After 4 days of horrific pain I finally got smart enough to check Earth Clinic. Abcessed tooth, deep in the jaw line. Pain was enough to make me wnat to jump from a moving car. First, mistakenly, ran to the drug store and spent $15 onon over-the counter JUNK. LOL.

Then, at 2am on the fourth night, I finally checked in to EC. I saw the garlic cures for pain...as I did not have a fresh clove, but did have some chopped garlic in a jar, I immediately went to work. Scooped a teaspoon full and dropped in right onto to tooth. Ahhh...instant relief from the pain.

Next, I had to deal with getting the infection drawn to the surface. Tried the teabag. Just wet a regular old, cheap, black tea bag and put it directly on my gum and closed my mouth over it. I was able to grab some sleep for about 4 hours. A ringing phone woke me up at about noon. While talking on the phone, I felt a huge lump that had form next to my tooth. Quick...checked the mirror, the infection had surfaced.

I sterilized a needle, and one quick poke.....it started draining. 20 minutes and a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide later.....DONE. I had my mouth open the whole time...cleaning with the HP and Q-tips.

I was able to attend a community dinner that evening at 5pm and definitely ate my share of hamburger, salads and banana splits....lol I was completely healed with absolutely no pain. Amazing.

As a preventative measure, I have since been mixing a 1/2 a teaspoon of Tumeric into a shot of vegetable juice...just to ward off any more infections.

Thank you EC! You and your posters have saved my life more than once.

Garlic and tea bags cured my tooth abscess.

I just wanted to say thank you to eveyone who took the time to post their experiences and remedies on this site. I am one of those lucky people who do not have dental insurance, I have medi-cal but they no longer provide dental care for adults. Ever since I had my kids I keep getting cavities which I had never had before. Any way, my teeth are not in the best condition and recently I took a trip to the emergency room for an abscessed tooth that I had. I took the full ten day dose of penicilin that they gave me. When the prescription ran out my abscess returned immediately, which means it was never gone, it was just reduced. I decide to hit the internet to research some natural remedies and stumbled upon this site. After reading all of the suggestions I went to my kitchen to see what I had. I had plenty of fresh garlic as well as several different kinds of tea. I sliced the fresh garlic and placed it in between my gum and cheek, right up against the abscess. It burned for the first few minutes. I replaced the garlic like seven times that night. Then when I finally went to bed I placed a tea bag against my gum in my cheek as well. First I used a green tea bag becuase that was what was reccomended but I remembered the caffeine and replaced it whith a camomile tea bag. When I woke up my mouth felt much better but I could tell the infection was still there. I went to work and did not mess with it for the first part of the day. In the afternoon I did the garlic slices two times to help with the swelling. When I got home the abscess was big again and I was getting ready to do the garlic again. I went in to the bathroom to look at it and I could see that the pus was closer to the surface. Then all of a sudden it opened up and snot colored pus and a little blood came out. I rinsed my mouth with hydrogen peroxide twice and then water. The garlic and tea bag did in 24 hrs. what penicilin could not do in ten days!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Tooth Abscess

Garlic. Use it.

I have had a tooth abscess on my lower jaw due to an unfinished root canal I had 9 months ago. Its swollen with pus and the pain has almost been unbearable. I'm one of those lucky ones with no insurance, medical, dental or otherwise and I became so desperate that I actually tried to drain the abscess myself with a needle and some otc pain reliever.

It was too painful and very difficult to hold my mouth open at the same time.

Then, upon stumbling to this site, I discovered something quite wonderful. GARLIC. A whole clove. Cut in half. I knew it was gonna burn, but #%$&!

Be prepared for pain. Especially if you've cut your gum up with a needle. I could only keep the garlic on initially for like 5 seconds, but every time I made myself do it a little longer with a little more and WHALA.

About an hour later i can hold the whole clove in my mouth, cut side against the abscess and I can tell you now, that the swelling has already decreased SIGNIFICANTLY.

Consider me impressed. I'm going to continue with this and hope it actually removes some of the abscess. Thank God for this site.

GARLIC FOR THE WIN.

Toothache and Tooth Abscess Remedies : I have been battling with a stubborn wisdom tooth that is growing in sideways. I lived abroad for the last couple of years and now that I am back in the US, I don't have health insurance. Usually, my mouth is fine. But every once in a while my gums and cheek will swell up around the tooth to the point that I cannot close my mouth without biting them. The inflammation spreads to my throat, sinuses and ear. In the past I have had to resort to strong antibiotics to stop the swelling. I prefer not to use them so I have tried mouth wash, hydrogen peroxide, salt water, ice, etc with slow and little success.

Yesterday, my gum flared up again and became worse over night. After reading these posts, I immediately went to the store for garlic. I chopped a 1/4 inch slice from the clove and placed it between my cheek and teeth. I spit out the slice after five minutes and could close my mouth without biting my cheek and gums! I replaced the slice with another, and another. When the burning stopped, I would gently chew the garlic to release more juice, when the garlic breaks up I replace it with a new slice. After a half hour, my pain has been cut in half and the swelling has gone down 75%. It is working beautifully. Thank you to those who posted their experiences.

Hello, I use your site all of the time and want to thank you for such useful information!

Recently, my feet started swelling along with blood pressure spiking to very high levels. I do not have high blood pressure so I could not understand what was going on. By day three I figured out I had a tooth infection that was probably starting to seep into my blood causing the swelling, blood pressure spikes, tingling in head, legs, and feet. After speaking with a dentist who felt they were unrelated and would not give me any advice on whether I should go to the ER, I decided to use garlic infused with yogurt (yogurt helps it go down easier). I took about 1 T. of crushed garlic and 1 T. of yogurt. Within 5 minutes the swelling in my feet went away and I felt my blood pressure had gone down. I took my blood pressure and it had dropped over 50 points! Obviously, the blood pressure spikes were brought on by the tooth infection, unbeknownst to the young Dentist!!!

