apparently, the cattle became very sick. The woman writes, "The cow's developed large ankles and were dying from water retention due to heart problems.".

Investigation showed that the only thing that had changed was the salt licks they had put out for the cattle. The new licks were made with processed salt. they returned to the natural salt licks and the problems went away.

I have long felt that taking substances out of their natural context and using them as medicine is very dangerous. In their natural state, as with herbs, specific natural remedies are used for specific problems and parts of the body. Many herbs contain the same or similar substances but react on different parts of the body. As if the herbs contain the proper balance of nutrients with which to tell the body where to apply the herbs properties, in what combinations, how much to use and how to get rid of excess nutrients and resulting toxins.

I also suspect that the combination of elements in their natural state allow the body to get more benefit from very small amounts of nutrients than we can get by taking supplements in large amounts that have been taken out of their natural context.

I've written several times about the watercure and am now wondering if it is the unprocessed sea salt that is working all of the miracles. Granted, we need water, but using unprocessed sea salt after years of bad salt followed by no salt - as directed by physicians when symptoms such as those shown by the cattle present - can and often has worked miracles, often instantaneously.

Just a thought. You can file this under theories. I wrote it after reading:

"[QUESTION] 10/28/2009: Dennis from Seattle, Wa writes: "I'm trying magnesium chloride/distilled water for stiffness and lack of flexibility in legs/hips. Pitting edema is present. Salt is a problem with edema. Do you think the transdermal method with magnesium chloride would not be harmful to aggravation of the edema and still ease the muscle tissue stiffness and tension?"

I suspect Dennis is suffering from salt (and the accompanying minerals in natural salt) deficiency.

Thanks again for your site. It's a miracle in itself! God bless you!

Sea Salt baths have almost cured my eczema in a matter of weeks. Get a good one that has minerals and put about 3/4 cup into the tub. I've also started taking iodine tablets.

Calm and Serene

Lately, having seen microscopic pictures of table salt, sea salt, and himalayan sea salt, I've opted for himalayan sea salt's live crystals, called sole (so-lay) when dissolved in spring water. I'm impressed with my increased vitality since I've been bathing in it (see www.profoundliving.org for benefits including magnesium chloride absorption). I bet it has great antibiotic properties.

Being a yoga teacher I am also advising of the benefits of neti, using himalayan sole, in which you inhale it through one nostril and exhale it through the other.

I do notice increased benefit over regular sea salt, again increased vitality and calmness, a sense of well-being. I guess that steam inhalation would have even more benefits for bronchitis or asthma.

Another benefit I enjoy is less stress from time spent on the computer when I burn a beeswax candle in a himalayan sea salt container, supposedly removing negative ions and electro-magnetic damage. I plan on buying a few lamps in different colors for their color therapy.

I just completed the 10-day Master Cleanse after suffering from arthritis and chronic constipation for the past several months. By day 3 of the cleanse the 2 teaspoons of Sea Salt in 32 oz of Fluoride free water every morning (on an empty stomach) really made a difference. My constipation cleared up, and the arthritis in my lower back, hip, and knees really improved. After reading the posts from all of you I am going to try drinking a 16.4 oz of spring water with 1 teaspoon Sea Salt, and two Tablespoons ACV in it, and see how that works. Ron

I tried the sea salt flush, 32 ounces warm water, two teaspoons uniodized sea salt (I added a dash of lime juice and baking soda) this morning and it is very effective. It's challenging to drink that much water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but it is worth the effort. Will take acidophilus later today with garlic to keep digestive track healthy. Took the day off from work (you probably won't want to go anywhere else, either). Wondering if anyone has tried colon hydrotherapy and the side effects they experienced -- it's pretty expensive and not covered by insurance. Will most likely keep using this remedy as a mini detox about 2-3 times a month on the weekends. Other remedies make work well, but can cause problems when working full time and can't go to the bathroom several times a day.

Arthritis in Dogs

watercure2.org site is right about the salts and curing pet arthritis.

I used Salts to help my GSD dog with her hips. I used Himalayan salt, which I turned into "sole". 1 teaspoon a day right into the food. My GSD dogs LOVE it!!! Within days she was up and running, chasing the ball. No more whining when she gets up or down. The only issue I had with using the salt was the detoxification effect. I paid 50.00$ for flea repellent (NO CHOICE BUT TO USE IT, I have tried EVERYTHING natural to keep the fleas away) To my surprise everyday when I combed the dogs the fleas were still there in large amounts. After a few weeks, I thought OH, I bet the salt is detoxifying the flea chemical out their bodies. I stopped all salt treatment, waited two weeks then bought new flea stuff and Wala! Fleas gone in a few days.

Now I only use the salt as maintenance. In the winter when the fleas are gone, I will be giving them small daily doses of the salt, until flea season comes again.

