Hello! I am a 26 year old male in Colorado and recently got my first hemorrhoid. At first I didn't know what to do, I didn't know what it was, all I knew was that something was wrong.

So, after a lot of research I found out that I had a hemorrhoid, which originally started as an internal hemorrhoid, but became external after a few days. From what I learned, most external hemorrhoids are actually called thrombosed hemorrhoids, which are basically a blood clot. The important thing to know is that there are two parts to a hemorrhoid, the actual blood clot (usually at the root of discomfort, essentially it's the clotted blood vessel in your rectum), and the swollen hemorrhoid tissue around it. I will explain what I mean a little further down.

So, here is what I did:

1) I started with Preparation H hemorrhoid cream that you can find at Walgreens, along with medicated wipes that contained aloe vero & with hazel. NOTE: In my experience, the Preparation H did NOTHING, literally nothing, and I felt like it actually inflamed the hemorrhoid and made it worse.

2) I read a lot about Apple Cider Vinegar, so I gave it a shot. I got cotton balls, pretty much soaked them in the ACV, and tucked them right up again the hemorrhoid so there was constant contact, as well as enough ACV to consistently soak in. THIS WAS HUGE! Within about 30 minutes I felt relief, and I kept using it for about a week.

Here is what I learned about ACV, that it works wonders with a normal external hemorrhoid because it greatly reduces swelling of the hemorrhoid, and in many cases if the hemorrhoid is not thrombosed, it will go away with just ACV. However, in my case, I was able to assess every day what was different. Before I started using the ACV, the hemorrhoid was about the size of a dime, soft, and just straight up uncomfortable. What I learned after a week of ACV is that it heavily reduces the swollen hemorrhoid tissue, but did not completely take care of it because I had a thrombosed, or blood clot hemorrhoid.

So, how do you know if you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid? In my experience the blood clot hemorrhoid was small, about the size of a black bean, it was hard, still, somewhat purple in color, and I could tell there was a lot of pressure just in that tiny bean-like hemorrhoid.

From there, I switched my focus to figure out how to remedy the blood clot, because technically the swollen hemorrhoid tissue was pretty much gone. So I did a lot of research and found something called Horse Chestnut, which comes in a cream or pill form. Basically this is a super old school, natural herb that has been used for hundreds of years to treat varicose veins, which are a form of blood clot.

If you were like me, you read Horse Chestnut and were like "what the hell? where do I get that", and I was able to find it at a Vitamin Shoppe, and I was told they sell it at pretty much every pharmacy except Walgreens or the big Walmart like chains.

So I started using the Horse Chestnut extract, which I took two 200mg pills every day, and started to see some difference. I also used Castor Oil and applied it directly to the area, it didn't do much for swelling/getting rid of the hemorrhoid, but it did sooth it and make it feel less noticeable.

About that same time, I found a product online called Hem-Relief. I am and will never be a salesman, but I strongly advise getting a bottle just to have, because it knocks out hemorrhoids so quick! I picked up a bottle of Hem-Relief 7 days before I left for a cruise in Honduras, and started taking 2 pills 3 times a day. By the time I got on the cruise, I didn't even notice my hemorrhoid, didn't feel it, and when I did think about it, checked it out, it was 100% gone.

Hem-Relief combines many different natural herbs, along with the Horse Chestnut I talked about above, and I really gave me results in less than a week. I assume that if you just stuck with Horse Chestnut you'd be ok, but I know all of you reading this want hemorrhoids to go away ASAP, and realistically $40 for Hem-Relief to make them go away is wayyyy worth it.

So here are my bullet points for getting rid of hemorrhoids:

- Put your feet up on a 6" tall box or stool when you poop. Squatting is the natural was to defecate, it just puts less strain and pushing on your muscles.

-Use Apple Cider Vinegar to relieve external hemorrhoid swelling. Soak a cotton ball and stick it up there, go about your business for about an hour, take it out.

-Use Caster Oil to each and sooth discomfort during normal daily activities.

-Keep using the medicated wipes and keep that area clean. Hemorrhoids can flare up very quickly if not constantly addressed.