I cook with garlic all of the time, but RAW GARLIC is terrific for blood pressure and infections!!!

Thanks!

Garlic cured my jaw infection! One of molars in my upper jaw broke off about a year ago, all the way down to the gums. I don't have insurance and am mortally afraid of going to the dentist, so when my cheek swelled up yesterday, I panicked. I tried green clay, bit it didn't help much. After sleeping 3 hours and not knowing what to do about the pain (painkillers didn't help much either), I decided to do a search on the Internet and stumbled across your site.

Garlic worked wonders! I chewed it and pressed the pulp against the 'hole' between my teeth. It stung so badly, I had tears in my eyes, but after 5 minutes the pain had subsided. Am absolutely overjoyed! Will continue to treat with garlic, I have a really good feeling about it. Thank you!

I am in the middle of a bad sinus infection with a lot of the pain settling in my jaw and bottom teeth. Last night I finally went to the clinic and got on an antibiotic. When I got home, I was miserable and sobbing from the pain, so I sliced up a garlic clove and placed it along my gumline and held it there for a few minutes - as long as I could. This was the only comfort I'd had - nothing over-the-counter was working, and it allowed me to go to sleep. When I woke up this morning, I had a lot of drainage down the back of my throat and a giant ball of pus where I had placed the garlic. I am convinced that it drew out my infection.

I had a tooth ache and sore gums beginning on Friday night. Didn't sleep hardly at all. Saturday morning, I got out the garlic - 1 pealed clove. I sliced the clove in half and put each half on the sore gums, cut side facing gums/tooth. It burned like crazy. Kept it there and moved it around for at least 30 minutes, maybe longer. I also ate one clove of garlic toward the end of this. Slept much better that night and on Sunday, I still had some soreness. probably caused by the garlic burning but the tooth pain was totally gone. It's now Monday morning and I can hardly tell that I even had a problem. Garlic rules!

Hi, came across your site the other day while suffering from what I suspect was the start of a tooth abcess.I am in the US until March 1st and was looking at the possibility of having to seek treatment here which would have been very expensive. The CDN dollar is only worth 80 cents US. Fortunately I came across the info on using garlic to treat the tooth. I have been very sceptical in the past about home remedies. I tried a slice of garlic clove placed on the gums and treated the tooth for approximately 4 hours yesterday. Applying the garlic to the gums did hurt for a short time. I replaced the clove several times to insure the garlic oils remained strong. To my amazement the tooth stopped hurting by evening and appears to be healing..so far so good! Thanks for the many that provided their feedback. After reading over 20 posts on this subject it convinced me there must be something to it. Thanks for creating this site so this kind of information can be shared. Good work and great site!

I had gone to the dentist and he told me to get an x-ray because he said, "we might have to do surgery". I used the garlic with preserverence not just one or two times a day. The abscess went away. I have no pain now and I did the x-ray a few days after I used the garlic remedy. I have to return to the dentist but, I surely don't have the pain from my tooth anymore. I wish I had known about this remedy before, because I didn't sleep for an entire night.

Garlic (for wisdom tooth abcess) 50 cents.

Apple Cider Vinegar (for congestion) 2 bucks.

Table salt (for sinus rinse) had some.

Having a wisdom tooth abscess that lead to sinus infection (on one side), sore throat, and mild ear plugging all clear up by the 5th day... ( i know corney)... PRICELESS!!!

I thought I was coming down with a cold cause my sinuses and throat were feeling a bit messed up, but only on one side. My wisdom tooth started to hurt the day before. Checked out your site and it linked all my ailments. I knew about the garlic for toothaches and ACV for congestion and saline rinse thing but didn't know my problems were related. I read a comment where someone had an upper tooth/gum infection move up into their sinuses!!!

First I chewed a raw clove of garlic and pushed the wad over my tooth. Burns like my favorite spicey foods, but in 5-10 min pain is gone and garlic juices help kill the abcess.

Then I made a ACV drink. Half a cap in a 8 oz. glass to bust up the snot. Blew my nose and enough came out that I could breath through both nostrils.

With my nose open enough now I did the salin rinse (neti pot style with a ketchup style squirt bottle with the tip cut down to about 1/2 an inch). I think a tablespoon of salt in a pint (16 oz.) of warm water works great!!!

If I didn't check out this site I would probably be trying to treat a cold... THIS SITE ROCKS!!!

Thanks for putting it all out there for others...Terry

Editor's Choice

Whenever I get a gum abscess (not that frequent, but still enough to agitate me.), I have always drained it myself (painful, but has the desired result.) However, very recently, I had an abscess which lasted for over one week and was too painful to drain. I am the opposite of a hypochondriac and I believe in my bodies' ability to heal itself within reason, but this was getting too much. After some research, I found this website which recommended Garlic. I must be honest and say that I am shocked at how effective it actually was. I sliced part of a clove and wedged it between my inner cheek and the abscess (gum). At first, it burns (may burn alot depending on pain threshold) and feels quite uncomfortable, but try and bear it. After an hour, there was no pain and a noticeable reduction in swelling. The abscess then drained and appears to be healing fine. I have always had an interest in the healing powers of plants, herbs and natural methods (within reason) and I am very much anti pharmaceutical drugs, especially when nature can provide an equally good remedy. In this society, economic gain seems to over rule health.

Further research on Garlic has led me onto an interesting history on Garlic and what it can offer in a medicinal sense. Had it not been for this website (and the people who have left honest opinions), I would not have discovered this remedy. Thank you very much.