Congestion

Just want to give you a heads up to say that if you have a dry mouth after increasing your salt intake, it's indicative of a sugar crash. Low sugars cause dry mouth, and increasing salt increases hydration, which leads to low sugars.

High Lead in Celtic Sea Salt

I read a post on Instagram recently about the high lead count in Celtic Sea Salt. It is recommended by most of the Practitioners that I have used. I still use it. It was laboratory tested at 626 ppb and 5 ppb lead in food is unsafe for children. The full lab report for the salt can be found @LeadSafeMama.com. It was tested June 2024. I was hoping someone else had access to a lab and could confirm this report. This is certainly something to look into if you use Celtic Sea Salt!

Sometimes our body are toxic and anything that makes us sick may be from the body trying to cleanse out the toxins, so at first it is better to start slow and increase gradually this usually goes away in a short time.

Ph
Posted by Shaun (Olde York, North Yorkshire) on 10/10/2011

Could Ted, Bill (... Or indeed someone else) please try to explain how refined/ common table salt loses its pH (from 7.5 to 5) when seemingly refined. I am a firm believer in the all-round benefits of pure sea salt, but it seems such a HUGE difference/ loss in pH. Also, who gets the benefit in actually refining table salt? Thanks.

I have tried the sea salt flush for long-standing constipation and it has always worked as long as I take 2 teaspoons of salt with 4 glasses tepid water. I have tried adding a large glass of probiotic mixture grown overnight from capsules and a little xylitol and filtered water. I take this about 10 minutes after the salt water. It seems to be resetting my bowels so they are working so far, but it has only been a week. I tried it again today. I just figured the probiotic could flush through too and be more thorough if it didn't need to go through the digestive process. I have raynauds and autoimmune Sjogrens, so I would like to clean up the bowel to see if that works.

When you do not have a bowel movement, this means that you will need to adjust the salt content, less or more. Also if you have chronic constipation you may want to try just drinking as much water as possible, to flush the system. Parasites or Candida could be the cause of constipation, in either case the salt water flush is needed, along with any other process to eliminate.

Alkalizing Sea Salt Remedies

Sea salt is amazing! It has a mineral content of 84 trace minerals and very alkalizing. Most people lack this minerals these days, because the soil is so deficient. A little pinch of salt in water early in the morning not only flushes your system of toxins, but also replenish your it.

Sea salt intestinal cleanse

I used 1 quart filtered water. I boiled it for 10 minutes with 5 teaspoons of pure unrefined sea salt. An hour or two later I headed to the washroom this flushed me out completely and I highly recommend it for clearer skin, mind, clean bowels and more energy.

Three weeks ago my daughter came to me with what we thought might be insect bites on the upper part of her leg (bottom of her bottom). They hurt. Visually they didn't look like much more than a mosquito bite. Three days later she came to me again. The "bites" had escalated frighteningly!! They had turned black on the inside and were whelped in red. Before we jumped into the car for the hospital (Sunday), I sat her in a soaking tub of Sea Salt - like half the container of it. After 20 minutes there was an incredibly noticable difference!! The red and the whelps had both gone down. I ran to the store and bought 5 containers of sea salt and had her sit in it twice a day. I had to go out of town shortly thereafter for a week.

During this time she let the salt soaks lax and was not interested at all in showing her father the problem (LOL), When I got home the lesions were on BOTH of her upper legs!! Back to the store for more salt. I've had her sit in it three times a day. It's been three days and they are almost completely GONE!! It's unbelievable!!

Arthritis
Posted by Ron (Modesto, California) on 11/03/2008

This is a follow-up to my earlier post. After posting my comments I decided to modify my regimen for arthritis and chronic constipation to the following: Still one teaspoon Celtic Grey Organic Sea Salt on an empty stomach each morning in a 16 oz bottle spring water, followed by a 10oz cup of spring water, with the juice of one fresh squeezed lemon, I teaspoon ACV, 1/8th Teaspoon Organic Cayenne, and an optional teaspoon of either Organic Agave, or Organic Grade B Maple Syrup for taste. I just tried a cup using the Organic Blue Agave I purchased at Trader Joe's, and the taste was quite good. It's best to avoid fluoridated water it you can, that's why I use the bottled Spring Water. I will probably add a second cup of the tea a bedtime. Will post again after a few months to advise how well it worked.

So, am I doing something wrong. I tried this and got dizzy and had to lay down for an hours. Felt awful. And now it's the next day and still no BM. I've tried the ACV, baking soda, senna herb, aloe. . . . And still nothing. I'm getting scared. Any help? I haven't tried the magnesium yet though.

Constipation
Posted by Sylvie (La Ciotat) on 09/06/2020

Same problem, I have a megacolon because of lifelong constipation. At age 50 I finally found the trick for me; an enema pouch in silicon, with a long flexible tube, about 25€, reusable, easy to clean. Bought it on an internet site. So it's a "mechanical" solution, as drugs give me more of their side-effects than their official goal.