-Invest in some Hem-Relief, or Horse Chestnut. This will immensely help the blood clot involved with hemorrhoids.

-Be patient and know that you're not the only one. I've heard some 75% of people get at least 1 hemorrhoid in their life, and trust me, they suck.

Hope my experience and wisdom helps. Cheers.

I have been in excrutiating pain for five days due to several prolapsed thrombosed hemorrhoids (gotta love childbirth). Last night it got so bad that I couldn't sit, lay, stand, sleep, etc. -- despite heavy pain meds, sitz baths, Prep H, etc. (If it had been any other illness, I would have had my husband take me to the emergency room, but I was too embarassed. ) In desperation, I Googled "hemorrhoid home remedies" and came upon this website. I saw how many people swear that cayenne pepper tea cures hemorrhoids, so I thought what the heck, I'll try it.

I went to the kitchen and made myself a cup of cayenne pepper tea at around 3 am. I was worried that it would upset my stomach, but it didn't. The only thing I noticed was that it sort of burned my throat on the way down, but it wasn't anything painful. When I woke up this morning, I noticed my hemorroids weren't quite as painful but thought that it could just be a coincidence. Nevertheless, I drank another cup of cayenne pepper tea this morning. This afternoon, I drank another glass. Guess what? It's 10:15 pm and my hemorrhoids are completely GONE in less than 24 hours! I've never believed in homeopathic/herbal remedies before, but I am definitely now a convert. I don't know how or why, but the cayenne pepper worked. Try this before pursuing surgery!

I know everyone out there isn't going to like this, but hemorrhoids are symptoms of CANDIDA overgrowth. That's the reason that cleansing the area with apple cider vinegar is often effective - it balances the pH because although it's an acid, it has an alkalizing effect. Drinking apple cider vinegar also helps to alkalize your blood, but you need to eat other alkalizing foods too (and minimize acid forming foods) to experience true alkalization. So, another effective remedy that will not burn the way apple cider vinegar does, is one that also works for women's yeast infections. It was given to me by a conventional doctor and I modified it. The doctor told me that filling a capsule (which you can purchase at a pharmacy or at a health food store) with BORIC ACID and then inserting the capsule into the vagina will balance the pH and stop yeast infections. He said to do it every day that a yeast infection is present, and then once a week afterwards. Tou can buy boric acid at a pharmacy without a prescription. It's a powder. Since I have done this many years ago, I haven't experienced a single yeast infection (touch wood) and I've stopped using the capsules. Later on, I discovered that mixing the boric acid in coconut oil can be used for treating yeast AND hemorrhoids (mix it into a paste and store it in a small glass jar - I use extra virgin, organic coconut oil). The hemorrhoids you are experiencing are really just a kind of yeast infection in your anus. So, if you have hemorrhoids, you need to first look at your diet. Eliminate the easier forms of sugar - stop eating white flour and processed foods - spelt is a DELICIOUS substitute for white flour, and increase your intake of vegetables, particularly fresh. They will add bulk to push food quickly through your system. Drink lots of water, cut out pop and sugary drinks, and add a bit of fresh lemon to your water. Lemon juice will help to alkalize your system too. For fiber, grind a couple of tablespoons of flax seeds in a coffee grinder (I have one dedicated just for flax seeds) and mix with water. You can add a tiny amount of psyllium for bulk, but make sure it's organic, because psyllium is very highly sprayed with pesticides. Take a good probiotic, such as Garden of Life, FAITHFULLY, to repopulate the good flora in your system. Consider doing a gentle cleanse - one where you work up to only green vegetable juices and water for a few days (along with ground flax seeds for fiber). Also, take a good magnesium supplement to soften and regulate your stools. You will know when you are taking enough magnesium when you go number two several times a day but it's not liquid. Prune juice is an excellent addition too. A great magnesium supplement is Calm by Peter Gillingham. Please let me know how this works for you!

Camphor in Belly Button

Once every several months, I experience hemorrhoids. I don't really know why as nothing changes in my diet or exercise. Usually the problem goes away in a few days. But the last time, I had more than one hemorrhoid appear and they did not go away quickly. I tried the castor oil remedy, and it was soothing, but did not resolve the problem. Then I read a comment on mercola.com, in which the person quoted Dr. Donald Carrow (now deceased, but a holistic MD).

