i woke up in the middle of the night with such a sore throat i couldnt swallow my own saliva. i thought i was going to die the pain was intensifying so quickly...anyway, i think its strep throat (i have a dry cough, my ears and joints are also sore and i feel like i have a slight fever). this is different to your regular mucous-cough or flu-sore throat, where anything like cayenne pepper or vinager seems to only temporarily relieve it, and actually aggravate it slightly...

my partner came up with two remedies that helped ease the pain so that i could swallow and even doze off for a bit. the most helpful was making up a steam bowl. half fill a large bowl with boiling water and squeeze 1 or 2 lemons and 2 tablespoons of honey. place on table where you can sit with your head over it, and drape a towel over your head, covering the whole bowl so that you`ve got a mini sauna for your head. breathe the vapours in through your mouth. keep going until the steam stops - even if it`s really hot! i could already feel a huge difference after a minute, being able to swallow without my whole body tensing up! by far the best.

im also sipping on sage and manuka honey tea (active) right now which is soothing and infinitely easier to drink than water right now - 2t sage which you get at the supermarket and 2t honey and brew and strain it like tea.

if you are in desperate pain like i was last night, then letting some ice roll to the back of your mouth helps the pain to dull enough for it to be bearable for a temporary solution.

if you have a killer sore throat i am in total sympathy with you...i hope this helps
