Oil Pulling, Iodine, Oil of Oregano

I have to get a new dental policy and get a crown on a molar. As an FYI, if your dental insurance doesn't cover a root canal or crown due to length of time. You still are given the contracted rate where the dentist cannot charge over a certain amount for the service and crown. Most people don't know this and many people in admin don't know this but this is a fact. This can save you hundreds of dollars typically- still going to be expensive but MUCH better than full price.

Okay, so while I am arranging a new dental policy, my tooth that I planned on crowning this month starts REALLY hurting. I did not have an abscess but it must have been inside because that was definitely a sign of infection and it was only going to get worse. I have had a root canal and crown on another tooth 5 years ago and the pain from the infection was beyond agony. Fortunately, I never had problems after the procedure and I have pretty good dental health, but I never want to experience that again so I got busy!

I had recently started taking iodine supplements by capsule and by drops in my water. So I immediately gave myself a super dose for a couple of days to get it going in my system. Still the pain lingered (I think the iodine was keeping the infection in check but not completely killing it), and I could tell it was starting to become more intense and more frequent. So I got online and started researching what I could do to at least keep the infection under control until I get some Penicillin from my doc so hopefully I won't need a root canal.

The following things I discovered and tried to a good measure of success:

1. Oil pulling with unrefined organic coconut oil. I got IMMEDIATE RESULTS!! My swelling in the roof of my mouth and all of my pain were gone! I was not congested at all, but the second I spit the oil out I got crazy pains all through my head as I felt the sinuses clearing and adjusting pressure! I did not even know I was inflamed! My body was having an intense immune response and it was going completely unnoticed until that moment! That is scary and I am actually so thankful I had this toothache or I might never have tried this! My lymph nodes are back to normal and they have a tendency to always stay a little swollen but I always come out "healthy" I am shocked and again thankful to all the good people that post on these websites! I began oil pulling 2 or 3 times a day but still after a couple of days I was not getting complete resolution. But I believe it is a part of the resolution.

2. I bought Turmeric in capsule form. I took 1 pill of 450 mg of Tumeric and curc. I did not notice anything with my tooth but other things were happening including my nose would run and other purging types of scenarios where I believe my body was detoxing! I felt that even though I could not feel a difference in my tooth, that obviously it was detoxing my system which overall is helping my body heal.

3. I tried OIL OF OREGANO! This stuff is crazy intense and STRONG. when they say drops I mean heed that warning!!! Trust me I didn't take it that seriously and I thought screw the tooth I think I just killed myself with oregano oil!

I put a couple of drops in my sparkling mineral water with fresh lemon and my iodine and it was completely good. So try this if you want to get it internally as well as topically.

HERE IS A MAGIC GERM KILLING COMBO THAT KNOCKED IT OUT:

Keep in mind I continued oil pulling 2 to 3 times a day, took my 1 pill of Turmeric in the morning with my iodine pills and also drops in my water (2 diff kinds of iodine are both needed by the body), but I then got a cotton ball and put 2 droppers of iodine on it with 3 to 4 drops of Oil of Oregano and put it directly on the gum above the tooth. GROSS and you will drool like a St. Bernard so seriously get a towel. I am not exaggerating. I kept it on my gum and did not move it for about 25 minutes. When I took it off WOW! No pain, all swelling completely and totally gone! I did not have pain for several hours and then I oil pulled again and took a Tylenol. Completely pain free into the middle of the next day! I still oil pulled and took my Turmeric and iodine and did the procedure again, but for only 10 minutes.

My situation is completely under control as I prepare to get my crown and prevent a root canal. As an extra measure I am going to make sure I take Penicillin for 5 days or so to prevent any potential lingering bugs that might get trapped in the crown. Penicillin is super cheap thank god and dentists don't have a problem prescribing it even just a call in. This is an FYI for others that might have a dentist at least get them some penicillin to help save a tooth. I never take antibiotics and never get sick, so I respond well to things and if you are the same way this could be an extra idea for you.

I really hope this helps someone because I think it is something that is pretty easy to follow and reasonable to maintain that also will help your general health.