Per Dr. Carrow, put camphor oil into the naval and the hemorrhoids would go away.

I didn't have straight camphor oil, so used metholatum rub which has the camphor. After one or two applications of the salve into my navel, I was back to normal! The hemorrhoids were gone. I don't know how it worked, but it did, so I wanted to pass it on for others who might like to try it.

For hemorrhoids

It is well know in my country of origin that if you peel a small potato and use the center of it to make a suppository like shape and insert it in your anus, you will cure internal hemorrhoids. I saw how it cured a close friend of mine back then.

Score another one for Earth Clinic!! I had a recent bout of hemorrhoids and rectal irritation. I've tried the over the counter products which are rarely effective. Lately, I've been experimenting with making my own suppositories. I used an organic virgin coconut oil (VCO) for the base and added a couple drops of tea tree oil. They worked well as a lubricant. But it wasn't until I read the posts about aloe vera that I got fantastic results.

To make the suppositories just melt about two tablespoons of the VCO in a small bowl, sprinkle two or three drops of tea tree oil, and add about a teaspoon of pure aloe vera. Mix then place the bowl in the refrigerator. When the oil begins to harden, scoop a small amount onto a section of plastic wrap and roll it into a small log shape and twist the ends to close. Place the "logs" in the refrigerator to harden. Whenever you need one, use a half or whole section and insert one before bedtime. They are soothing and cooling. I have never had such immediate results. Be persistent...this ailment takes a while to completely heal.

One suggestion: because the suppositories are oil based, wear protective panty liners.

I had bleeding, internal hemorrhoids for seriously TWO years! I tried every single remedy listed on Earth Clinic and over the counter stuff. I knew I should really go to the doctor, but every time I planned to, they would clear up for a day or two at most. Anyway, this is what worked for me, and I hope I can help someone else out there! It takes a few steps working all together. First, I stopped drinking caffeine, eating any products with sugar or white flour (which we shouldn't eat anyway). Contrary to popular belief, I stopped eating ALL grains such as oatmeal, psyllium fiber supplements, etc. These just seemed to aggravate the situation, which I have learned from perusing the 'net that this is the case for some people (see the bean/salad comments below--I think some people need a less harsh type of fiber). I upped my water intake to at least 8-10 glasses a day (I just wasn't drinking that much). I eat 1 or 2 salads per day. I eat beans almost every day--even if they were from a can--just don't eat the baked kind with the sugary sauces. Very little red meat, mainly chicken breast. I make sure I walk once or twice every day for at least 30 minutes. Very important--do not, do not, do not strain on the toilet, and make sure your legs are close together (graphic? yes, but I think I learned this from another Earth Clinic poster). I think what was most important for me, --I took 2 Triphala capsules in the morning, and then 2 more at night before bed. I also started taking one 200 mcg Chromium Picolinate pill before bed. Within 2 days--whoopee!!!!! No more constipation, and no more bleeding 'rrhoids!! It's been over 1 month now and no symptoms whatsoever. I have 1-2 easy comfortable movements now daily. I have been sorta constipated most of my life, and I truly think some people are prone to this and maybe have a chromium deficiency that is contributing--but I'm reading up on that more. Good luck and happy poopin'!

Anti-Candida Diet

I want to add onto what Hmmm444 had discovered: Candida overgrowth is a major cause of hemorrhoid. That was an important finding. To check whether you have candida overgrowth in your body, look at your tongue in the morning. If it has a thick white coating and looks bloated that is a sign.

In TCM, that's traditionally a sign of internal dampness that is the cause of many diseases. It is said that the drying function of the body, called the "Spleen" is failing. Dampness is fertile ground for yeast to overgrow causing flatulence, inflammation and even bleeding. The latter are the body's attempts to rid of the fermentation that these bad bacteria produce. The dampness and candida overgrowth in the intestine also disrupt the normal functions of the bowels resulting in constipation. That's my theory after experiencing hemorrhoid for many years and now tackling it the right way.