Constipation
Posted by Bob (NYC) on 08/19/2024

You are reacting from an electrolyte imbalance or just need potassium to balance out the salt increase. If you are trying to get bowels to start moving just try CALM magnesium I take a little extra if I feel constipated.

Constipation
Posted by Godshealthlaw (Bourbon, Tx) on 01/22/2012

Some people are so backed up they have to have an enema to clean themselves out. If you are taking this and are still having no BM's an enema is needed. You can do it yourselves with a kit. Also walking and massaging the stomach in a left to right circle could help.

Resounding YA, Finishing my 4th day of a water fast and became a little worried not having a single BM since the fast began. Cruising the web and came across Sea Salt as a laxative and descided to give it a try. I can tell you it worked for me ! It took about an hour as predicted - awesome! I didn't measure properly and pretty sure I added too much salt - i felt the need and drank another liter of water soon after. Next time I will get the spoon out - and I WILL use this cleanse again. I can continue with the fast now with a clearer mind (and bowel). Hopefully I'll make it the full 10 days, feel good so far. DO stay close to the bathroom.

I have had a ringworm for awhile now and I ha1e tried a cream, doctor recommended, and it didn't work. I had read before from another site about using sea salt. So I tried it. I bandaged the salt onto the ailment and left it so for about an hour and a half and already there is some results. This remedy does burn, but if you can withstand it for as long as possible, you will be rewarded.

I'm not sure what caused the illness. It passed after a few minutes. Does anyone have any ideas why I would feel sick? thanks for your help. D from Fl.

I appreciated seeing this today because I am trying to get the right amount of electrolytes, as well as vitamins. I believe the electrolytes are needed especially for the slight a-fib I'm having lately. What do you take, or do you have any good articles/videos I can watch to try and get Potassium, calcium, and I think it chloride? I have a Mag supplement, and I can get my sodium but not totally certain on the amounts with what I may be getting in my Ketogenic diet. Feedback super welcome if you have some for me, Carmel?

After reading about your problem and the responses. It seems your point of attck may be the problem. If someones blocking the front entrance...you gotta go to the back door! You can either go to the local RXall and purchase a bottle of saline solution with the long nozzle and apply up the rectum, or you can pour out the solution and make your own. A mixture of Garlic, coffee & warm water jet streamed into the rectum will do the trick. If not! you need a colonic for parasite evacuation.

If you're still constipated after the sea salt flush, then your diet is too acidic. You need a macrobiotic diet that is free of acidic processed foods. Stay away from sugar and white flour, corn syrups, artificial sweeteners, processed oils, soybean products, synthetic vitamins, and margarine, to name a few of the bad foods. Try to eat organic as much as possible: meat, fish, eggs, butter, dairy, salads, and plenty of raw plant foods (use a blender to make smoothies out of fruits and raw veggies, etc. ), with the missing ingredient: enzymes. Basically, your body is suffering with enzyme and mineral depletion from eating mostly cooked and processed foods. You need mineral and enzyme supplements at each meal, and a lot of omega 3 oils (cod liver oil). Also, a good probiotic is very important as well.

Hello Greg, the whole thing about alkalizing is to adjust the Ph level in your water. google baking soda for ph levels the baking soda should be aluminum free check the labels I get mine online much cheaper... you can read about the amounts for use online I also recommend using glass for a pitcher or container the b/s might take some chemicals out of the plastic. I mix a gallon at a time. good luck feel free to ask what you need. DW

Himalayan Salt

Hello,

I'm new to this site, I started the fibromyalgia borax treatment and the baking soda/lemon juice for restless leg, Blackstrap molasses for my monthly periods and ACV for everything else, I'm on day four and when I woke up this morning it was the first time in years i was able to just simply get up and get going, I'm not 100% yet but much much better! (Thank you all so much!)

I have a question about Himalayan crystal salt , it sounds very benificial but I havn't been able to find any place that tells if it has Iodine in it.. My Grandmother suffered from a goiter for years before being told to use Iodized salt, after she switched the goiter went away so I would like to keep that in my diet but I dont want to over do it by buying supplements if its already in the Himalayan salt.

if any one knows much about it I would love to know more. It seems most online sites are just fancy ads trying to sell it with out much detail about it. Thanks for your time!

To Raynbogrl: I have a 2.2lb jar of Himalayan Crystal Salt and checked everywhere on the jar. It does not say anywhere that there is iodine in it. The only ingredient listed is sodium. It also says that it is pure 100% natural. I thought that salt naturally does not have iodine in it. It has to be added. Hope this helps

Iodine is highly contraindicated in Hashimotos hypothyroid as it can exacerbate the autoimmunity. This is likely what was happening with your grandmother if she found relief once taking the iodized salt out of her diet. Loads of literature out there showing the science stating NO iodine with autoimmune hypothyroid.