Ozone

I had two loose teeth in the front. I had weekly ozone treatment for $50.00. The dentist was super nice and fair, he would inject a massive amount of ozone between the two teeth since ozone moves seeking something to react with and it goes after the infections and destroys them. It took ten sessions to kill the infection.

TOOTH ABSCESS. - I have lost a tooth or 2 from the dreaded tooth abscess in the past when little information was available to help other than going to the dentist. I have now tried most of the recognised alternative published remedies and I have to say none of them were a total success - until - I took some fairly large doses of powdered olive leaf.

The result.......almost immediate, well, within a few hours, all pain subsided and after following on with reduced doses the abscess completely subsided. - AMAZING!!

Oil of Oregano

Had a re-occuring back moler - pre-existing tooth/bone infection and in the 9th hour before going to the ER thought I'd give this a try:

Steeped fresh oregano plant from a friends garden and chopped fresh organic lemons (with peels- important) and let both steep (do not boil) together for :30 mins - and swished in mouth every 15-30 mins, then consumed - repeat during waking hours for at least 5 days.

Amazingly, the very severe pain subsided instantly! The medium inflammation reduced daily. It's important to continue applications for 5 days or longer- as needed, even though symptoms are relieved.

For a tooth abscess, swoosh salt water around first. The abscess will subside very quickly. Then mess around with your oils and your herbs. Salt should come first. It works, I can tell you from personal experience. And very quickly.

God bless.

Yes... No visible puss or swelling for a bit over two weeks now.

This was only after I started following the dietary recommendations of Ramiel Nagel very seriously: for me, the crucial change was a diet high in real unprocessed unsweetened yoghurt and buttermilk. Also, I cut out the xylitol rinses that appeared to turn my teeth grey/yellow, and I brushed my teeth with sodium bicarbonate as main ingredient (also did some rinses with it). Those changes were exactly concurrent with the dietary improvement.

In sum, I would not recommend xylitol. I recommend following Ramiel Nagel/Weston Price dietary advice. Also, I recommend brushing with sodium bicarbonate.

There is another option, which is weekly ozone shots at the infected sites, if it fails have surgery. My ND did weekly ozone shots at all infected dental sites The side effects started on day 2 -- a bad headache, brain fog lasted 3 days the 4th day turned into migraine, I felt super weird, my brain off kilter. Second, time I had ozone, again same effects!

( I could not stand how ozone made me feel so had oral surgery. Ozone is great for some people, not for me.

The infection comes back about once a week. After applying garlic, the puss boil drains quickly, and after one day I am usually rid of it.

The regimen has changed a bit. I don't chew on garlic anymore with the affected tooth, as it actually CAUSED my teeth to crack a little bit. So that's a little warning. However I still eat it every day. Neem leaf+echinacea tea I am keeping up. Oil pulling I am keeping up. I am rinsing now with saltwater + xylitol, because xylitol has some amazing effects. Also applying urine (due to the urea content and possibly vitamins) and/or xylitol seems to help the gums, as my gums do not get burned anymore by garlic application. There is also a case that got rid of the tooth root infection by using urine therapy + water fasting. But I love to eat too much.

The most radical change now, sparked by the small crack in the tooth, is that I eat a Weston Price like diet for tooth remineralization. I aim for foods high in fat soluble vitamins (A, D, and K) and supplement with K2. I avoid phytic acid. Also I use comfrey-root oil + eggshells. Be careful not to overdo comfrey-root as it taxes the liver.

I have been on the diet for a bit over a week now, and the comfrey-root+eggshells for 5 days. The vitamin K2 I have used just one day now . I can see that the crack has become less visible (it used to be black, now it is almost like a craze line).

My gum around the tooth has receded a bit though, because I was exerting too much pressure during the last drain.

So all in all, nothing has aggrevated, but I hope the balls of puss will soon stop coming entirely. I am very happy to have found the Weston Price diet due to the stupid crack. I am confident that the crack will become invisible in a month or so, but I will keep updating.

Buyers Beware - the new GSE no longer has citricidal in it, that is why it tastes different than the old stuff. The reason is some red tape. There is a brand that has it but you have to do so research to find it, supposed it is the one that is for external use.

EC: Nutribiotic, the company that was the first to manufacture Grapefruit Seed Extract, now makes one called "Citricidal Grapefruit Seed Extract". Their old brand of GSE is called Vegan GSE.