Hmmm444 has offered valuable suggestions like cutting down on sugar, white wheat flour (SCD diet forbids it completely as it is the major cause of IBD/IBS), processed and acidic foods.

I want to add an important remedy: GARLIC. (Unless you are allergic to it, you should try it. As for allergy, I wonder if it is the effect of garlic working and perhaps one should go slow and build up the dosage slowly. )

I think garlic is not an ordinary herb but a living force in itself. It produces Allicin only when cut or crushed. Allicin is anti-bacterial and works even on bacteria resistant to the doctor's antibiotics. Garlic also has other numerous ingredients good for the body. This has been well researched by experts over the years.

Garlic kill off candia and dries up the dampness in the intestines. Peel 2 cloves of garlic and chop it into fine pieces. Leave it in the open for 15 minutes to allow the Allicin that destroy bad bacteria to be produced. After 15 minutes consume it and here's the TRICK on how to do it without problem. You see, even though I know for many years that garlic is very good for the body, I deprived myself of raw garlic because I found it quite impossible to eat it by drinking it with liquid because of its very pungent taste.

Now I am able to do so by SWALLOWING the chopped garlic with liquid. I usually take some food like a glass of unsweetened soya milk first; then I wash down the chopped garlic in several gulps. That was easy, my tongue did not get burnt by it. Eat 2 cloves this way, two to three times daily. Next morning when you check your tongue, the white coating would be not be there; that's a good sign. Your hemorrhoid inflammation would be improved and any bleeding due to water retention in that area would be remedied. One doctor even recommended inserting a garlic clove into the rectum at night. I hesitated to do that for a long time but when I tried the method, I found to my surprise there was indeed no or very little irritation.

To end, I think hemorrhoid, IBD, IBS are basically symptoms of the same problem - water retention and overgrowth of bad bacteria - but at different stages of development. I am also a sufferer of IBS for many years and when I use garlic and non-acidic and no-wheat diet, my problem improved. Especially with garlic the improvement has been dramatic.

My problem is so bad I came close to bleeding to death a few times this year. I've bled for 8 years, progressively getting worse each year. Have had to have blood transfusion, iron infusions, etc. They scheduled surgery for the end of January. I had two weeks to turn this around (the surgery is nothing short of barbaric and has high rate of risks and long-painful recovery).

A natural-doctor friend told me about Collinsonia Root. I read the comments on Amazon and they were quite impressive. For example, a guy had problems for 20 years, started taking Collinsonia and has had no problem for the last 20. I did a progressive experiment. I first tried ingesting 5 black peppercorns in the morning and at night. Within 24 hours the bleeding was 3/4 less. I added Collinsonia Root and Fargelin (a chinese herb) five days later. Both are said to strengthen the colon wall to prevent hemorrhoids and to shrink the tissue. I've been doing all three for three weeks and the tissue has shrunk. I had massive amounts so it will take time.

But I have had bowel movements with no blood at all...THAT is a miracle. The Collinsonia Root is inexpensive and you take one pill 1-3 times a day. The Fargelin is little round, black pills. You take 4 three times a day. My doctors words were, "I'm astonished by the results." Surgery has been canceled :)

Dearest Fellow Hemorrhoid Sufferers,

Over 4 months ago I went to a BEAUTIFUL wedding in Byron Bay, Australia. I got the flu when I came back on the plane. After the flu passed I developed a bacterial infection in my intestines that left me with HORRIBLE diarrhea - I literally would sit down for not even 5 minutes and I'd have to go to the bathroom again. I had to go to Urgent Care because it wouldn't stop and food and liquid was only making it worse. I got a prescription and in about 5 days I was better. The good news: I lost 8 lbs. The bad news: I gained it all back and 4 months later I was still struggling with the single worst side effect of being so sick: massive, painful, bleeding, hemorrhoids.

Since then, I have been to every doctor. I have used every OTC cream, wipe, suppository, pill, and/or vitamin. I wanted to scream at my doctor when she would repeatedly tell me to use Metamucil and Preparation H (neither of which did a damn thing from the beginning). I loathed every bowel movement. Some days it would hurt so bad I had to hold on to the walls (for dear life) and I was left in pain, bleeding, sweating, and crying when it was finally over with. If someone would have walked in and saw me, they probably would have thought I was giving birth on the toilet. And it felt like it, too. There was a lot of crying. A lot of begging the doctors to do something about it. My poop wouldn't soften to save my life, no matter how much Metamucil I would take, or how well I ate, or what I cut out of my diet.

Finally my doctor told me I was going to have to go see a GI. I had just moved to LA and was at a new job, but was waiting for my health insurance to kick in (I had a 30 day waiting period). I couldn't believe it had gotten to this point. Again, there was a lot of crying. After I got off of the phone with my doctors office back home, I made a decision: I REFUSE TO GO ANY FURTHER WITH WHAT THEY ARE TELLING ME WHAT TO DO. I WILL FIX THIS NATURALLY. My boyfriend heard me scream this multiple times. I was certain of it, there had to be a way. I was not going to suffer anymore.

So here's what I did. And to my surprise, it all worked:

First and foremost: to relieve pain, bleeding, and some of the swelling you will need SOFT POOP. Not diarrhea, but soft poop that does not irritate the hemorrhoids when you go to the bathroom. To achieve this you will only need 3 things:

1. Aloe Vera Juice (get this at your local co-op - and get the big bottle, you'll need to drink it twice a day).

2. Magnesium supplement (I used the powder because it absorbs better)

3. Flax Seed (ground by yourself, so buy whole seeds, not pre-ground seeds)

MORNING BEFORE BREAKFAST: Powder Magnesium supplement in 2 oz hot water - after the bubbles would go down I would mix a serving of Aloe Vera Juice in it and drink. Gross at first but you'll learn to love it because of the effect it will have when you go to the bathroom.

BEFORE LUNCH & BEFORE DINNER: drink 2TBSP of ground up flax seeds with a cup of water. Yes, it's also gross but just do it. It's worth it.

NIGHT RIGHT BEFORE BED: Repeat Magnesium & Aloe Vera Juice.

* Some wonderful things these supplements do: Magnesium is also a supplement for calming stress. Aloe Vera is a powerful desert plant that cools and calms, reduces inflammation, and helps absorb vitamins and supplements up to 2000% more than just water (I specifically use Lily of the Desert). If you look up Aloe Vera Juice you may find a lot of contradictory statements saying that it's toxic and it's not meant for human consumption, etc. That, my friend, makes me want to ask whoever wrote that if they've ever suffered from hemorrhoids. Chances are probably not, because if they had and had used Aloe Vera Juice for that very reason, they would be praising it.

Secondly: Good 'Ol Chinese Medicine!

Fargelin - Use it. Buy it on Amazon for cheap. I recommend buying 2 or 3 bottles because there's only really 4 days worth of pills in each bottle. Read the directions - it says to take with boiled then cooled water - simply take with distilled water.

Ma Ying Long Hemorrhoids Ointment - Use it. Also buy it on Amazon. It will provide such a cooling relief to burning, itching hemorrhoids. It helps with regeneration of healthy tissue as well.

* You can buy these both together on Amazon.

Thirdly: This is an important one. A hemorrhoid is a swollen balloon of blood that has extended itself beyond the original vein. It is a veracose vein. The BEST WAY to reduce SWELLING is with ICE.

Anuice - buy it on Amazon as well. It's a small plastic device that has WATER in it. You put it in the freezer (a certain way depending on if you are using it internally or externally - if both I recommend buying 2). IT IS PRICEY - $40 per unit but it is SO WORTH IT. It is the only thing you can use to actually take down the swelling (besides waiting).

*You must use this REPEATEDLY. You can not stop after you use it once or twice. You need to use it 3 - 6 times a day - the more you use it the faster you heal. And if you use it how much you should you should be healed in about 4 weeks (completely).

*DO NOT TAKE THE CHEAP ROUTE AND JUST PUT ICE ON YOUR HOLE. YOU WILL GET FROST BITE AND KILL LIVING (although painful) TISSUE. Big no-no. Don't even think about it.