You could stop using flossing-sticks and use a Water-pick instead. Floss cab cut gums between teeth rather quickly and not always knowingly. Before using Garlic on my own abscess, my regime was 3% Peroxide flush, brusing teeth with toothpaste, then half a capful of Listerine. The detritus which comes out after spitting into the basin, has to be seen to be believed!

Lastly, I use a Water-pick with warm water and a small amount of a liquid freshner and again, I'm staggered by what is flushed out. Obviously, prevention is preferable to cure but I've stopped flossing because a cut gum permits bacterial entry and with all that stuff secreted within the teeth-crevices, it seems to be asking for trouble.

At one night, I noticed a swelling on my gums above one tooth with a huge amount of composite filling. I went to the pharmacy first to get some Corsodyl (both the mouth water and the gel). Also I used salt-water for rinsing. The swelling subsided a bit. then a few days later I went to the dentist, who said that the root was infected and that I needed root canal treatment.

I had some distrust to this diagnosis, as I did not have any pain (pain typically precedes the swelling in periapical abscess). he had taken x-rays, but he was not very clear why that indicated an infection of the root.

I learned though that in some cases there may not be any pain with a periapical abscess. On the other hand, I found that some infections may seem like they are at the root but are in fact not and are just periodontal. Anyway the pain was non-existent, and the swelling was small. So I thought it was a bit early to say that horrible treatment (both in terms of the poisining as well as the amount of money) is the only thing you could do for a tooth. And if I failed to cure it myself, there was time enough left before things would get wrong severely.

So I start looking for some of the natural treatments online. The first thing I found was neem powder which has strong antiseptic effect. Then I found this great website earthclinic, where there were many things you could do for an abscess: garlic, oil pulling, echinacea, etc.

My regimen:

-oil pulling as I woke up and at other times when I had a near empty stomach. olive oil worked best for me. coconut oil is simply too delicious.

-rinsing with salt water after meals

-taking a clove of garlic, then biting it in smaller pieces. If burn, then swallow some or add some water. most of the pieces however parked right next to the abscess.

-putting a wet teabag on the abscess after the rinsing

-drinking tea with neem powder and echinacea powder a few times a day. maybe a third of a small spoon of each added to grean tea or water.

-I stopped eating bread which sticks to the teeth and whose carbohydrates seem to be ideal for feeding bacteria.

-in a few days, the puss became visible, so I started some draining procedure.
Draining procedure: sterilize needle by boiling it in water; poke a hole at the site where the puss is visible; then use paper tissues to push the puss out.

-when it was draining, at some point I decided to give the alternative (no fluoride) toothpaste a go, and to stop the fluoride toothpaste. While the abscess was very miniscule at this point, it is noteworthy that the day after the abscess was gone. The toothpaste I used was using water, coconut oil, neem powder and echinacea powder. I now use this and sometimes add some salts (e.g. sodium+potassium) in there.

-After using the regimen, it only took me 3-4 days and the abscess was entirely gone.

TODO:

Now that the abscess is gone, it is worthwhile to think that there may still be a small infection inside that may come back to form an abscess at some time. So I plan to maintain a oral health regime like this, though perhaps with a bit lower frequency.

-I will report back if the abscess reappears so to inform the community.

Or is it OK to start and hope it helps other issues like Thyroid, hormones etc whilst I'm sorting out copper zinc thing? Thank you again.

I had wondered about using glue I'm glad you took the time to write this out, I've used the zinc oxide powder and clove oil recipe to make temp fillings and even had dentists say they prob could not have done a better job. but as a temp filling they eventually wear out (I've found you need to cure them properly for a few hours and then light use for a day or so after that they last weeks even months, I plan to get one of those uv dental lights off amazon now that they are $30 or so.)

Cheers.

Jaw Cavitation Remedies

I wanted to avoid surgery. So, I asked a expert cavitation dentist , if there was any other way to cure a jaw bone infection besides surgery ? He said, No, surgery is crucial because the infection must be scraped out and off the jaw bone, once this is done it gets the blood circulating to the area. The scraped infection is sent to the lab for identification, then have your doctor can treat the findings. Before surgery I had 25 shots of ozone in my mouth in a two week period . These shots did not touch my infection my case is severe. Another option is go to hospital bone infections are treated with long terms (like six months ) IV antibiotics this is standard.

I had cavitation surgery done twice one site was done three times, I guess that is pretty common.

Swedish Bitters

In some cases, soaking Swedish Bitters on cotton or cloth and putting it on the abscess (on the gum or bump on the gum) will greatly help, and if done regularly (at least once or twice per day), it can make the abscess go away.

Some health food stores stock Swedish Bitters, but it is more economical to order it on the internet.

It is worth a try. Drinking the stuff can do a lot of good for the body as well.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Glue
Posted by Joy H. (Saint John, Nb) on 12/12/2015

The glue is a temporary fix. All dental procedures damage teeth and denten. Much research that is ignored ($'s) show that Vitamin D will regrow teeth and denten! Best option is to eat whole fruits and veg for the body to process properly. Try the Butler Gum Wax instead of the glue. It will fall out, but will allow the tooth to "breathe" and regrow.

Re Brushing - above - A pioneer doctor was advised to have all his teeth removed because of gingivitus - Dr. Hall maybe. Instead he researched where the bacteria grows. I believe it is 95% under the gum line. So if you brush top down and bottom up you will def get gingivitus! You need a small soft brush and need to brush gently at about 45 degrees into the gum line top and bottom. About a 5 minute process once or twice a day. The good doctor died with all his teeth intact!

Also much research everywhere except North America on Coconut pulling. The coconut oil is a natural antibacterial (Must be cold pressed! - All goodness is removed in heat or hydrogenation processes the latter being a poison! ) 1 to 2 teaspoons in your mouth - softens to liquid quickly - swish through the mouth for 20 minutes. (Longer than that allows the bacteria that was removed to be reabsorbed! ) Spit into garbage not sink - this is full of poison. Rinse with warm water then brush gently as described above. Your teeth won't require whitening - the coconut does that. Your gums and teeth will be happy. There is lots more info about dental myths out the - check it out!

I've had cavitation surgery it was not bad. They can give you a pill to take the day of the procedure to make you calm down. Cavitation surgery I had it done twice on five sites in my mouth it is like any dental procedure it may take a little longer, and more scraping, but you are numbed so you will not feel it. If your that scared have them just put you to sleep. Doing a sauna helps draw out poison from an infection and mixing little Dmso with a 1 drop of oregano oil and Grapefruit seed extract in distilled water and swish your mouth with it might help.

HI U ORH,

I love you back, but disagree that I was "flip" in my reply.

I had to giggle at the irony of you, of all people, calling me out for something like that. ;-) You are the saltiest dog on this board. I say that with great affection, because I've come to know that you have a big heart and mean no harm, but I'm sure many of the 'regulars' here would agree that you're well-known for your harsh comments. When I finished reading the post, I had to scroll up to make sure I read the poster's name correctly the first time, because I thought 'it couldn't be ORH calling ME out for being "flip"--that is quintessential 'pot/kettle' ..haha :)

I began my post by saying that I was glad the poster's infection was gone and went on to say that if they'd used the garlic internally vs. only externally, that it would have expedited the process.

I agree with you about Ozone, but that's not an option for everyone. Garlic, however, *is*. It is easily obtained and is dirt-cheap--something that literally 'anyone' can access and afford.

As for posting my solution "by the numbers", I don't think I could have made it any more clear. I gave very specific instructions in terms of how much garlic, how often to take it, etc. That's something I'm *always* very cognizant about when posting here, because so many who post success stories do so nebulously.(i.e. "Turmeric cured my _______"<--enter ailment here.) It leaves the reader asking; "How much turmeric? How often did you take it?", etc.

In any event, I was in no way being "flip". Not that it's beneath me ;-), but if I were, I'd have *owned* it.

Y'all behave yourself for a change.

HI U EARTHLING,

Glad you posted because I was just about to tell Don that he had the most discipline and tenacity of any feller I have ever seen or heard of. Now you say there is a short cut.

Informed folks know that root canals are a racket thing like so much of the medical field is. Ozone can solve the problem before it starts or after it gets infected. The endodontists are fighting Ozone tooth and nail.