Fourthly: Also a very important one. Bending over while you poo. I've read on here to buy a 6 inch stool to put your feet on. SAVE YOUR MONEY. If you're like me and you live in an apartment where the bathroom is so small you could shower, pee, and brush your teeth all at the same time you won't need a stool. ALSO - what if I have to poo when I'm at work? Do I just carry a poo stool around with me everywhere. NO!

Simply, when you gotta go, just put your chest close to your legs, hands should touch the floor or your feet and then go. This, my friends, RELIEVES THE PRESSURE on the hemorrhoids (can we just start calling them the horrible hemies now?). I read this in a poo book so it's true. I've had MUCH LESS pain during and afterwards with this.

Lastly: Eat healthy (get used to eating salads, at this point it's survival mode with a side effect of it being good for you, too so learn to like it). No greasy, fatty foods. I've also read that chicken and chicken's eggs can upset hemorrhoids but I never experienced that. And drink lots of water. Yes, that means 8 - 10 8oz. Cups of water a day. Or buy 2-3 liters, easier to keep track of that way.

And that is my story. I am now the happiest person in the world to say that I am free of the horrible hemies. I DO CONTINUE to use the Aloe Vera Juice, Magnesium and Flax Seed for house keeping. I will forever to the bend over trick when I poo. And keep the other things around just in case. And I will never, ever forget this pain and horribleness of hemorrhoids. I've healed physically, now it's time to heal emotionally.

Best of all luck to you, my fellow friends and sufferers. This thing can be beat.

Sarah

I have to second you on this! For me, I cut an actual small chunk of the gel of the leaf (after being chilled in the fridge) and placed it in like a suppository...IMMEDIATE RELIEF! And then the next day, one more time...and I was healed. It was a woah moment for sure to be healed so swiftly. Oh, I've also used organic virgin coconut oil is before. Takes a bit longer, but reduces the inflammation immediately and the horrible burning! Great natural remedies let me tell you!!

Blackstrap Molasses

My husband began using blackstrap molasses about 3 weeks ago after reading that it would shrink Hemorrhoids. He was skeptical but faithfully took his full tablespoon, one in the morning and one at night (plain, right off the spoon! ) I asked him how it was going after the second week and he told me, "great! " He said that the hemorrhoids were really going away and that he was going to continue taking it because it was better than having the "rubber band surgery" (which we have both had! )

I decided to join him and also began taking one tablespoon in the morning and one in the evening as well. After only 4 days I can report that my hemorrhoids have shrunken so much that I feel that I have had surgery again - unbelievable! We are both true believers of this product and will continue to take the usual dose until the Hemorrhoids are gone, then we may go to only one tablespoon each morning. Another benefit, it has helped keep us "regular" - a nice benefit for people in their 60's who lead very busy lives! We have even recommended it to our daughters who have recently had babies and are suffering from Hemorrhoids - they have both begun taking the blackstrap molasses, too. We used the unsulphured, no reason other than that is what we found at the grocery store.

If there are other benefits, I'll report on that as we realize them. I have my annual physical coming up and I am curious at what some of my test results will show.

Thank you for this wonderful site!

Anti-Candida Diet

Further to my post dated 06/15/2011 above, here's more information which hopefully will be helpful for other sufferers.

I think hemorrhoid is a symptom of a more systemic problem - bad intestinal bacteria that putrefies, unload its wastes or toxins, thus causing inflammation and its attendant problems. These disorders are known to us as IBS and IBD.

So, I am going to write this post with a wider scope in mind namely how I treated my IBS & IBD.

There is a news report months back saying that there is now a suspicion in conventional medicine that serious diseases may be caused by bad bacteria in the intestines. I think this is on the right track. The only problem is that even if they finally confirm that bad bacteria are the root culprits, conventional medicine will continue to resort to man-made antibiotics instead of natural ones to kill bad bacteria.

Anyway my own experience in using raw garlic 3 times daily over the last 3 months is that the colon discomfort/pain I used to suffer for more than 30 years is completely gone. Serious.