Earthling, I love you, but you were a little flip with your answer. If you really have the solution to this problem then address the problem as if you want to help all man kind. Do it by the numbers such that even an Arkansas Redneck like me can understand.

If you will do that even an iron-ass like me will give you a heart +, and I know my sweet friend somewhere in Europe will also.

This site is rocking and if you have a solution for infected teeth then you are the main rocker.

Great to hear that your abscess is gone. However, you could have skipped about 8 of the steps you listed if you'd also taken the garlic internally.

That's been our protocol for years and it's never failed us, or anyone else we've recommended it to.

In addition to the topical application of the garlic slices, we chop up a big clove (or 2 small ones) into small pieces, let the pieces sit a few minutes, then pile them onto a spoon and down them with lots of water.

We repeat this twice for a total of 3x/day. With the garlic working its magic on the outside and the inside, even the worst abscesses have been gone in a day or two.

I came across Earthclinic.com in my search for a natural remedy for a tooth problem. The situation: I had gotten a gold crown installed on my right rear molar and within a few months it fell out. I went back and had it reinstalled. I thought the area should have been a little more cleansed out before putting it back on and I didn't think much about it until the tooth started to ache. It had been getting worse over a few month period and when I went in for my teeth cleaning I had x-rays to see what was going on. The x-rays revealed an abscess that was directly under the tooth, under the crown. They said it would need surgery to fix. I asked what they would do. They said they would drill through the crown into the abscess, etc. etc. Ok, I figured it was due to the lack of proper sanitization as to why it was abscess in the first place, so now they want to drill through the crown and do who knows what. I don't think so! I was determined to find a holistic natural remedy which search landed me on the earth clinic website. I spent time reading about all the different natural remedies and things different folks had success with. I was determined to get this healed on my own naturally without getting jacked up by the dentist again, so I decided to take a multi pronged approach and combine many of the methods I had read about; a full frontal assault on the infection! In the end, my tooth abscess healed itself. My next cleaning, and x-ray was taken and much to their surprise the abscess was gone and my suspicion that it was completely healed was confirmed!

What I did:

- I sliced a raw clove of garlic thin and put it right along side the tooth where the puss pocket was showing up and left it on all night. I did this every night for about a week. I let the one sliced side of the garlic against the infected area and the outer thin layers facing out against my cheek so it would not burn the inside of my cheek. It stings pretty good, but you just have to do it. It settles down after a short time of 10-15 min.

- Swallow 3 table spoons 3x per day of Braggs apple cider vinegar by mouth internally as well as using the ACV as a mouth rinse up to 6 x per day.

-Also during this time, I was using The Braggs "Miracle of Fasting" book and fasting one day per week. This helps to cleanse the body and direct the bodies energies towards the healing task at hand instead of digestion, etc.

- After the first week of using Garlic at night, I mixed olive oil with bentonite clay to make a piece of clay, wrapped a thin slice of garlic in the clay and put that on the tooth area all night. Usually I would wake at about 3 needing to spit it all out, then would do a quick rinse with ACV, then go back to bed.

- I also would make clay out of activated charcoal, mixing with olive oil, and alternate this with the bentonite clay. This is bit more messy, but helps to pull the infection out.

- I stated taking the Alpha Lipoic acid 600 MG 3x per day, then for a straight day I did one capsule every hour on the hour to overwhelm the infection with fighters.

- Along with all of the above, I was doing the "oil pulling" 3 x per day for 15- 20 minutes each time. I alternated between raw organic coconut oil and sesame oil.

-I also rinsed as often as seemed appropriate with activated mms. This is a powerful anti-bacterial, viral and fungal killer. Do research on this before trying it. Search "Jim Humble" to find out more on this awesome solution.

- As I felt I was making progress against the infection, I stepped up and started taking a tablespoon of organic cayenne pepper and a tablespoon of organic turmeric into about 12 oz of pure water, mixed well and swallowed. Creates a little sweat on the brow, but I think it to be a potent tonic.

-Along with all the good stuff, I refused to put anything into my body that could be counter productive. Sugar, flour, including ice-cream, breads, pastas etc. I just stuck with a Mediterranean type diet.

- I noticed that as soon as I started making headway, I would get a little lazy and the infection would start to get worse again, so once you feel you are making headway, put the petal to the metal and be even more aggressive so that the infection cannot regroup. Stay on the offensive. Don't let up.

It would have cost me probably $1500 or more (with insurance coverage) to go to the dentist for this, but all in all over the 6 month period I spent about $150 or less on everything and the infection is completely gone. Now is the time to make some lifestyle changes and stay in the habit of some of this stuff for good preventative maintenance!

I learned a lot through the process and could not be more thrilled at the outcome. Yes it takes effort, dedication and consistency, but between the God-given gifts in natures cupboard and the unrelenting and amazing healing systems in our own miracle machine bodies, it can be done the natural way. The body has an innate program to heal itself. It just needs the right tools and environment to do the work.

When you cut your hand, it bleeds, then the blood coagulates and pretty soon a scab is formed. Soon the scab falls off and...it's a miracle! ... the wound is completely healed! It is true on the inside of our bodies as well. Our bodies want to heal and if we cooperate with its own systems and desire and bent, some may call the outcome a miracle, but it is normal, our amazing, miraculous, living, healing, organic and complex healing body machines!

Thanks for the posts of prior people, I was able to customize a regimen that worked for me. Listen to your body. Each cell has intelligence and it is always speaking. We just need to listen and cooperate.

Farewell and be well!

Don

Mkd89, in addition to all of the good suggestions you have received, one of the things that I have had success with when this happens is to up my oil pulling. I have had it draw out infection from the jaw and lymph nodes and also when it feels like it is going into an ear infection. It isn't necessarily a quick fix but I would do it before any flight I take as I have issues with the pressure in planes. Good luck on your upcoming flight.

Re the infections issue.

If me I'd definitely try Colloidal Silver. Let soak five times daily for a full two minutes per application.

I soak my teeth and gums with a mouthful of CS once a week for a full minute. I believe it keeps infections form kicking in...and I've see CS work many times on gum/tooth/jaw infections.

Thank you! I'm heading to the store right now. I tried cloves this morning and it did nothing. I must be one of those 1 in a million. Go figure.

Update:

I did 1tsp of table salt in 1 cup of warm water as a rinse after the hydrogen peroxide sat for 10 minutes on the pain/infected area. Although it minimized the pain (thankfully) my left cheek is now puffed up. Also, the curve in my jaw below my ear still has a slight annoying pain to it but it's not as bad as it was.

Dear Mkd89,

Activated charcoal is good for abscesses. If you get tablets, you can put them, one at a time, over the pained area. (Moisten it first.) And let it sit there and slowly dissolve. It is fine if that takes hours. I have also done this overnight.

Extra Vitamin C would be great, as would turmeric, internally.

If you are traveling, all of the above are wonderful to have with you for a variety of ailments. I hope you feel better soon and have a wonderful trip!

WORKED TEMPORARILY

2 1/2 weeks ago, after I used a floss stick, the next morning I had excruciating pain like I've never had before on the bottom left side tooth next to wisdom tooth. Suffered for 4 days even with using apple cider vinegar with mother. It didn't work. Then my jawline started to hurt. I rubbed Benadryl extra strength on it and it helped for a few hours. Then my ear started hurting. I went on Earth Clinic and read about oil of oregano. It helped almost immediately and for a couple of days I applied directly to the tooth, the pain which is actually between the tooth and another one, the gums (both sides) with a q-tip and cotton ball along my jawline from the left side of my chin up to my temple and behind my wary.

Everything was going great until yesterday after I used my Power Floss where it felt like is might of hit something with the warm water. Then pain set in again. Oil of Oregano drops weren't working anymore. Garlic didn't work. Last night I did my coconut oil pulling for 20 minutes. Followed by light brushing with coconut oil and baking soda. Then I packed fresh coconut oil with baking soda all sound the area and on the tooth for 10 minutes. Rinsed. 30 minutes later they pain came back and I just went full on hydrogen peroxide 3% capful and let it sit in the area for 10 minutes. It definitely was drawing the infection out but the annoying pain was still there. I saw my gums had a nice sized pure white streak midway between the teeth and the base of the gums.