Months previous to that, I had tried a strict wheat and sugar free diet recommended by SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet). That did help but I felt that it was a case of depriving the bad bacteria of food they feed on, thus weakening them. However the diet did not finish them off effectively. The moment I took some bread for example, the symptoms came back the next day.

After 3 months on raw garlic, now I found that I no longer have a problem eating bread, sugar and those foods - even at night - that I was once so sensitive to. This is quite a marvel to say the least.

In the past, I also tried high doses of expensive probiotics but gave up after several months because they were too weak to deal with the bad bacteria. Yet garlic a cheap kitchen spice completely turned my life around. You just have to take it religiously several times daily for a few months. It is known that garlic not only kills off the bad bacteria - Candida, E Coli, even MRSA - but also promotes the good bacteria. There are numerous reports on that over the Internet.

Another wonder herb that I have found to help intestinal inflammation (hemorrhoid included) is WHITE OAK BARK.

Take white oak bark capsules with garlic daily for a few months and you may see your IBS & IBD (hemorrhoids included) go into remission, even for long-standing cases.

It may come as a surprise that the great efficacy of these 2 herbs - raw garlic & white oak bark - for intestinal complaints were strongly recommended in the book "Secrets of the Chinese Herbalists" by Richard Lucas written more than 30 years ago!

However it took me a long time to understand I need to use the correct regimen, that is consuming them on a daily basis in regular dosages for a few months to see dramatic results for chronic cases like mine.

So if you are running out of options, why not give yourself a try with these 2 herbs for 2 to 3 months. If you are successful please come back and let others know.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Cayenne Drink

This worked for me. Eliminated my hemorrhoid symptoms completely.

I read this article in July and the first of Nov all my symptoms have abated.

Twice a day, I mix .75 tablespoon ACV, .5 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper and .75 tablespoon filtered honey in 10 to 12 oz of cold water. I do not sip this drink, a couple of chugs would be more approximate description. The honey helps the taste but it doesn't mix easily in the water.

I worked up to .5 teaspoons of Cayenne pepper over a couple of weeks. Expect some discomfort a burning sensation. The burning sensation passes within a couple of minutes and then faster each day. As I grew more accustomed and increasing the dose I was surprised that the burning moved from my stomach, to my ear canals, to the back of my throat. At some point the discomfort lessened to me not noticing other than, hey no burning.

In addition to my symptoms disappearing completely, the occasional bout of late night heartburn also stopped.

I never applied any thing directly to my affected areas once I started drinking this mixture.

I had tried dozens of different approaches over the years, none came close to this.

(This is going to be a little graphic)

I had hemorrhoids for about two years. Sometimes they shrunk, sometimes they grew, but they were always there.

I initially tried the cotton ball apple cider vinegar technique for a couple days, and that helped a lot on the first day. They shrunk tremendously, but I still could feel the bigger ones when I stuck my finger up there. They were smaller than they were, but still bulging and very present. I did the apple cider technique twice a day for three days, but saw no real improvement past the first day, and ended up giving up on it. Hurt like crazy but gave no real results.

As a last ditch effort I ordered some 500mg cayenne tablets, which I read were also helpful for hems. I started taking one tablet every morning for the past 5 days, and haven't really examined the inside of my rectum since- I guess I kind of expected the cayenne not to work and was just taking it for the loads of other benefits. Today in the shower I decided to check again, not expecting it to be much better, but man was I pleasantly surprised.

I used to feel the same few hems which felt like internal skin tags, one that was about 50% bigger and longer than the others. This time I could find none of them. I really got in there because I couldn't believe they were gone, and all I could feel was a sort of scab-like texture where the hemorrhoids used to be. I assume they are truly scabs of some sort that are still continuing to heal the affected area. I am going to continue taking the cayenne pepper tablets, and hopefully I'll have a completely smooth passageway soon.

I would highly suggest trying cayenne pepper, I ordered mine off Amazon. Go with a kosher brand. Maybe try the apple cider vinegar initially too, as I cannot discount the fact that it did shrink them the first time and perhaps continued to work over time.