I caved and took a Rite Aid migraine tablet which I believe helped since I was able to sleep with no issues an woke up okay. 2 hours later, pain was back. I did it all over again without the migraine tablet and instead packed it with a crushed garlic close mixed into a paste with equal parts turmeric, black pepper and table salt. Oh the burn! My eyes were tearing. Worked to take my mind off the pain but that was all it did. I waited an hour and did another hydrogen peroxide capful left in my mouth on the side where it hurts.

Folks, I'm flying overseas on Tuesday on my birthday trip that I've been planning since February and is the first real vacation (sightseeing) I've done in 25 years. I can't not go! But I also can't suffer on the plane either. The dentist can't see me for another week, of which I will be overseas. What else can I do? Thanks for reading and your suggestions. I appreciate it!

Here's what works for me for minor gum abscesses:

Hydrogen peroxide rinse. Three parts water to one part HP. Don't make it too strong. If it stings, it's too strong. Swish it in your mouth until it becomes foamy, then spit it out. Do this once a day only.

Organic virgin coconut oil rinse. Twice a day for 30 minutes each. (morning, then once before bedtime)

Tumeric tea: one tbs of turmeric in a cup warm water. Rinse until finished.

An abscess is like any other blister or boil, it fills with pus which causes pain. Heat treatment works on exterior abscesses and I thought it would work on gums as well.

I discovered while eating soup, that by leaving the warm soup in my mouth and pushing soft vegetables against the abscess, that it took the sting out of it and, by the next day, it was smaller.

Clove oil is good for deadening the pain. Mix it with a little carrier oil (like olive oil) on a cotton ball and apply. CO takes the pain away, but it doesn't help shrink the abscess.

The main thing is to keep the area as clean as possible and do the treatments every day. I took about a week for mine to completely disappear.

If the pain becomes worse, spreads to sinuses, or causes a fever it may be an infection and you should see a dentist or doctor immediately.

Try measuring a cap full of peroxide and a cap full of water to swish around the area several times a day. This worked for me when I had an abscess (also lower canine) that apparently broke through the gum, became red, swollen and very sore. I could rub the blister-like eruption to burst. Take special effort to keep the area clean so food debris doesn't keep getting trapped under the gum. My problem was, that tooth and the one next to it had crowns. Tiny pieces of food got trapped between the crown and the gum. Flossing helps.

Don't use the peroxide straight as it will damage tissue. (I tried that...not a good thing to do, but it did heal). That tooth had a root canal but once in awhile I can tell an abscess could be forming again, (I had the crown removed because I could not tolerate it after my teeth shifted) so I'll well moisten a brand named tea bag in very warm water and drape it over the tooth for 20 or 30 min. It will draw out pus and/or blood. There are posts here on EC about that too. I think it is recommended to use Eucalyptus, but I didn't have that available. The brand named one worked for me.

I too support the use of garlic. I had an abscess under one of my upper molars that was very painful. Using the garlic and alternating the tea bag reduced the abscess so that it was no longer visible on an x-ray and I didn't have to have the tooth extracted.

Sorry to be long-winded...hopes this helps you.

Jaw/dental issues can be overcome without a dentist just as brain issues can be overcome without a brain surgeon.

I have read that "oil pulling" will help draw out infection, even from a tooth that is said to need a root canal. I would suggest that you add a couple of drops of other essential oils to the oil that you are using for "oil pulling", particularly those known for having antibiotic, antiseptic & anti-bacterial properties. Both grapefruit seed oil extract & garlic oil are antibiotic. Oil of Oregano is another good example. Clove Oil will help with any pain. Research the properties of various essential oils & try a few drops or combination of drops each time you "oil pull".

Oil Pulling and Colloidal Silver

Dear Linda --- at the present moment I am treating three abscesses, one of which has the root below the nostril. I am out of DMSO which I use with colloidal silver, so when someone posted on EC that she was using castor oil, I started to use it immediately and it is noticeably getting better. I am deeply grateful for this info. However, even when healed, I will continue for some time.

I never see a dentist as I wish to keep my teeth and originally I was put on the right path by reading online HEALING TEETH NATURALLY. There is no way I would consider a root canal after informing myself of the consequences and huge amounts of $$$.

I have been oil swishing for years but have mouth trouble. I am going to use a mouthwash for swishing later in the day, using Lugol's iodine, Celtic salt and water. Just two drops LI.

The other things I do is use black walnut tincture for swishing to build up tooth enamel. There is a variety of things that work. So now I am massaging gums and the roots of teeth and it looks promising.

Hope you make out right. Namaste, Om

Oil Pulling and Colloidal Silver

I would like an opinion on my situation. I have a tooth that abscessed and my jaw was terribly swollen. I went to the dentist and was given Amoxcillin and referred to an oral surgeon. I am scheduled for an extraction for next Tuesday. I have oil pulled for a week and am on third prescription for Amoxcillin. I want to cancel the extraction. I told the dentist about the oil pulling and he said (1) he had never heard of it and (2) that the infection is in the tooth, not in the mouth, so if I continued to just oil pull I would never get to the infection - that my tooth needed either a root canal, that I can't even afford or that it needed to be pulled. Is his statement true? He doesn't want me to wait too long before having it pulled. I, on the other hand, don't even want the tooth pulled IF it is possible to cure the infection underneath the tooth in the gum.

Will oil pulling and continuing to use Colloidal Silver get to the infection that he says is in the tooth itself? It is feeling much better now after a little over a week of the oil pulling. and colloidal silver - there is mild pain and I use the colloidal silver for the slight pain I have still. I am just concerned about whether the oil pulling and colloidal silver will cure all the infection.

Those darn receeding gumlines...msm kicks the infection and heals the gum, use both msm cyrstals in the mouth at bedtime and tablets during the day. GO SLOW and fix those receeding gumlines, it's part of our collagen mix, missing in most diets.

Yes. Peppermint oil worked and fast! To substantially reduce pain. Had a bad toothache develop in an old wisdom tooth that I really need to have pulled. Tried numerous remedies to get the pain down. Started with coconut oil pull, iodine drops on the tooth area, tried sea salt water, clove oil/cloves. Didnt get the pain down much. Pulled out some peppermint extract, put some on the gum/tooth area, pain went down quite nicely, esp in the gum. Thankful.

I don't know what to do about my mouth issues. I have a cavity in my molar and the corner of my tooth broke off, exposing the gum below it. I started oil pulling. It was okay for a few days and then my mouth around that area started to ache. I put clove oil on it and it helped the pain almost immediately. Then my gums around the tooth started swelling and I now have a few pockets of puss. I've tried garlic, tea tree oil, clove oil, oil pulling, bentonite clay, hydrogen peroxide and it doesn't seem to be healing. I don't know how serious this is. I also don't know if it takes time to get rid of the infection or if I'm not being aggressive enough. I really don't feel like chewing another clove of garlic, it burns!

Teresa: To help your body detox sulfur supplement Molybdenum. For the infection swish Povidone Iodine or Colloidal silver w/ added Hydrogen Peroxide drops, and do Coconut Oil pulling. For further improvement w/ the infection a Don Croft Mini Zapper will help a bunch.

As you are entering a toxic crisis I would also recommend a whole body hot bath w/ 1/4 cup Epsom Salts & 1/4 cup Borax (you will first need to take the MolyB for about 10 days because the Epsom Salts contains lots of sulfur) at least once per week. For the Cancer, reduce sodium and increase Potassium, Lipospheric Vit-C twice daily; Oil of Oregano softgels prior to retiring.

What dentist did you finally go to? I had 2 roots canals removed by my biological/holistic dentist, and now am having a great deal of pain in my jawbone, neck and throat, ears, and now affecting my vision (which an opthalmologist says is 20/20 - inflammation is coming from behind the eyes). My dentist took an xray that didn't show infection, and keeps trying to send me to a naturopath for IV DMSO. Unfortunately DMSO is sulfur, and I cannot tolerate sulfur, not even sulfur foods. I don't detoxify well (50-70% impairment) due to genetic mutations, so I have to be very careful what I use or ingest. I was also recently diagnosed w breast cancer, which corelates back to those root canal teeth (thyroid & breast meridians), and also have multiple nodules on my thyroid and salivary glands. I am now on a raw food diet (sprouts & veggies, veggie juices, and some fruits). I've been a painful swollen mess for several months and don't know what to do to get rid of this infection.