Rutin, Vitamin C

I believed in the power of Rutin from reading other users comments. However, I was expecting faster results since I saw no change after about 10 days. After doing more research, I found that you can take much more than the 500mg per day that others have said. So, I upped the dosage to two 500mg pills morning and night (2,000mg per day). Note - I also read that you should take 500-1,000mg of vitamin C as rutin can interfere with your body's ability to absorb vitamin C from foods. Within 2 days of changing the dosage the my Hs are almost 100% gone!

After suffering from hemorrhoids virtually every day for over a year, I was referred to a specialist and then recommended to have hemorrhoid surgery (hemorrhoidectomy) to control the hemorrhoids. In the time between the referral and the surgery (which would have been six months), I took some steps to try to naturally cure my hemorrhoids. Basically, I went from having painful hemorrhoids every day to being completely cured of hemorrhoids within three months (and no surgery! ) ... by following the list below:

1: Take Supplements to strengthen veins and prevent hemorrhoids:

  • Horse Chestnut & Butcher's Broom
  • Diosmin & Hesperidin
  • Rutin (1 x 250 mg per day)
  • Gotu Kola (1 x 475 mg per day)
  • Hemorrhoid Control
  • Vitamin C (1 x 500 mg Vitamin C per day)
  • Vitamin D (1 D3 1000 per day)
  • Multi Vitamin (1 x per day)

2: Practice a Better Overall Diet:

  • Drink 8 glasses of water per day
  • Veggie smoothie for breakfast … with cruciferous vegetables as the base
  • Eat Vegetarian meals (when possible)

3: Take Supplements that support softer stool (something similar to organic psyllium)

4: Eat foods that have a slight laxative effect:

  • Green Veggies: Spinach, Kale, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, etc
  • Beans & Legumes: Beans, Peas, Split Peas, Lentils, etc
  • Fruits: Apples, Apricots, Blackberries, Prunes, Peaches, Pears, Plums, Raspberries, Strawberries, etc
  • Other: Whole Wheat, Oatmeal, etc

5: Practice good Toilet habits:

  • Elevate feet when going to the bathroom (Squatty Potty)
  • Don't strain
  • Don't stay on the toilet too long (2 to 5 minutes is enough)
  • Wear cotton underwear

Turmeric

I have had an anal fissure along with internal piles for the last year. I cured myself for 5 months and have had some relapses in between. I initially started using the nitroglycerin ointment prescribed by the doctors, for 6 weeks to widen blood vessels and allow the area to heal. I got the headaches that were a side effect but nothing worse than the pain of the fissure and hemorrhoids. But a month after the fissure re tore and got the piles back to. I guess this was because I had high rectal pressure and a very dry anus.

So through experimenting I found turmeric powder mixed with either of these things; aloe Vera, castor oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, witch hazel, vitamin e oil - was helping. I would apply it directly to my fissure and piles every day once in the morning and evening. Lay on my side and let it soak in. Tumeric is a god send!!!

Occasionally I would crush half a piece of garlic coat it in oil and put this on my bum.. I wouldn't leave it on for longer than 10 minutes. I tried the apple cider vinegar topically which actually didn't work for me but I think that's because I have an internal pile so will have to drink the apple cider vinegar in water.

I have bought rutin and vitamin b6. Rutin I eat twice a day and vitamin b6 once. This apparently strengthens the colon wall which is what you want. I have upped my vitamin c and cod liver oil which I have found helps. Also, I am anemic which affects my red blood cells inevitably affecting the healing and inflammation. So it is important to know if your iron levels are ok..

I have upped my fibre (research soluble and insoluble fibre) I drink loads of water, I have found apples to be great. Started to drink green, peppermint tea which is good for your gut. Also eating garlic in yogurt(probiotic) 2-4 times a week. Having 2 sitz baths a day and massaging my bum, putting a hot water bottle on my bum so that I am relaxing muscles so that I can heal.. Changing your mindset is also important. I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress. I sit in a squatting position and always make sure my bum is clean but moisturised and lathered with Vaseline or aloe vera or oil because it promotes healing.. oddly enough I didn't find coconut oil worked for me because it acted as a coating but didn't moisturise or allow me to heal as it was acting as a barrier. I think keeping in the routine of doing these things is important to prevent reoccurrence.
